Rare Meucci

I know a Meucci White Knight is a rare cue, but $3789 for a Meucci is over the top to me. I'd like to have some opinions on this cue and it's value.

James,

They were $950 new. I don't imagine they've gone up, but if they did, you can bet Meucci would issue a lot more!

Ps. Since it's a buy it now or best offer, he might take a lot less for it.

He played the cancer and getting laid off card. Maybe someone will feel bad for him and buy it at 4x the price with only one shaft and a chip in the finish. Who knows.

It's not rare... it's a spinoff from the david howard series model DH-4 by Meucci originals

I owned the Dh-4 model aka " the giant killer" and paid 680.00 for it in the late 80's back then it was an ebony forearm with a real ivory shield and sterling silver inlays....

That model cue was then converted to maple forearm w/synthetic imitation inlays a few years later by Meucci and it only went down the tubes from there ....

That cue in mint condition will be under a 1000.00 becasue there is no resale market for the newer meucci's only the "originals" maintained their quality and value !

Sorry to let you down but that cue isn't worth too much regardless whether they still make it or not becasue its not a Meucci original !

Well, in my opinion, it is a rare cue. To the best of my knowledge, only 20 of each "bizarro" cue was made. This is the term that folks have used to describe the Meucci cues with reversed colors.

If someone really wants to add one to their collection, and they have the money, I can see it selling for several thousand.

A year or so ago, a bizarro "City of Lights"/"Road Agent" sold for $2450 on ebay. There is a thread in the FS forum. It became known as the "Daytime Road Agent".

Basically, things are worth what folks are willing to pay for them.

Exactly... there are always unsuspecting victims out there that the wolves can take advantage of !

Very sad !!!

See, when I read the title "Rare Meucci"..... I thought you were going to tell us about one that wasnt warping, and played well.
Oh well, I still hold out hope.
Chuck
ps
In all fairness, Bob Meucci has made a few nice cues over the years..... too bad he never sold any of them though..... :D

you'd have a hard time pealing that kind of cash out of my hands for a southwest! a meucci's a meucci anyone that spends that much on one should contact me. i have some ocean front property in Arizona for sale

I used to sell the City Lights cues for about 450 to 600 (wholesale) or so in the early 90s and would move quite a few. I don't think I sold any of those that you're thinking of buying, but older Meuccis don't typically sell that well because of a tendancy to warp.

Meucci would bleach the shafts to make the cues look pretty, but since the wood was not aged that long the shafts would bend sooner than others.

I'm in agreement with those who believe it's a big rip-off.

Anybody would be crazy to pay that for a Moochie. My predot one has been better than any (the 95-8 model 2 pointer) other Mooch I've ever shot with. Has a much stiffer hit that the ultra soft red dot and the clanky black dot.

I'm selling my HP-3 if anyone is interested. It has a red-dot shaft on it. The older one will be saved as its my very first cue and a b'day present from my family. No nicks that I know of, shot with very rarely and bout it Christmas of 07.

But in terms of workmanship the 95-8 blows the HP-3 out of the water. What odder is I bought a HP-3 to the same specs as my brothers with a red dot and it shoots totally different. His cue is very stiff to be a new Mooch with a red-dot shaft. I see that Bob is actually coming out with a few cues every year that he supposedly made himself. They look great as do alot of Moochies but we want some hit for a change!

Thanks as I was trying to remember who had this cue. He was trying to sell some cues a few months ago and this was one of them.

Lol

I enjoy this thread some.

I have bought and sold lots of cues. Probably made the most from Meucci cues. I can turn the very quickly and usually pick the up cheap, sometimes very cheap.

I would love to see a full blown picture feature on the MEUCCI ROAD RUNNER CUE.

It could possibly be worth something for collection purposes; although, I seriously doubt that it is worth nearly as much as the asking price.

I played with a Meucci for a short while back in the 80s and , in my opinion, That money could be much better spent from a playability standpoint. I think that I gave the one that I had away for far less than I actually paid for it.

I'm not the expert but I would say he is keeping that cue but I guess you never know with ebay.
