Predator "black shafts?"

Predator moved there factory to china years ago.

Yeah they did, but did you know they're making the black shafts in Massachusetts? Do you really think they would send over a new product to china to produce? that's laughable. Call up Predator and ask them to connect you to the office in Mass.

I don't think Predator are interested in selling a shaft that 'lasts a lifetime'
That does not sound like good business for them imo

I think that is why the rumored price point is the 600-800 range. The shaft has potential to be the last shaft you would ever need to buy as long you don't switch joints. So they are going to charge a large amount to make a good profit because they could be losing that customer for life. Cause honestly how many predator shafts are people really going to buy, before they start trying other brands. This way they can keep their profits up while they sell less shafts.

I think it has great potential and looking to hear when it comes out. (even if it is just for the fact i like the looks and dont have to worry about dinging it)

It's interesting to hear some of the opinions on this thread. But I suppose that my take is a bit different than the "average bear" in regards to what a carbon shaft is capable of (Note that "carbon" and "carbon fiber" are as similar as a Black Boar is to Cuetec) as I have two friends who have masters degrees in composites and materials engineering, work at Boeing in that field, shoot with a few locals who are on a dedicated research team which designs bonding procedures for carbon to high strength aluminum, and live in an area which houses the following businesses.

Lamborghini Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory

SGL composite factory (partnering with BMW to produce their carbon monocoque chassis)

Notes: A carbon shaft would most likely not receive any "filler" agent or foam as production costs would go up quickly for no gain. It would be incredibly strong to the point that in normal use (or hanging gorillas from it), you wouldn't worry about directional fatigue. There would be no issues with "loose fiber" in a carbon shaft, even after being ground down to the taper needed.

that being said, I would anticipate that it would hit very hard and stiff, with little feedback aside from pressure put back into the stroking hand without some form of compensation or different materials used in the furell and tip.

So, they have a factory in Mass? REally, where is located ? How many sf? Seems silly to build cues in two different countries, doesn't it ?

Tony Roblès using one at the predator tour stop 5 at Gotham City Billiards now!

I worked for predator last year. And they do indeed make the new shafts in country.

Paul Costain of Uni-Loc lives in MA. and has a manufacturing facility either at his house or very close by, he is co-owner of the company but I'm not sure how much he is involved with the day to day operations.

Maybe they are being built in country because the don't want China to pirate the daylights out of the technology just yet.

Well, the info ain't gonna make anyone here happy, but here it is:

The black shaft is ONLY being offered on a 20th anniversary model, with an MSRP of $3445.
The launch date it 4/14, at the SBE in Oaks, Pa.

They will be doings demos at their booth for those going to the SBE...

There are NO plans to release it as a stand alone shaft in the 2016 calendar year..

Better get in line early. The APA-3's are going to be jostling and shoving, just like a Black Friday sale at WalMart during Christmas.

The first guy who buys one of these needs the cue to be named after him, but I don't know if "Sucker" as a name would sell too well.

$3400 for a production cue?
That must be a very, very, very special cue indeed...

HEY, 3 of my 7 lifetime APA 8ball losses were to APA 3's

Maybe you better be first in line to buy that shaft then.

I'm sure it will make a world-beater out of any player.

You will immediately jump about 7 levels, from what secret inside information that Snowden leaked out about it.

"Rain-Man, World-Beater"..... I do like the sound of that

The forced purchase with the 20th anniversary cue is unfortunate for those who do not see the value in their limited edition cues. I was hoping for a stand alone purchase, even if it was $600-$800. If I was already going to purchase the anniversary cue it would be a no brainer.
