I sent a rough draft (95% complete) to Joey for him to review. To date, he is the only person who has read this.

Tell the truth Jay..... The real reason Joey got the first peak is because you feel bad about dodging him playing 1P and you're baiting the Gingerbread Man into the 1P/banks game!!! It can't be just coincidence that this goes down 6-7 weeks before DCC... Instead of the tush hog approach you're going with you'll catch more bees with honey move.... You move good but I'm not letting Joey get the wool pulled over his eyes.

Count me in for a copy. The way this thread is going, you will be over 500 sold before the first one is ever printed.

My goal once again is to have copies ready by DCC. I don't know how realistic that is, but that's my estimated ETA. By the way, thanks Joey for the nice review. I'm glad you like it. I feel the second half of the book is stronger than the first. Better stories!
Jay if you want to get it done pretty fast you need to roll and here is a company that might can do it for you. I plan to use them to publish my Christian Allegory that is now being proof read. If you print a 1000 books the price is pretty good. http://www.morrispublishing.com/

jay, i will take 5 copies. thanks chuck starkey

Happy days Chuck, my Starkey cue came home from Salt Lake City. It had been in the possession of a certain Mark Tadd. As long as he was playing with it, cool. But the moment he got tired of it I wanted it back. Steve Leistokow retrieved it for me a couple of weeks ago. I do like that cue! Super nice hit!

Jay,
How much for the signed very FIRST copy? I want that one, seriously. I also want another copy to read. I'll put the first copy up.

my thoughts exactly I want to put one up, I had an old tournament program, it had several of the older pool players in it autographed R.Allen-St.Louie Louie<-->St.Louie Louie<-->St.Louie Louie<-----Sigel-Varner-B.Hall...and several others. St.Louie was the only reason I wanted the program plus his autograph.

So to make a long story short (pipe busted) in my basement ruined everything in my Den. I didn't care about my replacable stuff, but the Insurance Co. replaced everything but the tournament program.

So this wont happen again.

Hi Jay....

Glad to see the book is nearly finished......I am one who also wants to read it....This business of getting a book published brings up a question I've had in my mind for some time now.......I'm hoping somebody here at AZB can shed some light on this.....

In this age of Internet commerce, haven't books been simply uploaded to the Net and sold in that way, effectively bypassing a publisher? I'm not sure about this, but it seems like an option that would eliminate a "middleman", so to speak......Does this process already exist? I know, lots of people would rather purchase a hard cover or paperback book; but I just thought it might be an option..............?

Just a thought, eBooks are a good bet. I would go this route first, then if you sell enough, go with hard copy.

too late on the very FIRST copy. :)

I'm looking forward to this book. Stories that you'll hear in a pool hall are among the funniest and most amazing stories you can hear.

The other night at the hall we were talking about crackheads. One guy said they used to have a cracky come around asking what they wanted (stolen goods). One guy chimes in that he needs a riding lawn mower. At about 2am they said they heard the riding lawn mower coming down the road (a major road at that...near the freeway). This guy went to Home Depot w/gas, stole a riding lawn mower and drove it to this guys work.

Seems to me an interesting way to more accurately gauge demand for the book orders at this point would be to start a poll, say something along the lines of 'At $20, how many copies of the book will you be buying?' with the choices ranging one through six. That way you'll get not only a fair idea of overall sales, but also the ability to 'trend' the orders, in light of how many people seem to want multiple copies.

Also, many people have luck with self-publishing agencies like XLibris in instances like this where there's significant interest up front - really helps mitigate the potential for loss and the pain in the ass of dealing with a traditional-type publishing house. But whatever you do, make sure you retain the ability to tie in with Amazon!

LOL, with fatboy's input, Jay may print 2,000 copies and sell 500. Then, when the price quadruples, he may get off them one at a time for the next decade. :)

(if he's smart......................and I know that he is)

good observation, this crossed my mind about 3 weeks ago when I bought a copy of Buddys book(which is autographed) I believe he autographed them all(smart move), I cant bear to think what I paid for that book, Had Buddy printed just 3 or 4 extra cases of his book he woul be a rich man now. I truely hope Buddy got paid, if he didnt he left alot of $$ on the table.
