The BCA should have focused on making pool an interscholastic sport decades ago. It could and would have worked. All those years chasing the Olympic dream were a waste of time and money!
They used to think that soccer was too boring for Americans, (what there isn't a goal every 5 minutes!?!)...and the first attempt to transplant it here basically failed...but this time it's going pretty well...isn't Snooker in England the most watched sport on TV, (that's what I heard once anyway)...and then look at Golf...man that's *so* exciting I can hardly stand it....

Are you kidding Dave? I've heard that comment a number of times...starting with Lou Butera saying it after he'd won a world championship. Most pro players live in the moment...i.e.: "what's in it for ME?...NOW, not 5 years from now!" Until they work together for a common goal, they, as a group, will stay in the same place they've been for decades...treading water!

Living in the moment has nothing whatever to do with with feeling you are owed a living. 80% of americans live paycheck to paycheck and 50% retire without one nickel in savings.
Jay.. All we have to do is change one word in your last sentence.
"All those years chasing the Pro Pool Players dream were a waste of time and money".
It would be very interesting to have a poll with the following questions.
1. Knowing what I know now I would still have chosen Pool as a profession.
2. I would not have chosen pool as a profession.
What percentage of Pro Pool players do you think actually made/saved enough money to sustain them in their golden years?
Not many I bet.
Don
And basically, didn't look back at pool the same way. Jay knows exactly how much John Lewis's Dream was to get the BCA to support his vision of Olympic Recognition. Yes, Jay, the BCA has wasted a lot of time, energy, and money on these fruitless endeavors. They didn't want to embrace real youth organizational structure to develop a future. The BEF has a handful of scholarships, but I doubt enough to have 1 per state. The Olympics,...WPA,WCBS,...worthless for developing youth pool. The BCA should have focused on making pool an interscholastic sport decades ago. It could and would have worked. The reason Pro Pool isn't successful has very little to do with the players. Just like all the rest of the sports and games, the business leaders are the ones that are in the position to make the difference, very rarely the players. This is true across the board in most sports and games.
FALSE
McGwire and Sosa and their home run battle saved baseball. .

Also, let me know what channel you find the Tour De France on this year.
