Pool Wars by Jay Helfert

no, I'm talking about the very first copy of the book itself.

The printer always gets the very first copy and that copy would be VERY EXPENSIVE to obtain but I could possibly be of some help. :D

Congrats (95% anyway)

I just wanted to congratulate you on your book for my 1st ever post. I met you for the 1st time last month in Fayetteville, NC at Shannon's event. I'm looking forward to reading the book and hopefully seeing you again at DCC this year.

Here is a little bit about Jay:... When Jay Helfert dsays something its exactly how it was, no fluff. And I like that, no I love that. I dont like war stories that didnt happen...

But he has been known to wear a toupee.

reprints?

good observation, this crossed my mind about 3 weeks ago when I bought a copy of Buddys book(which is autographed) I believe he autographed them all(smart move), I cant bear to think what I paid for that book, Had Buddy printed just 3 or 4 extra cases of his book he woul be a rich man now. I truely hope Buddy got paid, if he didnt he left alot of $$ on the table.

Why was there only a limited number of Buddy's book printed? It seems that there is such a demand for it now that a copy is pretty expensive. Isn't there such a thing as reprinting and making more copies?

For Jay's book, POOL WARS.

Jay Helfert is and has been successful as a pool player, a road warrior, a card player, a stake horse, a gambler, a pool room owner, an entrpreneur, a tournament director, a professional pool commentator, a billiard consultant for the television and film industry as well as a tournament promoter amongst other things.

Don't expect for these pool stories to be sugar-coated because they are an exact accounting of Jay's genuine experiences and he brings you to each of them, up close and personal. As a battle-seasoned veteran of the pool world, the experiences Jay shares with you will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last.

If you want to see the chronology and the evolution of a person who lived and breathed pool as most of us only dared dream, you'll want to read this one from cover to cover. Pool wars covers 50 years of pool and Jay's tell it like it is style will have you rooted in your chair.

You will feel as if you are there with him, fading the harrowing experiences, making the bets, winning and losing, learning all the while from con men of long ago. It's never-ending excitement of one realistic experience after another.

POOL WARS is sure to stimulate and rekindle pool players' interest in seeking the thrilling excitement shared by Jay chapter after chapter.

This will be going on the back cover. I asked Joey to share it with you I liked it so much. My fault.

@Jay:

Congratulations on the book!

I'm in for two (2) signed copies!

Hope you can ship to the Philippines....

Is someone taking names for autographed copies? I need two. I can't wait for the finished product.

I know a printer if you need one. (potentially)

Please put me on the list for 3 autographed copies!

Jay, I am really pleased that you finished your book project! Can't wait to read it. I hope you used some of Mike's and my old pool photos as you know you were welcome to do. Again, congratulations!

Damn Joey...we get it. Are you getting paid by the word for this?

Whoa!
I didn't see no smiley face at the end of your question....so does another plug by our dearly beloved JoeyA for our dearly beloved Jay really bother you that much? Or was it tongue in cheek?

Consider it a commercial, since we can't get this info on Jay's book onto ESPN or FOX Sports just yet. I, for one, liked it. And I also watch every Geico commercial that features a caveman, even though I seen 'em all before. They're still good stuff. So, if Joey wants to post a forward, or a preface, or post what his Uncle Buck thought about Jay's book, iIll be glad to read that also.

The jury is still out on your post until more info is obtained. While we ponder your intentions, please review this video. It was written and sang totally in honor of the esteemed members of AZB discussing pool, pool biographies, questions for the pros and everything else related to pooldom.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcNUx0-XEfw

Also, EVERY single person in that video has already PRE-ORDERED Jay's book and will be tuning in whenever the Honorable JoeyA does more pool commentary. So, you can't touch that post of JoeyA's!

(:D :D :D :D :D  )

He's Me Pal, He's Me Pal, HE'S ME PAL !!!!!

Well, I've already heard almost the entire book and it's great. When I called JoeyA. and he told me that he was about to begin reading Jay's advanced copy, I asked him to just lay his phone on his desk.
Poor Joey has no idea that his lips move and he reads out loud while he's reading. (he laughed, he cried, he coughed & sputtered....but he got through it all)

Doug
(it's nice to have JoeyA. as a friend.... imo) :)

DONE DONE DONE DONE! I'm ready to put this one to bed. I think I've told all the stories I want to this time. Now it is time to create a cover, add photos, design the format for the book and get it printed. From what I've learned so far, this is a 4-5 week process. I promise to keep you posted.

Please put me on the list!!

I will take 1 for sure ( signed please), maybe 2.

Let me know where and when to send $$$

Jay,
I forgot to add myself to the list. I would like to order one copy for myself and one copy for Buffalo Billiards, my home pool room in New Orleans. A signed copy would be lagniappe.

I think the pool rooms will want to order at least a dozen of your books to keep in inventory for their customers and I predict that POOL WARS will make the pool room's BEST SELLER'S LIST within two weeks. :D
