I went at 10:18am this morning to the post office to ship a cue over night to california. The nice young lady then proceeds to charge me $25.50 for it and then tells me the best she can do is 2nd day delivery. She cannot guarantee overnight. Wait a minute. I asked how long does it normally take. She said maybe 3-4 days. I said send it anyway as i had promised next day (which now won't happen. sorry if you read this. i tried.) now the kicker. after she takes it and does what she has to she tells me that it will be delivered regular mail....i just laughed and walked out...now, please tell me. Should i just have cancelled it and sent it regular mail since it would only take an extra day or so. or shipped it overnight UPS or FED-EX.............mike

No problems with USPS service for me.

At my post office if I pay for overnight service that is what I have always recieved. For the difference in price I use Priorty Service which always get my cue to the customer within 2-3 days just as it states and at the cost of less than 10 dollars, insured mail will cost a few dollars more based on the amount of the insurance you purchase. I have never had any problems with the USPS and always recommend using them for all your shipping needs.

I'd have asked for the supervisor.

Not all employees are created equal, if you know what I mean.

If it is hazardous /flammable material it must be sent MSDS which is ground transportation. She may have misunderstood you? If not, then next day should not be a problem with the PO. I have sent 80 lb packages overnight via PO w/o problems. I have also sent 2 day to Philippines w/o problem.

I've been cursed when it comes to shipments my entire life, not only ones being sent to me but ones being sent out from when I was running a mail order business.

I think more packages being sent to me have been lost, re-routed, delivered to wrong places and just plane late than ones who have reached me correctly lol.

I'd say that I'd rate the major shippers in this order: FedEx, UPS and lastly USPS.

FedEx for the longest time always did such a wonderful job but in the last 6 months they have screwed up about 5 times for me.

What gets me about USPS is that their prices in general are more expensive than using FedEx ground and sometimes even 3day select services. Their tracking system is also horrible and seems to often not be updated at all, espescially on non-overnight deliveries.

When I moved from NY to WA and shipped a bunch of stuff here beforehand I figured USPS would be the cheapest way to send something ground, since how long it took didn't make much of a difference at the time but was amazed to find that FedEx ground was about 25% cheaper.

shipping

I have use all fex ex UPS and the USPS .... for what its worth the post office is the best... and I have ship over 40 cues .... but I guess everyone is gonna drop the ball sooner or later.... I would have ask for my money back and when to another Post office ... unless it was the only one around within 5 miles.

Priority mail

I have been using USPS Priority mail. They have been getting my packages from Cal. to the east coast in 2 days. I always insure. The Post office only tracking is not a problem because it is there by the time you can track it anyway. If you need on line tracking you can get that by adding delivery confirmation for 55 cents. Knock on wood, no problems in over 200 transactions.:)

Usps

I have been a party to countless shipments to and from using USPS with no problems whatsoever. Their overnight service is to most areas, so sometimes it might depend on the address. Some P.O.s (as well as employees) are better than others, but that's life.

Have also had great service through FedEx. UPS has consistently been the worst, both for price and customer service. Their insurance policies are horrible.

Mike,

I prefer FedEx 2 day. With their superior on-line tracking and insurance options, they have never failed to come through for me. I've had one claim and they paid it, no questions asked.

My usual cost for 2 day air Fed Ex tube is about $25 or so (we have a company discount with them). Since I deal with more expensive cues, it's worth it to me. No complaints, no problems.

I agree with this. UPS is far and away the most unreliable service I have ever encountered. I have seen their drivers report that the recipient was unavailable to sign for a delivery and I was at the house waiting all day. I can see and hear the truck from my living room window and it never came. I have also had damaged contents with UPS.

I use Fedex Saver Express exclusively. Gets to most areas of the US in 2 days, and insurance is .40 per hundred dollars. Never had a single problem with Fedex.

Cue deliveries

I always use Priority Mail when using the USPS. I insure the cue and get a tracking number. For a two day it works fine. If I need to ship overnite, I will go with Fedex. They are the best.

Do not use the USPS for shipping out of the country (even to Canada). There can be problems on the receiving end and long delays. Stick with Fedex or UPS.

I shipped a package to Baghdad from Houston using USPS. I told them to ship it there as quickly as possible. I paid less than 30 bucks and the package was there 3 days later. She told me it had been opened by the military, but the food was still in it.:)

i never once had a problem with the post office.. i mail everything priority mail.. a couple of things i sent overnight.. but you need to have them at the post office by a certain time.. priority mail is 3 day garunteed.. but usually only takes 2 days to deliver.. i cannot complain about the post office.. they have always done good by me..

When I get stuff shipped from the U.S. I always specify U.S. Postal - Infinitely less trouble than UPS.:D

Always ship US post office Priorty Mail....Cheaper, quicker and never a problem....Nothing I have shipped this way has ever taken more than 3 days, and usually 2....Plus, they work on Sat, and UPS and FedX don't....
If you mail UPS on a Monday, it won't get there until the next Monday.....Five working days. Mail US post office on Monday and it gets there on Wed. or Thur......
