I'm curious about what cue wrap preferences are at this time. What kind of wrap do you prefer on your primary playing cue?

1. Irish linen wrap

2. Typical leather wrap (cow, calf, or pig--smooth or textured)

3. Exotic skin or hide wrap (snake, kangaroo, elephant ear, ostrich leg, etc)

4. Cork or cork/rubber wrap

5. Wrapless

Thanks, Martin

I prefer wrapless, i enjoy the beauty of the wood. Its probably just my imagination.,but it has a different hit to me with wrap,it has no feel to it.

I prefer smooth or very lightly textured leather. I also love the feel of cork/rubber.

I prefer leather to any other wrap, especially the glove-smooth variety. My hands do not sweat that much, and leather provides the best feel and absorption for me. I have examined many cues with all different types of wraps, linen, leather (including pigskin, elephant ear, kangaroo, ostritch, lizard, and stacked) with differing textures but when I put my hand on a cue with the old-style smooth black (calfskin?) it felt immediately right to me. I just had a cue re wrapped this way and could not be happier.

Martin,

I protest! I know stack leather is leather, but it's unlike all other leather wraps. Maybe it should have had it's own category. If I can't have stack I would probably go with wrapless now.

Chris

Well,I voted wrapless but I really like the stack leather on my Lebow. When its burnished it almost feels wrapless.

Wish I could play more often with wrapless...
But my hands just get to sweaty. I gotta go with pressed linen for the serious matches. I play too many people better than me to not be constantly nervous when at the table when I'm trying to figure out my "out"...lol

And STACK LEATHER should definitely have its own category! That stuff is great.....

Wrap preference

I agree stacked leather should have its own category.

Further, if you take a snake skin and cover it up with clear coat - you have something that feels pretty close to a wrapless cue (since you can not feel the wrap). Although it looks great.

I prefer a layer of refried beans sandwiched between a flour and corn tortilla.
Mmmmmmm.......Taco Bell:p

Oh--sorry about that, wrong "wrap".

Smooth leather is my pleasure;)

Martin, it appears we're on the same wavelength. My favorite all-time wrap is that boar's hide leather that Phillippi does. Cork also is real nice....it's been several years since I have played with one, though. I like some of the other exotic hides, as well, and could play with just about anything...but when it's all said and done, to me nothing beats smooth or light texture leather.

I prefer lizzard leather wrap for me. Perfection is a must with any leather wrap. Any and all leather wraps should be perfect......... I loathe sloppy leather wraps.

Hey Chris, I plumb forgot about Tiger Stack! I wish I would have listed it as a seperate category! I wonder if I can add it.
