Hospice has given Grady just one or two more days of life. My dad has just left to be with him, and Grady is staying with a good friend. So he will be surrounded by people who love him.

I'm reaching out to all our practicing, as well as non-practicing christians on the AZ boards. Please say a prayer for Grady. Pray for as painless a passing as possible. Pray for his soul if you feel the spirit move you in that direction. Just say a little something to the Lord for Grady.

Thank you.

I said a prayer for Grady and his loved ones, but most of all I hope Grady says a prayer for Grady.

A man who engaged life on his terms. He rode the highways of the US in ways many of us would dream. He played ALL games well....pool/cards/dominos/craps on his own terms, and picked your pocket with class and laughter in a good way. Wish there were more players like that nowadays, always wanting to make a game and keep life interesting, and he drove that red cadillac convertible in the triple digets to get there on time. It's your time now, we'll see ya down the High road sooner than ya think, when I see ya, I still want 10/6 :) take care.

It is Marie...Please pray for my dad. He has taken an unfortunate turn for the worst and might not make it through the night. Crystal and Jeff are there with him, and I am on my way from Tampa.

My prayers go out to Grady and his family and to all concerned. May God bless.

May peace be with him

Grady's heart, mind and body are leaving us behind. Now his legacy and all he has contributed to the sport of pocket billiards will grow into legendary status. Those who knew him will talk of him for many years. Those of us who traveled and chopped up scores with him can never forget him. I'm happy I was able to tell of some of his exploits in my writings.
Grady Mathews was, make that is, a well disguised prince of the sport.
God bless you Grady. You're going to a better place. And, God bless your family.
Your friend and brother, Alfie

This is perfect,as a pool player myself, i have the most respect for Mr.GRADY,IT DOESNT SEEM SO LONG AGO,THAT MR.GRADY WAS THE MOST FEARED 1POCKET PLAYER ON EARTH,NOW SOON HE WILL CARRY THAT REPUTATION TO HEAVEN!

Good Bye Mr. Mathews.

Seeing Grady at the DCC tournament was special, he looked happy and at peace being there. A few days ago I went on to Facebook and brought up Grady's pictures, and I was pleased to see him look so at peace with his daughter Marie. I felt that my friend was in a place that he was ok with, and that made me feel good. I'm sad as many are that we're losing a special person, and I was fortunate to have shared a large part of my life with him. We played many times, we did commentary together that will never be forgotten, and we argued endlessly about ...well just about everything. But we both know that we love and respect each other, and that's what really counts. So goodbye my friend and I will pray for you, and when you get to heaven wait for me, because we can continue our ongoing rivalry. Mr. Mathews.

In my prayers,
Billy Incardona
