Pool groupies

pool's image

Okay, Ive heard this term thrown around a few times in the pool world. One drunk guy (not naming names) ALMOST called me one. His nuts ALMOST met my knee. :lovies: Anyway here are my questions
1) What is a pool groupie? please be detailed.
2) Are there any pool groupies that you can name?
3) Do any of the ladies out there find the term pool groupie offensive (if your a man answering, then what does your inner woman think)
4) Should I have kicked him in the nuts?

If we are concerned about the image & popularity of pool, we don't need to encourage the dehumanization of women.

Kicks & knees to such regions of the anatomy should be reserved for mortal combat, followed up by...

Chances are, if they don't play much pool, and they are always around the players/tournaments whatever, and/or on the forums talking about pool/players, then yes they are pool groupies.

There are quite a few, some on here. They talk the most, but play the least. Useless, if you ask me.

I see pool groupies all of the time........

It's usually the servers in the pool room itself. I've lived from one side of the country to the other and it's always the same thing.

The great shots are the rock stars of the joint.......They are always there playing and the servers are always there working......it's bound to "go down".

It gets funny when they(the servers) realize that most of them are just unemployed bums with a talent........JMHO

Groupies

This is the funniest thread in a long time ...

That's true about about the servers, except they usually look for a young guy that's serious about Pool and on the rise, an up and comer!! LOL

Then there's the girls that hope their 'guy' wins some money or a tournament so they can get some crack.

And the girls that 'trade up' in players, going from one to another that is better than the one before, except they do this several times. They usually become 'Cougars' as they get older.

Some of these 'groupies' do actually become pretty good at Pool themselves along the way.

1) What is a pool groupie?
Answer: A pool groupie is sometimes a name that insecure bullies enjoy labeling females, so they are accepted in the group of bullies. These trolls usually live under a rock and have no life whatsoever due to their physical appearance, lack of intelligence to engage in fruitful colloquy, and continual exhibition of awkward ways. They sometimes thrive on putting down women, especially in public, labeling the females with unsavory names, so that they can feel good about their own miserable existence.

2) Are there pool groupies that you can name?
Answer: Read my answer to No. 1.

3) Do any of the ladies out there find the term pool groupie offensive...?
Answer: When I've been labeled this name in this past -- right here on this forum, in fact -- it actually made me chuckle. First and foremost, you have to consider the source. Usually, a man will call a woman a "pool groupie" when he's run out of ammunition to attack. He feels threatened by this woman and, thus, comes up something he thinks will cause hurt and/or anger. Second, when you're my age, to be called a "pool groupie" is kind of comical. Third, I'm comfortable in my pool world, as I was involved with pool long before many of today's pool peeps were even born.

4) Should I have kicked him in the nuts?
Answer: No. He'll end up kicking his own nuts as times goes by. People who resort to these kinds of tactics of name-calling are truly not worth your effort. Their true colors will reveal themselves in due time.

JAM!!!!!!!!! You rock

JAM may not be a pool groupie but I see some tendencies, don't take that too seriously!

A rule of thumb for the pool groupie is if she has slept with multiple guys that play out of the same pool room, she's prob a pool groupie.

When you come in to town, the first girls in a pool room to normally start conversating with you tend to be pool groupies, it's like being the new kid in high school.

The females that work at these places you go to shoot at are on average about 90% pool groupies or reformed groupies.

The final way I have found to tell if you have a pool groupie on hand is when it gets late in the night and this girl wants to play a game or two with you and if you run out you get the buns. I have also had two girls play doubles against just me, the bet was I win straight to my house, they win to the strip club and then to my house....it was early I lost...then I won and won and won and just kept winning!

I do take your comment seriously and feel insulted, but that was your intent. I'd tell you to shove it where the sun don't shine, but it is against the forum rules to antagonize other forum members. Of course, you thought you were clever to post this veiled insult to me. As usual, I saw right through it. You've always been so kind to me in previous forum interactions.

Suffice it to say, believe it or not, I had a life before, during, and after my pool years. As far as who I've slept with, well, let me just say they weren't all people who played pool.

Of course, there are some men who I'd label as pool groupies, you know, the kind who post on pool forums and don't have the foggiest notion of what the "15 and 4" in one-pocket means or "break and first shot" or "orange crush" or "three and out."

These are men who like to hang with the pool people on pool forums and give the appearance to others that know something about pool. In essence, they're usually loud-mouthed nits who like to pretend they're somebody on a pool forum. They do exhibit a gang mentality quite frequently on various threads; tag-teaming with trolls, multiple-identitied members, and forum bullies, if you will. They seek out the most arrogant forum members and align themselves with these posters, always agreeing with whatever they write, hoping to feel accepted.

They oftentimes post retorts immediately after forum bullies in an effort to "fit" in with the group. They feed off of flame threads. They basically have no life and can't help themselves to act in this manner. Forum pool recognition, in essence, is all they got. In the pool room, they're usually congregating in a corner by themselves with other male pool forum groupies and can only watch the show. They're always the first person in line to ask the pool player for their autograph and then go back on the pool forum and bad-mouth that pool player. In sum, they're pathetic.

Yep, I should have covered this topic first: male pool forum groupies. Thanks for the reminder. You post is quite helpful in this regard. :)

BTW, there is one way to uncover a male pool forum groupie. Mikeyfrost, is it true that you wear a Size 5 shoe?

JAM <---regrets posting in this thread and should have known better

in any social setting the alpha dog gets alot of attention from females. It is what it is. We have all seen it in the bars, in the pool room, at the rock concert.

Id be lying if i didnt say that I find a hot girl who runs out at least the 8ball more attractive. ok maybe just the last two
