REFUND DEMANDED for Archer vs. Strickland match!

me: Hey mike stream is not working, its all black
mike: but its working for me
me: Mike stop playing around with the stream
mike: its from ustream end , not mine, so not my fault.

lol, this went on and on all night, in different writings, but same meaning... not to mention on the break time between the 8ball and 10ball there was 1 hour break, and the stream worked perfect at that time, without one single freeze, then right when the match started it goes off air... it just indicates that Mike is actually messing with it, he's doing something wrong, and if it was when he switched it to ppv, still its his mistake because on that 1 hour break, he should've put it on ppv and try fixing it at least.

Please post and repass or share it on facebook accordingly, a lot of people are upset and I would like to address some of these issues even before we have a "business" meeting about it.

Ustream Crew,

Actually this is blizzard of a shit storm to be frank with you guys. I understand that issues can occur but I have a slew and a ton of people who are demanding refunds and who are ravaging my name as a live stream producer. Raking and raping my name through the coals as we speak. I appreciate the compliments on my stream, show, quality especially coming from ustream itself that is an immense compliment. As you can see I REALLY know what I'm doing unfortunately it doesn't matter I might be the best in the country if people can't watch what they paid for essentially all that means absolutely NOTHING. Because they are not getting to see the match as they have been promised to watch.

I seriously would like Ustream to FORMALLY apologize to everyone who bought a PPV through an email sent to those customers. I would like a post by someone from Ustream to this forum. Below... I would like something reasonable sent to me that I can pass on to my viewers as well in a comprehensive explanation how the error with the PPV was solely on your back end. If you take a look at this thread you will understand how BAD this really is. I have people coming after me personally, financially etc when this technical outage and issue has nothing to do with my production and financially has nothing to do with me. Actually I've lost money on my end in hopes to delivering a superior product to everyone to boost my reputation

There is going to be a business meeting amongst the investor, the manager, myself and players and other persons involved on what we do with this. The very least I am to guess that they will request this PPV to be at no charge and then a similar event at a later date to be free as well. The amount of the first streams reputation on this franchise of challenge matches we have planned is severely damaged and majorly financially impacted future in ways we would of have no way of knowing at this point. Please take time to view this forum and collectively come to some conclusion at how you can help me let my viewers know how it can be justified or thoroughly explained so that *I* don't get the heat on my channel, my production or the other events we may produce.

Thank you for your serious consideration in this matter and remedy.

Holy crap, for once I am glad that I am in a place where I couldn't order the stream...oh wait a minute, no...im not happy that im here.

First let me start with I completely understand why people are upset, I would be too. But I wouldn't be upset that I missed part of the match. I am a very understanding person and we all know that there are huge challenges that come with this sport, streaming, and dealing with 3rd party businesses. The issue I would have, and it seems that most of you have is with the customer service being provided. At least I would hope that everyone isn't demonstrating such a lack of compassion and understanding that they are going to just about castrate a man for technical difficulties.

I feel after reading all of these responses that the issue is with the lack of "care" from the provider, in this case Mike TV et al. It is ashamed that he can not post here in an attempt to defend his actions, or apologize, or even confirm his reasoning for acting the way he is. Please keep in mind that I have no personal involvement in this situation, just basing off of what I have read.

All that I am asking is for everyone to please step back and try to look at the whole situation, figure out exactly what you are upset at. If you are legitimately upset about the crappy feed and that is it, have a little understanding for the technical difficulties and there are business workings with the provider that need to be ironed out.

I am in no way saying that you guys don't have a legitimate gripe/complaint. All I am asking is to show some understanding and give the situation some time to iron out. If your asking for a refund because the stream was crappy and the issue wasn't resolved, then go for it, I wish you the best of luck.

I hope that we can hear the other side of the story sometime.

Carl

On second thought, Customer Service is the Pinnicle of a successful business. Good Luck guys. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Speaking out is a great way to get the word out about a poor business experience. I hope it all works out in the end.

Carl

Welll...i guess we just heard the other side of the story...

As for my post, I wont edit it and leave it as is jsut to demonstrate and accenuate the patience and understanding part I mentioned.

Many of you thought Mike didn't care and was blowing it off...I believe that the previous post from Mike shows that he most definately does care and wants a resolution.

I hope that everyone involved can show patience and allow Mike to save his image, reputation, and business through working this out.

Carl

For me the big question is this: could the powers that be have cut their losses and just put it up for free going forward and had a watchable stream for everyone?

I keep hearing that it worked fine until they charged. If they would have played a watchable stream they wouldn't have owed any refunds IMO. Did they get greedy and try to keep it pay only in hopes of getting more paying customers?

If so they should have taken Jcin's lead from TAR. When Jcin couldn't get the new paying customers logged in he QUICKLY turned it to a free stream so everyone could watch day three of the epic Earl Vs SVB match.

I PM'D him on the chat and ask about a refund. He said no. The trouble was on Ustreams end and he had nothing to do with the money end of it. Other guys on the chat keep telling that the feed wasn't working and he kept saying it's working here. Like he didn't believe them. I'm filing with Paypal. As far as Mike I wouldn't pi$$ in his mouth if his guts was on fire.

It was also a nice touch when people complained they weren't getting the stream, his first question was "Did you pay?"

I was very close to buying a ticket yesterday and I hate the whole idea of PPV. Until I came to AZ and seen that there was problems.
Now I am wondering if the stream is going to work for today. If it does I may still buy a ticket. Im not sure if that is a good move though.lol

Mike: I'm usually on your side since I am from your area and watch your streams often. But I'm not sure on this,,if I had bought a ticket I would be upset also. But then,,I couldn't watch the match,,no one could,,paid or not paid, or should I say willing to pay.
Is this going to run smooth today???

This is where Mike messed up. For a short while he did switch to free streaming during the 8 ball match. A few whiners wanted to know why it was free when they paid for it but the majority of us saw the bigger picture which was "so what, we get to see what we paid for so we're happy". Had they continued to do that, the post count on this debacle would be half of what it is right now.

I was in full screen mode the few times the stream was working so I didn't see everything in chat but I specifically recall Mike saying at least 3 times "I can't" when asked to switch back over to free streaming. He didn't offer an explanation but we already knew that it could physically be done so we're left to believe that "can't" actually meant "won't". Since no explanation was given, we're left to assume that means that he's holding out to get more ticket sales.

At that point the bulk of the ticket sales were already made so ultimately those of us that paid had to suffer on the off chance that he might make a few extra bucks. The streaming issues might not have been his fault but his customer service issues were all his fault & that is why I will never buy one of his ppv matches again.

Risk

Since this is such an unreliable method of media who should assume the risk when is fails?

The persons buying the service or the persons putting it on?

If it is to be the purchasers of the service then a disclaimer should be written, "You may not get what you pay for".

It's wrong to leave your customers holding the bag. When this is done right and $100K is made on the stream match of a lifetime, whe won't be looking for royalties.

JCIN made the right move when he opened up the free stream and Mike needs to find a similiar solution. Perhaps the next event is free to buyers of yesterday's event and today well... open it up baby. There won't be too many buying today as it looks anyway.

I was looking through the ustream ppv FAQ here http://www.ustream.tv/ppv/supportcenter

They list an email adress for support: ppvsupport@ustream.tv

I think this a relatively new service for ustream so I wouldnt be surprised at some bugs. I am guessing they don't really get many takers at it since they keep 50% of all sales and hold the content providers money for 30-60 days after the event. Blew my mind when I saw that one.

Basically TV Mike can't refund your money. He doesnt have it. Ustream does. If you want a refund file a dispute with Paypal you will probably get it back.

I bought it at 7-7 in the 10 ball and it worked ok for me. Johnny pissing with a live mic on was worth the $25 all by itself.
The same thing happened with Max Elerbee on a Dragon Promotions straight pool tournament DVD I had. Friggin hilarious!! I wish I'd heard Johnny's.

dukers opinion about keeping your customers happy

I called him personally at the event and suggested that since he was recording it in high definition, his end was clear. I said when accu-stats had trouble at the Derby this year, they archived all of the matches that had ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL...they put a link up for the people that paid for the matches and gave you 10 days to watch it at your own convience. I tried very hard to explain this procedure and then the people would have got what they paid for to Mike and he just couldn't understand the idea. His response is I'm losing $ 15,000.00, I can't afford to do that. I tried to explain, this would show you good faith with your customers, still didn't get it. Between sets he turned on the free promo and the PPV went off the air and everyone that didn't pay, got to watch it for free on his site. he wouldn't address any complaints while the stream went down, more times then Linda Lovelace, then when the stream ran for a few minutes, he's saying, I don't know what you are complaining about, there's no problem here. Then he said later, he couldn't see the stream from there ????? He handled this very poor for me to be a repeat customer. Tar just had a small problem on the 3 rd and last day of the event and Jcin immediately offered FULL REFUNDS FOR ANYONE THAT WANTED THEM. He then had to put it on for free because too many people tried to get on the last day, but why should the people that paid complain, we got all of the match that we paid for, even if he had to show it in the free mode, and a bonus to all of the people that got to watch it for free. Tar and BigTruck are the top class of these events, and are ready to make things right...so is Accu-stats, I almost forgot them....Pat..Jim..and the rest of their staff. this is just my opinion, and I have never complained about any PPV stream even if they had problems. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over this, but Mike is gonna lose many repeat customers if he doesn't handle this right.

I have a cue business for 25 years and never had to advertise, other then business cards. I had a customer buy a cuetec, 2 years later, he came back to purchase a new shaft, his got a small crack on the shaft, Even after 2 years, I said I won't sell you a new shaft, but I will give you one for FREE. Even though I wasn't obligated to replace the shaft, I gave it to him for FREE, and this will bring you repeat customers, even if you have to suck it up and keep your customers happy.....and the best way to advertise is by word of mouth, that little gesture of replacing the shaft for free, brought him back as a repeating customer, it brought me more customers that I might not have had. I go out of my way to keep the paying customer happy, even if I have to bend a little bit. My cue shop is : Dukes-Q-Stop. Anyone that has ever done business with me can verify this...that is why I put my business name here to prove I'm not lying about the situations that sometime come up.....Ok here might be a way to save some of Mikes customers. I'm sure the whole match was recorded for future DVD Sales. He could offer a way out if this mess by: Sending all PPV customers that paid for this event, a complete DVD of each set of matches, 8 ball-10 ball-14.1 after this event is done, and all it would cost him, would be the cost of the DVD, and his time, and I think 99% of the people might restore faith in future events knowing that, as a paying customer, and knowing you will be taken care of fairly by the Promoter, and he will make it right with you, if there are any problems. Most times you have to spend money to make money and this small gesture might help Mike with future events, and restore some faith. In the meantime Mike should learn from this experience and maybe purchase a back up computer and equipment so he can protect himself of system failure, as we all know, things don't always go to plan. Also talk with other Great Promoter Streamers Selling PPV matches, and get their opinions and options to the way they use vendors for handling the PPV matches. I don't have to name them, We all know who they are, but with their input could be invaluable in Mikes future events. This is just my opinion on this situation. Post back and Let me know what you think of these options...duker509......Thanks for reading.....

Everyone here who purchased this dibacle needs to comment on this thread demanding a refund!

The way I see it, Mike from MikeTv needs to step up to the plate and quarterback this situation on getting us our money back.

I don't care how this gets resolved but it must ger resolved!
Mike wants to attach his name to this so along with any praise he may have gotten (if the stream went smoothly) he must also accept blame and responsibility.

If Mike is not willing to man-up (which is what I am hearing) then we all need to bombard paypal with our complaints and request for a refund.

Mike needs to do the legwork here going through whatever channels he needs to (Ustream, etc..) and refund his paying customers for this mess.

If he does not, I don't think MikeTv will ever be involved with a pool ppv match again. At worse, if a couple hudred people all file a complaint with paypal, Something will get done!

My blood is boiling and I need to go have a drink.
Please reply with your thoughts.

How can your "blood be boiling?" You might need some therapy if a stream makes your blood boil.

Thus I asked for refund from PayPal. When TAR had problems I thought Justin stepped up and I let it slide. Mike and I have no business history and thus no slack provided. Sorry Mike.

Nick

Thing is TAR's stream of the Earl vs Shane match also ran like a top from beginning to end. Jcin's issue was with too many people buying the event at one time and not getting access fast enough, so he just opened up the stream to everyone so that those buyers did not miss any pool. The product was phenomenal at every stage, there was never a blip on the stream and the production values were the nuts.

TAR is pro, it would seem the people who put on this show should have probably contacted the pro's (TAR) and paid them to come out and do the streaming right because TAR IMO has proven to be the most reliable streaming company for these high profile matches that get alot of PvP viewers. Plus one company who has proven they know how to get this stuff done right getting all of the contracts will make a more profitable company that can afford to keep improving their product with higher end equippment and even more experience. This sport does not need alot of streamers, it needs one company doing it that really knows their stuff, and that is TAR.

he is still convinced in his mind that he has nothing to do with it, when you ask mike "if I buy your stream, will it be running smooth?" Basicaly he can't answer that, because he's only in charge of selling it, but thats all, whatever problem that might happen, he'd say its not from his end, either ustream, or flash bug, or whatever. he can't understand that even though it might be true that ustream are in false, but it still is your problem since your responsible of selling out that product, ergo you have to deliver, or you will be the guy who will get the blame, Study whatever you want to sell, to make good product and then a good name, right now you are going toward the wrong path.

BTW- did you see post #45 above where Justin advises Ustream gets a 50% cut!!

2-3% hahahaha.

Where is Cantrill?

Tv mike was unbanned temporarily to facilitate better customer service during the stream. Anyone else see the irony here?

Cantrill is probably trying to kill him as we speak.

When I first read about this epic match up it appeared the events promoter was Mark Cantrill. If this is accurate he hired TV Mike to oversee the video and streaming of the event. Mike apparently chose USTREAM as the vehicle
to collect the money and broadcast the event. Where is the communication
from Mark Cantrill about what is going on? I remember reading a number of posts from Mark on these forums about the event including online posters etc. promoting & pimping the event, ticket prices and streaming fees etc. Why hasn't the event promoter issued a statement? I saw on another thread CaliRed said Mark was traveling without a laptop. Does he travel without a phone also? Can't he post something here about what is going on?

My apologies in advance if Mark has done so and I missed it or if he in fact is not the promoter, the EL Jefe so to speak. I was looking forward to this event and planned to purchase it as I did the recent TAR event. In fact I tried to Fri night but couldn't find the proper link and posted that on another thread. I saw all the issues folks had Sat. morning so I held off and now I am glad I did. Not because they had tech issues, that can and does happen. But because they apparently had no plan B if tech issues reared up and the promoter(s) have failed to communicate with the customers and fans. Its too bad because it most likely would have been great entertainment. I won't buy the DVD but maybe some day I can watch it on the tube.

If you're referring to the post about the slight revision change, I never said he was traveling without a laptop. I have no knowledge if he is or isn't. But please be careful when writing that someone said this or that, if you're not sure, or at least go back and verify the thread to make sure what you think they said and what they said is accurate:)

Slight revision of format for "Bad Blood Match - 04-01-2011, 05:28 PM
Mark Cantrill asked me to post a slight revision to the rules for the Strickland/Archer match.

There is a thread from Mark that was posted at 11:30 and your post is at 11:49, so either you took 19 mins to compose your post or you didn't see it:D
