recession

I don't think that the depression is comming, it is here. Putting a 700 billion dollar bandaid on the problem is not going to help either. This is probably the stupidest idea ever concieved. Or it is the largest theft ever done.

I was in construction, I have not worked now in nine days. It is getting real bad. I moved to a state that was allready in the crapper (47th) in the nation.

I am feeling it long before anyone else. I made some stupid moves trusting people...My lifes savings is gone and I am as broke as when I moved out of my moms house at 15. I guess my uncle was right, broke can happen at any time, and might be because of your principals.

There are riots in the streets down here in NC. No national coverage on it, but people it is going on. I think it will get much worse too. Now with the loss of your right to a trial, and the fact that they can tourture you and jail you for no cause. I sure don't even feel like a citizen in the USA.

This presidential vote is a joke, and the future looks bad, if you have some cash and a passport. I would advise you to flee the country before it takes 100 dollars to buy a yen.

Have you seen the movie Idiocracy?

They changed all the streets to skreets and there is mass confusion. :grin-square:

Riots in the streets where in NC? And why are they rioting? If it's because of the economy or no jobs they need to riot in Washington. Johnnyt

they are rioting for gas there has been no gas for about a week and a half, when you find some lines are 2 hours long and if u have over a half tank u cant buy any, cops at almost every gas station to keep people from fighting, i dont plan on leaving the country i think we still live in the best country

Well, this is my take on it... most of the gas stations are without fuel here. The ones that do have fuel are being over run with people and they are starting to smash cars into eachother. Some even pull out guns to get better spots in the lines. Hell yesterday people were camping in front of stations for gas. When it didn't arrive they stayed all day too.

I guess they still have work to do, and think they take presidence over everyone else, it is crazy. The police are directing traffic at the pumps... It's straight out of the twilight zone. Pretty hairy stuff man...

They are charging up to $4.62 and claiming they only have premium unleaded...

We just lost 30,000 more factory jobs. In my county at 6:00 am people are standing in line at the social services. I am talking thousands of people are waiting. It looks like something out of russian history.

Thanks! It was actually a fantastic interview....as Clinton explained just exactly how Wall Street got us all into this situation from the early part of this decade.

One thing the Clintons are superb at is revisionist history.

Unfortunately, the Clinton administration, which strong armed financial institutions such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into lowering their lending standards, and also laid the groundwork that created the subprime lending market, has a lot to answer for. Can I make a polite request people take their political posts that are totally NPR to the NPR Political board that has been created specifically for this purpose?

To be on-topic my understanding is that Pool's golden age in the USA was during the Great Depression, because the Pool Hall was often the one place in most town's that unemployed men could hang out at all day in relative comfort and safety. The same also applied to tournaments that would be round-robin formats that could go on for several weeks.

I agree the USA is the best. Too bad our big corporations and small company's don't think so.

Do you really think this is more important then Sarah Plain glasses or her hair style? I mean, riots and no gas actually affect the common person. Who would want to know about that?
I wonder if Mrs. Palin plays pool? There, pool related!

Lets examine the facts we have on Mrs. Palin. She lived in a town of 6,000 people that is also flooded with meth. I'll bet 10 to 1 she has played a game or two...if not, Ill bet 10,000 to 1 her husband has.
