Recommended break cues?!?!

I have never had a very good break and I don't crush the rack like some players can. I'm looking for a good break cue or break/jumper to use in my efforts to become a better breaker. I know it comes down to individual preference obviously but I could use some suggestions. I'm also not looking to break the bank either with a cutom breaker. I'd prefer to spend in the $300 range for a breaker. Any suggestions... I also apologize if there has been a thread already dedicated to this topic.

Cheers,
Jim

I personally like varney's j/b

Just sold mine, but not because I didn't love how it broke. Jump section is a little longer and works fairly well on longer jumps. Much more accurate than my lucasi.

While I save some money for another varney probably going to get a j&j which is under a 100 and work nicely.

Send a PM to ChrisOnline. He can set you up well within your budget. I'll second the vote for the JnJ. Great price, hits a ton.

Ratcues

Try Ryan (Ratcues) at Muellers. This nifty little combo was $325. He certainly can build a toned down custom in your price range.

Pm Koinnkid for a great deal on a New Mike Gulyassy Break/Jump cue. You will LOVE it !!!

Mike's new Jump-Break cues are made in America and feature Patented Ferrule Tip Technology! These cues are guaranteed to NEVER DAMAGE YOUR cue ball. The new taper allows for more breaking speed than the competitors and is totally devastating.

I just picked one of these up, New Mike Gulyassy Break/Jump cue from Samsara, they really break the balls great and jump very good also, I put away my Jerico Stinger that I liked so much and am using this one now, I agree, pm koinkid for a sweet deal. good luck

Give a holler at Richard (AZ Name: X Breaker). His stuff is great, and his customer service is absolutely second to none, so you'll never have any issues there. Very powerful breaks and strong, accurate jumps go hand in hand with an X-breaker. I've tried a few different models before, and the new Samsara model is no exception to the rule. :)

I haven't had a chance to try the new Gulyassys, but I've heard good things from a couple different people. My Sledgehammer is very different from this newer model, though, so I can't say anything except that I like mine very much. Lol. :D

I prefer Gilberts, but my next choice would be a Mace by Rick Howard. There is one on ebay right now and very reasonable. BTW, I've had/have BKs and XBs and I still prefer the Gilbert. Try before you buy.

Jump/Break

There's a custom maker here in Indy..Dan Bonner, that makes a killer jump break..I hit with one of his one night and was just tearing it up!!!!

Also the J&J's that ChrlsOnline sells are sweeter than sweet!!!

Try a Wayne Robinson. Guaranteed to help your break and improve your jumping ability. You can have one custom made to your specs with your choice of wood and everything. All in your price range of $300 too. Send me a PM if you may be interested. You can view examples of his work in the thread "Wayne Robinson Custom Cues (NEW THREAD)" Trust me, You can't go wrong for the price. They are amazing.

Thanks,
Josh Hillard

i got a petree and an arnot. i sold my bk2 and kept my arnot and i like my petree even more than my arnot the last 2 i meantioned break great and really control the cb easily after the break

Get the j&j and learn how to break better with the phenolic tip. Then, when your crushing the rack, invest in a nice custom breaker like any of the one's mentioned above(Wayne Robinson, Varney, Gilbert, xb). You can always sell the used j&j to anyone in the pool hall for at least the amount you paid for it.

are we having fun yet :D

had a gilbert - sold it - it broke great but think i should have specified the butt width .. it was a bit uncomfortable for me ... my bad...

tried the original sledgehammer - didn't work for me.

tried the x-breaker - broke great - the sound irritated me to death ...

now on the BK2... cant find a reason to change... does what it's supposed to.. no complaints whatsoever...

good luck with your search...
