He never played in his life?...this is almost the lock of the day.

No, I can't bet. It was a joke and I tried to present it that way. Sorry you misunderstood.

Your buddie Scott allready stole all my money, I have none left. You might ask him for it. He owes me like 25 thousand dollars still. The little guy is still yapping at my ankle too, kinda funny, but more sad than anything.

I hope you understand. I don't even gamble.

one other bit of info;

Your Congressman has aided & abetted the folks on Wall street for 79 years now, since the fall of Wall Street in 1929. Remember that when you go to the polls, vote your congress member out of office, thay have failed you.

Politicians are basically Thieving, lying bastards . . . we need to dump the two party system . . . it ain't working for the folks who have work!

Went to Grady's bank pool tourny tonight. 8 people. There were 8 people in the tournament. Josh Roberts, Scott Rabon, Brian White, Grady's jack off step son Mike, Kevin Brown, A guy named Shannon (not Daulton), and two other unknowns who I forget. Was really sad, I was kind of hoping to see a good turn out. Grady's is a pretty cool place, awesome tables. Could we blame the economy on such a bad showing? I guess I would. Gas prices still haven't come down, even two weeks after Ike has come and gone. Hope Grady has better turn outs in the future. Me personally, it won't keep me from going back just would like to watch some world class pool in any form without having to go out of town.

I know that the economy has really hurt pool in the last 6 months or so. Poolrooms have gone under or are barely hanging on. A big percentage of the top tour tournaments have had short fields. I say if the US Open turns out to have a short field it will be a disaster for pool and all major tournaments coming up in the near future. Lets all hope for 300 in the upcoming US Open. Johnnyt

I think Larry is a smart guy. If pool ever picks up, he can always jump back in.
I don't call this smart. It was a necessity for his welfare. It is a very dark picture we have of our sport. The companies that make the large money like the pool table companies do not put much back into our sport like they do in tennis and golf or even bowling. These sports had problems to deal with like John McEnroe, John Daley, I'm sure other names we will never know were "colorful" players in their sport, some even players that were in legal troubles. Our industry never tried to clean up our image, or maybe help the pool players that were on the wrong path. When I was playing professional pool back in the mid 80's there were drugs everywhere. It was like a joke, if you wanted to stay high all you had to do was play pool because nobody rep remanded anybody for anything. Everyone knew what was going on but nothing was being done. I don't know but a little help from the people in charge about dangers and a few fines or suspensions might have sent some kind of message to the professional players that this could cause major problems for them in the future. I can remember so many times that if a player was in a match and was obviously under the influence, it became a comedy show for everyone involved. I think it is a shame that we are looked at by corporate America like we are not worthy of recognition by the people. Our sport is failing. I wish I knew the answers
but I do not.

Thanks! It was actually a fantastic interview....as Clinton explained just exactly how Wall Street got us all into this situation from the early part of this decade.

Here is the link to Part 1 of the interview on YouTube...the links to the Parts 2 and 3 are available from this page:

Colin. Ihope we can still be friends! really

Don't you live in China? Cause that is the real issues facing the USA and pool are. American money is now buying Chinese goods instead of american goods. If there were jobs here then the people could have paid their bills and we wouldn't be in this mess right now. Don't stay over there and then act like some austrian site has a clue they have done so well in the last 100 years we should listen to them.

Hell you guys send us lead toys 80% of all toys imported from China had lead in them or on them I guess the guy that killed himself is the only one. lol Followed by atibiotics in our toothpaste you know that is cheap enough to be an accident. Followed by.... The fact that we deal with communist China is the root of the problem.

Using spellcheck i discovered that CHINA is spelled C-H-I-N-A.

Not A-U-S-T-R-A-L-I-A.

Besides, where someone lives doesn't always dictate what they read or think.

Yeah, but JohnnyT, if you mowed them all down and started over, it might be just like weeds.....the ones that replace them will become all corrupted again.....you just can't get rid of some of the worst aspects of human nature....

True. But most of the worst aspects are concentrated in the highest offices of our governemnt. Unacceptable!

I dont think they have ever had 300 players Johnny. One year there was 288 or close-the rest of the years between 200-256 . We can hope though.

Can I make a polite request people take their political posts that are totally NPR to the NPR Political board that has been created specifically for this purpose?

To be on-topic my understanding is that Pool's golden age in the USA was during the Great Depression, because the Pool Hall was often the one place in most town's that unemployed men could hang out at all day in relative comfort and safety. The same also applied to tournaments that would be round-robin formats that could go on for several weeks.

so I can expect the return of the golden age.wooohooo.

I haven't been in several years, but the most I remember was 186 on the 25th anniversary.

I guess my uncle was right, broke can happen at any time, and might be because of your principals.

Or lack of, I feel sorry for the people loosing jobs. However for those that had all of life's pleasures, you know, new cars, nice home, all the toys not to mention cell phones, cable TV, electronics etc. You made a big mistake by spending and not saving for a rainy day. Well guess what folks its starting to rain and its going to pour.

Some learn and some won't no surprise there. If I lost my job and it is possible no matter who you are. I will still be ok because I am prepared. Nothing is forever, count on it.

Pool, well sorry but pro pool players know their ain't no guarantees, no weekly salary, no health insurance, no 401k's etc. That's just the way it works and they knew it before pool was their only source of income. I hope they and all us working stiffs get through these tough times but it going to be rough until the economy turns around. Expect another year at least so save your money.

Can we say "fixed".
Sorry....Pool relation: Alexander's closed here a few months ago. There is nothing close by. I heard most rooms are slow. Sad but true. Hopefully we will pull out of this soon.

Not all bad seeds? From the minute someone gets elected to dogcatcher or city council they owe favors to all the people that pulled strings to get them there. The higher the office the more favors they owe. Even if they wanted to be honest, and they don't, they must vote in a way that will get them reelected or elected to a higher office by these same people. You have lawyers that are making $200,000 year or more running for an office that pays half that. Why, because he or she want to serve the people? BS, it's because they know they can make connections in office to get big jobs in the companies that they help while there in office. The system is broke and has been for a long time. Start by getting rid of ALL lobbyists, then let the people vote via Internet on ALL new laws for which way they want him/her to vote in Washington or at the state level.

If it was up to me I'd mo them all down and start all over. Johnnyt
