I think it was against Billy Incardona in Reno.
bot trying to argue the poit, but I know he did ;agains ;Billy, But also against David Howard and I'm pretty sure in Vegas.
His personal best was 14 racks at Table Steaks in Denver.

What type of cancer does Danny have?
David
Sad news indeed. Most of the time I spent around Danny was from 1985-97, but I haven't seen much of him in the last fifteen years.
I remember him most for his huge 8-ball break. He was a great talent in his hey day and had a big game.
Danny is an old road buddy of mine. We had one especially good trip through the Midwest back in the 80's. Danny didn't book any losers either! We both went home with stuffed pockets. I had visions of taking Danny to England way back when to challenge the snooker champs to some golf on a snooker table. I don't think any of them would have liked it much. Danny was that good. No one shot any straighter than him.
Danny came to visit me out here in the late 80's a couple of times, first winning the Disneyland tournament, beating David Howard in a thrilling final match for 15K! Second time was for a big tourney in Riverside. Danny didn't win, in fact he may have finished 5-6th for only $750. But then he took on Morro Paez, the best golf player around. He went through Morro like a hot knife through butter, winning over 3K in a few hours.
Our next meeting was at the U.S. Bar Table Championships in Reno. I sponsored Danny several times and we always made money. One year he even won the Eight Ball division for 5K, our best score. So Danny and I have been a good team down through the years and always gotten along great.
No one ever broke the balls any harder than Danny or had more heart either. Danny was a lot like Shane is today. When I put him in the box for a tough game and asked him how he felt, he would always respond, "Don't worry, I can beat him." And he did!
I hope I get to see you again soon buddy.
Danny, if anyone can beat it, you can. You've never feared anything in life and rightfully so it's in your DNA. Many of us in life worry and diminish ourselves as we age, you, your like water, always the same. I always remember seeing him in Vegas yrs ago, when he had his Porsche, before he went to the 9 footers, quite amazing, someone who cut his teeth and learned in the trenches of the bars, to transition to the 9 footers and dominate so many Big table players. He and I bucked heads Many times over the years, and in many McDermott Tour events but theres is one shot I remember, better than Ronnie Allen running 8 and out one handed in the air.
Finals, the original Table Steaks on the front triple shimmed Gold Crown. I rolled out, cue ball about 6'' off the head rail. The object ball was two diamonds up from the lower left hand corner, he had to shoot thru a small window and stop the ball dead, but that was the easy part, on this triple shimmed GC. His shape for his next shot was another window shot to the right side pocket. The cloth is well worn, the cue ball is hopping on its way, Dannys slightly jacked up, and any player would of given it back, not Danny. He made it of course, all I could do was shake my head, not that he made it, but that he took the shot, and won because of it. Danny was very adepet at bouncing balls around. In his heyday, if you were racking and usually at the beginning of the match, he would punch the cue ball off the foot rail, back to himself and catch it in his hand while waiting. I always heard about him jump banking the 8 ball cross side on an bar table over another obj. ball for the win, he had a feel for ball movement and collisions, different than others of his skill level.
Dino, PM me, I'll stop by and see ya soon.
For those of you wondering why I ''named him Dino'' it's a combination of Danny and the last half of his name, Me......dina, and Dino was always a happy go lucky character/dinosaur on the cartoons growing up.

A nice post from a class guy!Danny ran 9 racks against me in Reno, he was playing lights out. He told Pat Fleming that he was playing every day, hitting at least 1,000 balls a day. Religiously practicing is a sure way to get in touch with your inner game, once you start feeling it, there's nothing to compare it with.
I've known Danny for over 40 years, and have always perceived him as a silent, but yet incredibly strong man, both mentally and physically I have and will always admire Danny for the way he's handled himself his entire life, and yes I believe that Danny has a shot at beating anything.
Danny you're one of my hero's, though i've never mentioned it to you until now I want you to know that, just keep being you.

Cool Billy. Danny got knocked by a few guys who may have been jealous of his talent. All the years I've known him he's always been straight up with me. And he had lots of chances to do otherwise. More than once I put 500 or a thou in his hands and let him go. One time a backer told me that he lost 600 with his man against Danny. I had gone to the room to get some rest so that's all I knew. When I saw Danny I congratulated him on winning the 600. He looked at me funny and said, "We also won 900 side betting," and handed me ALL the money! That's the Danny I know.

Billy, check your PM.
I talked with Dnny on the phone yesterday for about an hour. He has begun Chemo and had no complaints with it. He is remarkkabley in great spirits and fighting hard.
He has read on here the kind words of you all and is deeply touched by it. Without any pretense he has been a pool player his entire adult life. he ate, slept, and breathed the game. He misses it now and still loves talking about it.
I ask that the prayers continue and appreciate them very much. The kind words are appreciated as well.
Thank you so very much!
Danny Medina has stage 4 cancer.
I talked with him earlier today and the first time in about 3 months. He was the typical Danny. Upbeat and optomistic. i felt very ashamed as I was very choked up over the news.
He said," Bud, I think I can cure myself and give cancer the 7-8"!
Danny ws for many years a most feared 9 ball player. Few came to Colorado looking to take him off. He had one of the most feared breaks on the planet, even if it could get a bit wild. I witnessed him running 14,12,11,10, and a few 9 packs over the years.
He is very upbeat and optomistic and only asks for prayers. Danny has always been a warrior and a fighter. It's just the way he was built.
Having known Danny for near 40 years, this is one of the saddest days of my life.
Please pray for my friend?
Thanks
