Well said. I tuned in to watch the game not listen to the commentator speak. British announcers are generally pretty good about that.

I make exceptions for Grady, Danny and Billy as I enjoy their stories.

Danny always comes up with great stories

I'm not too fond of Mitch's commentating. There is one thing he always says that just sticks in my craw and that is when he says "______________(insert any name here) has come out in this first rack and is really trying to make a statement." (Me thinks that he is really trying to pot balls and run out the rack ;) )

OTOH, ANYBODY, and I mean ANYBODY is better than listening to that wacko Sid Waddell. That dude is like the "Crocodile Hunter" on speed :D !!!

Well, If you really want to put pool on the map, I would suggest using Jeanette Lee, Lori Jon Jones and Jasmine Oschan wearing low cut mini dresses. But seriously, Danny D. and Alen Hopkins would make the perfect combination.

Ewa's pretty hot, but her commentary isn't any good. They can put hot babes on the sidelines and that's all good, but they still need quality commentary.

Danny D already has a gig on accu-stats and he's ond so I don't know if he'd be able to do 2 gigs. I like Allen Hopkins, even I'm tired of him using the same old tired job line in every match about "going out on a limb" and "making a prediction" that a player is going to run out when the balls are all hanging on the pockets.

Jeanette Lee could be a the tele prompter expert.

There's some Scottish pool announcer who's really entertaining to listen to. He does some of the international tournaments. He has a very heavy accent, you can't understand a lot of what he says, but he's very high strung and very entertaining to listen to. Does anybody know who this guy is?

For pocket billiards commentary, Billy Incardona, Grady Mathews, and Danny Diliberto can spot the rainbow to the rest of the universe.

Case closed.

When I purchase stuff at Accu-Stats, I scroll through and look for the codes GM, BI, and DD - I know I'll get good commentary.

Mitch and Ewa, Mitch & Allen Hopkins, Mitch and Mark Wilson ... they presents the image that the WPBA and/or ESPN wants to project. I think they all do a good job in their own way.... no complaints here.

I also think Jim Wyche is excellent, even though he calls the balls "colors'... but hey... he is a good guy that has done a hell of a lot for pool!

I especially liked the commentary that Raj Hundal provided not too long ago. Excellent insight into the game by one of the best in the world.

I also like the commentary provided by John DiToro, Tony Robles, and I terribly miss Weenie Beenie - he was one of the best!

Fantasy Commentary team pick...
For ratings, put Earl in the booth with anybody. PPV sales would go through the roof!

ESPN wants to project? hummmmm.....I don't think they have any clue what they want, if they did they would of EVOLVED the programming to be cutting edge after all these years, they use pool for filler. I think they have spent more time making skateboarding events better than they do for pool.

ESPN doesn't care about pool, that's a known fact. They do nothing to help promote it and show it at the worst times for mostly filler. Ewa&Mitch are there for the mainstream viewers and they are not bad for that. Johnnyt

There is a time to talk and a time to be quiet. What really bugs me is when a player is talking, either to his opponent or someone in the crowd, and the commentator keeps talking right over him/her. I'd like to hear what that player is saying, wouldn't you?

I appreciate a commentator who is quiet when the player is shooting. Let us watch the shot together and then he/she can talk about what just happened. Too much commentary is also not a good thing. Often the action speaks for itself. And constant plugging of the sponsors gets a little annoying after a while.

98% of viewers ARE mainstream viewers. Too many of the players don't talk like regular people. They sound like they just made it out of grade school. He hit that ball perfect. Did you see what he just done? Man, he hit that ball good. The list goes on. At least Mitch and Ewa are gramatically correct most of the time.

Girls play it on TV...............

I asked a group of guys in a sports bar about this and they all said the same thing. "Who watches girls play pool?"
The one guy that knew who any pool players were said he never watched because there were no mens shows only
the girls playing nine ball.
I admit the women look better but they aren't anywhere near the men in ability.

Slasher has right that the English announcers are better.
