Pool Maxims...

Even funnier is the guy that says; I planned that; a two way shot !! hear this all the time !

Me too. It kind of begs the question.... "why would an oppenent give a damn about what the other player intended to do"?

I've never understood that. Why do they do that? Is it insecurity? Can't get over themselves? Excuse making after dogging it? Seems pointless except in an instructional setting in the case of a two-way shot.

I don't know if this fits here but I like this one........"he got all the rolls that set, does he work in a bakery"? "I hope he brought a lot of bread with him cause I'm going to turn him into toast this set" !

Excellent thread. I hope to see many more maxims posted.

FYI, for a long time, I've maintained a list of maxims I've heard and read over the years. Your thread encouraged me to post them online, including the ones from this thread that weren't on my list already. All of them can be found, organized in categories, here:

Top 100 Pool and Billiards Maxims, Sayings, and Quotes

I've also included a link back to this thread at the top of the list for reference and acknowledgment.

Please let me know if there are any important or popular ones I've missed.

Enjoy,
Dave

You missed both of mine.: (
Sorry, but I had to limit it to what I thought were the "Top 100." I'm sure I'll remove and add some as time goes on. What are the two that you think should be in the top 100?

Regards,
Dave

ah- missed that "top 100" part.

Never mind, mine surely didn't make the cut.

I would recommend using Danny DiLiberto's corrollary for 34( You don't know what you don't know.):
Code:
If you knew what you didn't know you wouldn't not know it.

Good idea.

Done.

If you are ever alone with a pool player, hide your car keys, your wallet and your wife. Not necessarily in that order ;)

The two I find myself muttering to myself.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should

Perfect is the sworn enemy of good enough

Wish I'd read this one last sunday. In a room full of pool players I left my keys out in the open.
Someone jacked them and stole my car.
