Please help me identify this unknown maker cue!!

Here is a cue that I recently received, however, I have no idea who made the cue. I originally thought the cue may have been made by Doc Fry, due to the Glitter rings in the cues butt and the inlays in the cues points. The cue is a full spliced butt made from Rosewood spliced into Maple. The cues joint is 5/16-14 with a Brass Pin which screws into a Brass insert, and the joint collar is Aluminum. The cues forearm is similar to a Titlist Splice, however, it doesn't appear to be one, and the cues points are not even. The cues wrap is missing and the cues shaft is shorter than a normal cue, along with the longest ferrule I have ever seen.:eek:,however, all parts appear to be original to this cue, here are some photo's.

I am uncertain what type of case it is, it hold 1 butt and 2 shafts, and it is well made.

Just guessing, but..Valley Cue?
Brass joint screw has a "coned" shape tip.. 18 Thread?
Photo is my Valley Cue's Joint Assembly.. Cue is "All Original"..:thumbup:

i think it is a rich cue

i have a cue with same joint. it is called a doc fry in billiardcue.com and also a doc fry on dr. wu's old website- the one with ALL the kersenbrocks. pete tascarella, sr. id'ed it as a rich cue made by abe lagose(i probably misspelled that atrociously) .

Thanks for you information, but, I have had a numbers of Rich cue made Abe himself. I agree that the joint certainly looks like a Rich, however, many cue makers during the 1960's were also using these materials, including National and many others. The two things that are throwing me off are the Sparkle rings on the cue butt, the points, and the cues ferrule.

I'd say its a Rich with a little repair work on ferrule. I've had Rich with this type of rings an brushed alum joint an Brizilian rosewood, beautiful cue. This cue has made it from one end of the country to the other..

Do you have any photo's of the cue, if so please post them. When you say Rich, are you speaking about Abe Rich or the Rich Cue Company?

But does it have a 3" ferrule?
 
Hmm, maybe the front of the shaft had been damaged severely and someone cut it off and tried to compensate for it with this monstrous ferrule? That's what it looks like to me. So I wouldn't consider the ferrule too much of a big deal. Of course I could be completely wrong :grin:

Boy, it sure looks like an early Adam rosewood handled blank to me, veneer colors, dimensions and all. I don't think it's a Spain blank, which would most likely have been gabon ebony, plus most of his were "shorties" when this cue was made.

I would guess the cue is a custom conversion by a mid-west or east coast cue maker - I don't recognize the other work.

abe has done many of those palmer/adam blanks not to mention extra long

delrin ferrules.

the glitter does not look like docs, but hard to tell from a pic.
