I am considering having Pat build a very nice sneaky pete for me but have never heard much about his work or the play of his cues. I am just interested what some of his peers and clients have to say about him and his work. Also if anybody thinks they know somebody who can do a better job please speak up. Either post your feelings here, pm me with them or send me an email at OnTheBreak@gmail.com. Also please post pics of your super nice sneakys available or not.

Thanks,
Rich

I have had several of his cues, from sneakies to fancy ivory/snakewood cues. Pat's work is first rate. His cues play extremely well, with a firm, crisp hit. You get a lot of cue for the money, also.

Pat is excellent, you can't go wrong ordering one of his cues. Are there other good cue makers, yes, but you will be more than happy. I have had 4-5 of his cues, and they all have played consistantly well. If I sold them, everyone who bought them, loves them.

I don't know whether you have seen indyq's website - if you have then I'm sorry :) Anyways, Roy has got many superfancy sneakies made by Pat and all I can say is: Wow... Like others mentioned already: those are a lot of cues for the money!!
I've read only 100% positive feedbacks of his work!

FWIW, Pat is local to me and I know a lot of people that own his cues. To a man, they have been very pleased. I test hit a few balls with a friend's Diveney and it was very nicely balanced and had a satisfying hit. The owner ordered it a little heavy but it didn't play like it. Pat (them man) is a upstanding, friendly guy too.

I have an Ebony/bocote butterly sneaky with snakewood and holly butterflys and g-10 pin....best playing cue i have had.....i love it

I have a butterfly sneaky from him (Birdseye forearm with ebony points). It plays and looks amazing (I would post pics but... I suck taking pictures). also pat is great guy to do bussines with

I have played with one of his butterfly SP's for 2 years(fancy Hustler). IMO beautiful clean work and they play great. Very nice balance. I think their playability, quality shaftwood and taper compares favorably to Bob Frey or even the Scruggs Hustlers. << what more can be said!.:) His upper end cues are knockouts.

Met Pat at the Olathe KS tourney recently, what a nice guy to deal with.

This is the cue I get Wed. from Roy at INDYQ, it has a G-10 Radial pin with Lake Wood shafts. I told Pat what I wanted and he built it exactly the way I wanted it. His craftsmanship is top notch and a great guy to work with. I highly recommend a Diveney, an awesome playing cue!!

Pat lives about 25 miles from me so Iv'e been to his shop a couple of times He doe's great work, you will be happy with anything you get from him. Ron

If I had my first custom purchase narrowed down to a Diveney (either a butterfly hustler or one of his regular sneakies), a Josey sp or a Bob Frey sp, which direction would you guys steer me? I'm interested in playability more than resale value, as it will be my daily player.

Bacote SP......from PD

I think I'd opt for a Bacote SP (Butterfly if you like'm) from Pat....probably with a phenolic joint, radial pin, melamine ferrule with a layered tip of your choice :D

I grew up about 90 miles south of where Pat lives in Iowa. My understanding is that he used to play a little bit and is all about playability for sure.

Nothing wrong with any of your other choices  ;) -- gotta tell you I had a PD cocobola fancy hustler butterfly that shot lights out and was my playing cue for a little over a year or so

Fit and finish was EXCELLENT too :)

Diveney...

Pat Diveney is a super nice guy, I purchased a rosewood sneaky used, and all of the weight bolts were missing. He sent me a complete set free of charge within days. As far as I know he makes his own blanks, which says alot. I may just have to go ahead and order another from him.... but I already have too many cues....

All in all, you can't go wrong with his cues. Having never used a Josey, Frey, or Scruggs I am unable to compare them. What I do know is that Diveney makes one hell of a cue at prices that can't be beat. If it's any indication of how good they are, you don't see them for sale on here often.

I've got mine on order

I placed my order with Pat a few weeks ago, and I will kepp you guys updated.

Good Choice!!!

Again, I think Pat's a helluva a guy and he makes a great cue too! Yeah, I've got lotsa cues to shoot with but, as the poster inquired, for the $$$ IMHO Pat is a excellent choice and very much an undiscovered talent :) ;)
