I received the following "anonymous" press release this week. I didn't feel comfortable posting it as a story, but I am assured we will have more info later in the month...

RUMOR HAS IT…

(February 5, 2016) – Rumor has it that there is a new nationwide billiards tour about to launch. The tour will cater to the more seasoned players with an emphasis on developing up and coming players as well. This new organization is expected to offer tournaments open to professional players around the country with the opportunity for semi-professional and amateur players to compete alongside.

According to the rumor, the new tour will initially offer women’s events, then expand with a men’s and juniors’ program. More information is expected to be released in the coming weeks so stay tuned!

I want to be optimistic about this...I really do. But after being around this for so long and seeing the disappointments of the Camel Tour, IPT, Bonus Ball, etc...it is very hard to get excited.

With that being said, it sounds like they are going to try build the foundation for the professional tour first, then immediately address the grass roots players to build on the structure at the top. Not an entirely bad way to go about it. I'll wait for further information before I hold my breath.

Hopefully the players do not, as they do just about every time, put the cart before the horse and expect to make big bucks right out of the gate. They have to establish a healthy, sustainable product first, and then they will get paid. Fingers crossed...

I'm curious as to the funding and sustainability as well. Just wait n see i guess.

I'm going to need a handicap spot. I can't play anyone even. I need games on the wire, the wild 7, and 8 and all the breaks, plus a reduced entry fee. I also want a big trophy if I finish 24th and my picture in a billiards magazine. If I can't get that, I'm going to whine to the owner of the poolroom until I get my way.
 
Before it gets going it is going to need a strong board of directors.

THE BURMAN BOYS The elder would be responsible for ensuring that an annual new version of the SSB is mutilated by a different singer each year.

But he is not allowed to sing harmonies. The younger could give us his version of Danny Boy (Harriman).

JEAN FRENCH - aka The Scarlett Pimpernel, they seek him here, they seek him there. He was French wasn't he?

That lot would get the job done

Something good has happened in Pool and most people have no idea what it is. I'm not sure I want to tell.
