I'm sorry to hear this J-flo. He will be greatly missed.

Btw- How have you been? Haven't seen you on here in a while.

RIP Sailor

You gave a lot to the game your whole life, even when you could barely walk.

We won't see your like again soon.

The sailor of Racine. He gave me a lesson in the late 60's at his room before I played Varner in the Collegiate ACU-I 14.1 Midwest Finals.

Nicky won....then went on to beat Mike Carella in the ACU-I Collegiate National finals....Nick also, won the following year (69&70).

Vietnam years.

And the butt plate ''flair'' was his moniker....Jeff Carter/Mark Wilson played with Sailors at one time. Neat man.

I heard he wasn't doing well recently. Sad. RIP to someone who gave so much to the game! I know guys around here who were students of his and many who play with his cues. He will be missed!

So sad. May he rest in peace. He was loved by many, so he will live forever in their hearts.

Here is an AzB thread I posted in December of 2015: Straight Shooter in Racine

Another good friend gone! We had many talks about the 'Old Days' of Pool & Billiards around the Midwest!

Frank "Sailor" was a VERY good straight pool player, and loved to sweat 3 cushion in Chicago. I first met him in the late 60's at the, 'Antlers Hotel' in Milwaukee where they had a billiard room/cigar store.

R.I.P buddy! Say hi to the gang up there from Chi-town for me.

I was in Racine in '97 picking up some O'Neil cases...Mark O'Neil wanted to introduce
me to the Sailor....but he found Frank was out of town that day.
Missed my chance to meet the legend.

Rest in peace, Mr Stellman

This is an article about his possible induction into the Straight Pool HOF.

Always heard good things about Sailor, not just for cuemaking.
RIP to a very good cuemaker, and a great person for the game of pool in general.

As far as his cues go I've never owned one just because the right deal never came along.
I'm sure the Sailor cue prices will go up now, he seems like a cuemaker that people will collect.
The Sailor cues are kind of cool with that flared butt cap and all.

Sorry to hear of this. He beat a lot of great players in his day. He also trained a lot of the great players of today. RIP Sir

sad

My condolences to his family, I'm sorry for your loss. I have always loved the look of
his cues with the flared butt on them. RIP to great cue maker and player.
