Pool enemies

Hate might be too strong a word. Dislike a great deal :) is more to the point for me.

How I deal is by beating em every time I can on the pool table. Pisses em off, especially the ones who believe they are of greater skill.

Back when I was a youngster on AZ someone posted they didn't want to play "James" because he was an ass. He was "bad action". I didn't quite understand. The guy had money so WTF? 'Cause In God You Trust" and shoot 'em til he's bust!

However, I soon learned... There's a guy round my parts, and he gets loud, all the damn time. Top it off he's a nit that has a yo yo on his petty wad.The entire pool hall hears him, every other shot at 75 decibels. Anyway, I played him and he was so annoying I just wanted to either clock him or chew my head off at the neck. Loud and obnoxious just don't do "James" justice.

Now I just give him a nod as I walk by. If he's absolutely bellowing close by, I'll say something like an anonymous "STFU", albeit I say it tactfully-ish.

Pop-off nits, they deserve the knuckles and out.

Did he play you for a dollar?

There is one like this where I play a lot only he is more like 85-90 decibels when he gets wound up. Never will gamble even super cheap but if you play one of his "friends"(people who tolerate him lol) he will come over and hassle you the entire time you are trying to play.

I deal with him by totally ignoring him and trying not to play in the immediate area where he is. Tonight him and his crew infected the area I was already set up in so I put in my stealth ear plugs:grin:

Keep Them at a Distance

Keep them at a distance but be very very nice to them. Makes them wonder what the hell you are up to!!!

Hu

If I posted something the guy might figure out it's him I'm talking about then he would know he gets under my skin.

What is this a campfire? What do you need stories for?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Allow someone under your skin and it will effect your game. If you dont like someone then change scenerie or only play in big time tournaments where these people are forced to be professional. The worst thing that can happen is your game improves.

One person I don't really care for is Pete Carr, master-rated player here in Portland. Never could play against him very well the couple times I played against him in league. Then I played in a bar tournament and had to play him first. He breaks and doesn't make anything, we play a couple shots and I win off of D's. I break and run to knock him to the loser's side. Before he even got 2 feet away from the table he turned to his buddy and said, "He sht-racked me." What a freaking whiner. Shoulda complained after the break or maybe he should learn how to really break a rack.

Not hated, but just an arch-nemesis because he keeps beating me in regionals is Mike Stevens. Almost knocked him out in 9b in 2007, barely lost to him in 9b finals in 2008, knocked him to the loser's side this year only to have him come back and beat me. Damn you!!

Other than that, it's the "you shouldn't have beaten me" players that get under my skin. Being skilled is one thing, being an egotistical jerk is another. Oh, and the couple of people out there that still owe me money.. that's not so cool either.

Gotta love them guys, Not saying he gotta shitty rack, but he's allowed to inspect the rack. I've made alot of people rerack because of it, after the first break and i make 3 balls. They try playing games with leaving space behind the front ball or the back row loose. Hes just a sore loser, I love playing them people, they just get more and more mad.

We have a guy in our league, who called a foul on my wife after she made the 8 ball. She called the pocket, pointed to it, and two of the guys teammates acknowledged the shot. It was a straight in shot, the guy had 6 balls left on the table. He said you didn't mark the pocket with a marker, that's what the rule book says..... so the verbal assault starts, he tells her learn to f'n read. He then proceedes to repeatedly tell one of the bigger guys on my team to shut up and so on, even tho my guy was talking to someone else.... He kept it up and got called outside... He shrunk bigtime, he called the APA and wrote a letter.... Yeah we lost a decent player, and my wife was put on probation, and nothing happened to this guy. We played that team again last night, he just sat in his chair and stared straight ahead. He also didnt play.

koolkat and dead money referrs to loud players. from my experiences those are always the guys that complain about being sharked by others in the room, always !!!

I hear that all the time from the other players that lose to my wife. Your no 3! I should have beat you. How do you think i feel when i play her at home? Is what i ask them. She safes the shit out of me. You have to play your opponent. I like to shoot her against higher numbers, because they get cocky because they are playing a hot girl and think she cant shoot. So they clean off the table and she just runs out, make a bunch of balls then safes them. Its pretty funny. She loses 2's and 3' because she hasn't figured out how to beat ball bangers regularly. You actually have to let them beat themselves. Because you leave 1 ball on the table and they miss a shot and get a accidental safety.

Gentlemen

Most players are pretty cool but what about the guys that make the ball when two balls are close together and there is no way the OB could be made and still be a good hit.
It's so obvious that you don't think to call someone over to watch but they hit it so hard unless you want to get into a major argument to prove it's a bad hit you just let it go.

It's called gentleman's pool, most guy's play it but some don't.
The guys that don't are the ones I hate to play and typically everyone knows who they are.
