REFUND DEMANDED for Archer vs. Strickland match!

Thing that stinks is, isn't TVMike banned from AZB right now so he can't say what happened nor you can't PM him either???

Tv mike was unbanned temporarily to facilitate better customer service during the stream. Anyone else see the irony here?

Cantrill is probably trying to kill him as we speak.

Doesn't it start all over again tomorrow?

At a discount? Maybe $24.95?

They had some trouble with the stream at the first during the eight-ball but they got it straightened out and the ten-ball went well.

Actually the stream during the 10-ball event cut out several times. I got to see very little of the 8-ball event.

I was looking through the ustream ppv FAQ here http://www.ustream.tv/ppv/supportcenter

They list an email adress for support: ppvsupport@ustream.tv

I think this a relatively new service for ustream so I wouldnt be surprised at some bugs. I am guessing they don't really get many takers at it since they keep 50% of all sales and hold the content providers money for 30-60 days after the event. Blew my mind when I saw that one.

Basically TV Mike can't refund your money. He doesnt have it. Ustream does. If you want a refund file a dispute with Paypal you will probably get it back.

I bought it at 7-7 in the 10 ball and it worked ok for me. Johnny pissing with a live mic on was worth the $25 all by itself.

Ustream

I tried to watch 2 or 3 other Pool streamed shows today and all of them had problems it seemed, although they were not PPV.

highrun55

but a refund or something is still due

i personally called him between sets

With all respect I think the legaleze is besides the point. It is quite obvious that viewers were paying to actually see the entire stream.

Having said that, didn't this just start today? I mean give the guy a chance to make it right. For all you know he's been at the venue all day busting hump trying to make it work. I doubt he's sitting on a beach in the Caymans laughing at all the suckers.

I do agree though that anyone who wishes a refund is entitled to it.

I called him personally at the event and suggested that since he was recording it in high definition, his end was clear. I said when accu-stats had trouble at the Derby this year, they archived all of the matches that had ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL...they put a link up for the people that paid for the matches and gave you 10 days to watch it at your own convience. I tried very hard to explain this procedure and then the people would have got what they paid for to Mike and he just couldn't understand the idea. His response is I'm losing $ 15,000.00, I can't afford to do that. I tried to explain, this would show you good faith with your customers, still didn't get it. Between sets he turned on the free promo and the PPV went off the air and everyone that didn't pay, got to watch it for free on his site. he wouldn't address any complaints while the stream went down, more times then Linda Lovelace, then when the stream ran for a few minutes, he's saying, I don't know what you are complaining about, there's no problem here. Then he said later, he couldn't see the stream from there ????? He handled this very poor for me to be a repeat customer. Tar just had a small problem on the 3 rd and last day of the event and Jcin immediately offered FULL REFUNDS FOR ANYONE THAT WANTED THEM. He then had to put it on for free because too many people tried to get on the last day, but why should the people that paid complain, we got all of the match that we paid for, even if he had to show it in the free mode, and a bonus to all of the people that got to watch it for free. Tar and BigTruck are the top class of these events, and are ready to make things right...so is Accu-stats, I almost forgot them....Pat..Jim..and the rest of their staff. this is just my opinion, and I have never complained about any PPV stream even if they had problems. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over this, but Mike is gonna lose many repeat customers if he doesn't handle this right.

did he ever day he doesnt care, he's up to his neck with problems, look at what jcin said he doesnt have anyone's money

It doesn't matter if he has any of the money or not, the ticket was purchased on his site, and when I just opened my dispute with paypal they were not interested in Ustream only the site where the ticket was purchased.

Paypal, is going after www.miketv.com according to the email I just received from them.

did he ever day he doesnt care, he's up to his neck with problems, look at what jcin said he doesnt have anyone's money

no he never said he didn't care. But when i ask about a refund after only being able to see 3 game out of the first 25 he just kept telling me and everyone that was having trouble it's working here. Like we were lying about it.

If I had seen even 60% of the games I would have eaten the $25.00. I think I saw 4 games total of the 8 ball and gave up. Checked back later in the middle of the 10 ball and it stuck out of the box.

Thus I asked for refund from PayPal. When TAR had problems I thought Justin stepped up and I let it slide. Mike and I have no business history and thus no slack provided. Sorry Mike.

Since I'm a curious type of fellow, when I found out ustream was going to be used for the PPV a few days ago, I too, went on a search to find out more about it. The 3 things that you mentioned were the same three that stuck out to me. I was thinking, so that's why Justin doesn't use them, but then I found out it was a fairly new feature and that ruled out that conclusion:D

It's kind of baffling how technology has came so far, and the big rage over the past 3 or 4 years, has been focusing on On Demand streaming of large files (movies and such), but yet this live streaming is a whole different animal. We have the ability to stream recorded 0's and 1's pretty well, but this live on the fly streaming is proving to be a little harder to be a success.

its a shame all the way around i guess, mike is a good guy, ive known him for a few years now. im actually shocked by the manner this is being handled by EVERYONE involved. Im hopefull this will be handled in a way that suits everyones interest.

This is such a dark day for pool streaming. I truly hope people get their refunds. I plan on being a streamer when I retire and I think this hurts streamers all over.

I know if I was going to charge and was hoping to cover all my expenses I would know that it was a huge risk going in since I may have to give refunds due to technical difficulties.

I just filed with Paypal for a refund. This is a first for me. I'm a easy going guy and may have let this slide if Mike would have a little more caring about the whole thing and been willing to work with a guy. Instead of blaming it all on Ustream. After all we had to go thu his web site to pay for the stream.

Very eloquently stated. I agree 100% with everthing you said.
The bottom line is how this was ultimately handled or mis-handled.
Moving on it will be TAR or ACCUSTATS which I will be more than willing to pay my hard earned many to and support.

People don't want to believe it, but sometimes it really is just the provider's fault. I had no problems with any tar matches but for example in tar 20 I must have seen about 30 people say they couldn't log in. It clearly had nothing to do with TAR.

But JCIN did the honorable thing, put it up for free elsewhere, and offered refunds to anyone who wanted them. Sometimes you pay or refund even when it's not your fault. Businessmen deal with the concept all the time. A fast food restaurant will often replace your meal even if you're the dumbass who dropped it on the floor. A company ships something to you, and the guy at UPS was high and banged the box around... now the product is dented. The company apologizes and sends you a new one at their own expense.

That's not just being a 'nice guy', it's also self-serving and driven by profit. The small amount of money you lost is nothing compared to how much you'll lose if you tell the customers "tough titties" and refuse to give a refund. It may not be your fault, but it's not theirs either. You're the guy who was supposed to have the expertise and resources to give them the product. TAR had a plan B, mike should have too.
