work

I love this forum. You must remember, when pictures are taken, there are shadows and lighting has a big factor. I am not saying that you can get all the wrinkles out, but different cloth and weather conditions do play a factor. Glen has posted alot of pics of his work and alot of us have learned form him. So all of you who think you can do as good, please post pics of your work, with customer references. After you go back and read all his post, you may know how to put a table together. We are not here to critisize, we are here to learn.
How about putting your money where your mouth is.
Thanks, Ron

You should know - someday you can tell us about those chariot extensions you used to do.

Just got off the phone with Ivan and he's still waiting for you - :D
BTW - what's your take on HR so far?

Thank you!

Thank you, Glen for all the great info here on this topic. I just did my first GC III extend job and it came out A+++. Especially like the way the taper at the pocket end of extension came out.

Again, sincere thanks for the info!

You can get the red at Home Depot, or Lowe's. Normaly I get it at a rubber supplier back home. Yes, I used 1/4" Mahogany ply, but I also have 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" solid wood at home for creating different openings.

Glen

What are these facings marketed as? Where would I find them at Lowe's or Home Depot? I don't think they have a pool table facings department. :D

I sell them but they arent on the site. Die cut for either coin tables or big ones for 3 piece tables. Come in sets of 4 little ones and 8 big ones. We have 1/16", 3/32", 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4" The stuff Home Depot has is smooth. Ours have what is called a cloth-face finish. Glue really sticks because of the texture. If you really want them in black neoprene (?) I can punch those out too.

I went back and opened up all the pictures;)

Glen,

I noticed in the pictures you used super-speed (or some other similar K-55) cushion. If you used Artemis intercontinental #66 on this Gold Crown would you have installed the Artemis cushion with the canvas on the top or the bottom? In other words, curved profile on the top or on the bottom?

On the Diamonds the Artemis has the flat profile (and canvas) on the top of the rail. I've read your previous post pertaining to this issue as it applies to Diamond tables, does this same process and benefit apply to Gold Crowns as well?

Thanks for all the invaluable info you provide through this forum, It's been very helpful

Hey Jay,
I installed the Brunswick super speed cushions on these rails, and as far as facings go, I got the rubber at Home Depot in the pluming section, it's gasket material, 1/8" thick, that was kind of in a pinch choice for cushion facings as I didn't have any 3/16" neoprene with me at the time. Yes, the Artemis Intercontinental cushions apply to the Gold Crowns as well, but so does the Brunswick super speed, but not the Artemis K66 pool cushion rubber. In order to install these cushions on a GC, the sub-rails would have to be modified, and I really see no point in doing that, as there is cushions that fit and don't have to be "Fitted" to the GC rails. As far as posting my knowledge here on AZ, there's a reason for doing that, and soon enough everyone will understand what and why I've been sharing my methods and systems with everyone.

I think that if you stand out as a mechanic, then you can get the respect and attention of everyone else, enough to at least say "hey, he knows what he's doing...because that idea works" As I've said before, all mechanics need to come together on the same sheet of music and "together" make something of our industry, in order to get "us" out of the ditches and shadows of this industry, and bring "our" union right up to the level of the cloth and table manufactures, as being JUST as important, even if not MORE so. What good is the best cloth, on the best table, if someone "claiming" to be a mechanic comes along and screws it up. All that does is give "US" a black eye, as the "after" condition of the table has NO bearing on what the cloth was that was installed, or who built the table, and THAT...is a black eye we all share standing alone!

Glen

Glen,

I was under the impression that Artemis Intercontinental # 66 was a K-55 profile as used on Diamonds and Gold Crowns.

And it is, the Artemis K66 pool cushions are of the K66 style of cushions, use for almost all other tables. Artemis makes both models of cushions, K55 and K66.
