Never heard of ultra skinned layered...tell us more.

I would like to start out by sayin that since I started playing pool seriously that I started with MOORI hard tips, then MOORI became very hard to get and expensive...... so I switched to TALISMAN hard and they were good for awhile but then they became a junk tip......Next for me was KAMUI BLACK hard. I loved this tip and have played with them since they came out, but I was playing a guy and my tip glazed over on me and I couldn't draw my rock more than 6 inches. Needless to say, I was not happy and losing money!...... Brent Hartman was making me a set of cues and he was gonna put the KAMUI BLACK's on it but I told him that I wanted to find another tip because I want more consistency and cheaper since I have over half of the tip cut off when installed......He told me about ULTRA SKIN and I thought he was talking about condems at first (they should really change the name of them lol)......I can honestly say that I always said that I wouldn't play with a soft tip because I didn't want to deal with the mushrooming that I hear about...... I was so disgusted with KAMUI (and the dam price going up all the time also), that I had a ULTRA SKIN installed by BHQ...... I have played with it for 3 or 4 weeks now and I have to give praise that I REALLY LIKE ULTRA SKIN TIPS!!..... Brent at BHQ just installed ULTRA SKIN TIPS on all my shafts for my BHQ and my CARMELI......The only thing that takes some time to get use to is the fact that I actually get more spin and draw than I want sometimes......I hope the name of them changes, but they don't try to cut corners and change how they make them now just to save money......I am one of the better players in Cincinnati and I am fortunate that I have 2 great cue-makers (DICKIE NEIGHBORS and BRENT HARTMAN) who have always been up to speed on the ever changing industry that we all love. I would recommend this tip to anybody at any skill level....Thanks

I tryed kamui for awhile.Good tip but so is moori.Couple of years ago I fell in love with Hercules Xtra deluxe hard, hard, hard.Well i didn't think i'd ever change.Stocked up on them because they don't make them anymore. So Tom had a special deal on his med.soft tips and i tryed them.I not a good judge of soft so i put them on a couple of my customers cues. One really liked it the other not so much. Then he came out with the med.hard and i put it on a cue i had just sold.Played with it for 1/2 an hour or so and i'm thinking this is pretty good.Well i pressed one and put it on one of my playing shafts. The rest is history. It seems to get better the more you play with it.It does everything you ask of it and more.It is way better them kamui and from now on i'm buying ultraskin and maybe make a few dollars installing them. Thanks Tom you have a great product.Rick. p.s. I have no connection with Tom other than buying his tips.

neither. layered tips are garbage. (for me anyway)

i just rip them apart, and blow through the layers like crazy!!!! I jump full cue when i need to jump usually and i also like to break with my player. so...

I like my Keith special milk duds. he has his "Ancient Chinese Secrets"

i'd be curious to see results of this same poll a year from now

how long has kamuii been around ?

tom's tips been out, what ? 2 months ? 3 months?

Thanks everyone. The poll is not quite right as voters voted Kamui that have never tried my tips, a requirement of the poll.

I liked the last post of BHQ as there is no question I am a new kid on the block.

Yes a year for new poll sounds good but I will have one in 6 months, give the tips a little longer to whisper in peoples ears.

For me,I've been very disappointed in most Kamui tips I've tryed. The only one that was superb was the older brown Kamui Hard tip.It was like a rock but took chalk really well. But to be fair I've never tryed a hard ulta-skin tip yet but would like to.

I gotta come clean... I read, Which tip do you prefer? and clicked on Kamui before even reading the post. So in all fairness to Tom and the Ultra Skin tips, I am a nit and my vote is null...:o
I will be more than happy to try them out as soon as a new tip is needed...
Sorry Tom for the confusion and my trigger finger :D

Clint,

I am ovewhelmed and humbled by your post. It reminds me that the game we know and love is a Gentlemans, and Ladies Game.

When the time comes, if you let me know, I will send you your choice of UltraSkinLayered tips and paypal to have it installed. If after a fair trial by your standards you find you do not like my tip I will PayPal to have the Kamui of your choice put on.

Thank you for being who you are.

Thanks,
Tom

Been playing Kamui Blacks since they came out. Obviously (well I think obviously) like most here in this thread I have never heard of your tips before but I am intrigued.

If you'd care to send me one, I'd surely put it on an identical shaft to another with a Kamui black and give a side by side test/evaluation and post my results.

Currently I can not answer your poll but I do wish you good luck in your endevour. :)
