Sorry. I couldn't help it. Some jokes never get old.
You could dye it with aniline dyes or fabric dye (Rit). You may as well dye it purple, since after a few years of chalking it will be purple anyway. (red+blue)

It may not be so crazy. I think someone mentioned to me that "Whimpy" aka Luther Lassiter had a red ferrule, claiming it helped him as a visual aid. Never tried it myself, but it could start a trend don't you think. How about patriotic ferrules...fight terrorism etc. red white and blue with stripes...
any other ideas??lol

Too many spend too much time worrying about whether or not a ferrule material looks enough like ivory.
White ferrules and black bumpers. It's so bad that if you want a different color bumper it causes a new thread in the forums.
It's plastic and rubber....pick a color and go for it I say.

i ask mr lassiter about his red ferrule, in the late 60's - early 70's. i saw him at the old billiard palace, when it was up stairs. he told me the red ferrule against the white cue ball helped him see better.
i saw him play many times and if i could play as good, and be the gentleman he was i would use a polka dotted ferrule if need be.

Like Bob said, just use a 3-ball. Or any red Aramith ball, for that matter.
Bob made joint collar from a 2-ball for one of my cues and it looks fantastic.
