Oooh the irony! Sorry couldn't really resist those sitting ducks:)

Attractive cues, nice work......any endorsements or comments from the purchasers as regards how they performed?

Eddie has been doing this for a long time. I have had the pleasure of watching his talent develop over the years. I also am lucky enough to live within 20 minutes of his shop so I can have adjustment to the way it plays done instantly. His cues play well, he can adjust the taper or weight or tip to make you happy.

I haven't seen many cues with quilted maple and I bet it glows under the table light.

IT glows alright. It looks like it is electric. Unfortunatly, going through divorce and cancer treatments and the poor cue hs been in the case for the last 2 months.

Can't ask for better than that. Thanks.

Oh yea, that quilted maple cue is UNREAL! Is that the only one you've done with that wood? I'd like to see more of your cues. I think you do great work.

after rereading only part of it.

I actually went in and edited it from able to unable after rereading only the last part of the sentence. I had done it correctly and then changed it to the double negative during editing because I wasn't playing close enough attention....:D :D :o

To All AZ'rs : Clarification of my marketing Rumors !!!

It has come to my attention that quite a few of you get the impression that I create "friction" with my posts just to get into the spotlight, to sell my cues... I can assure all of you that I do NOT need to get attention that way...

Which is also why I posted this thread, so YOU can see that I DO know what I am talking about, I have been doing this for 18+ yrs. so I have made my mistakes a long long time ago... remember, there are many ways to build and repair cues... but the end result is all that matters !

I offer suggestions and advice to those who seek it, and everything I offer is from 100% successful experience or knowlege from "creditable" fellow cuemakers, and of course I learn many useful tips from you guys as well !

I get alot of unneccessary friction due to my detailed drawn-out explainations I feel the one asking the question deserves... however, I get so into the explaination that I get a little loose with some of the formalities such as : I, WE, ALL OF US, etc.... and apparently open up a door for the AZ forum police to beat me down like Rodney King...So from now on, I will be opening up all of my statements with "IN MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION" , I feel this will put an end to the critiquer's of my helpful intentions.

As you can see my work speaks for itself... there isn't anything fancy about my cues, I offer very nice grades of exotic hardwoods for my customers and they are attractive "tools". and more importantly, they play EXACTLY how the customers wants them to, and that IS the avenue I am marketing myself on...

There are fellow cuemakers who do NOT approve of me selling my cues at these prices and it causes alot of heat and discomfort to me, but because I do NOT have the huge overhead that some of these notorious cuemakers have, I AM able to build you a very nice "tool" for a practical and extremely affordable price !

I want to think EVERYONE who has taken the time to view my work, ask questions, given advice and most of all the ones who were interested in my concept and are NOW my customers....

Thanks Again Everyone !

Sincerely, Eddie Wheat 321-631-1827

By the way... here's a couple of pics to show you one of many nice selections of exotic hardwood cues that are available for 350.00 !!!

Just to be clear, I have no personal issues with Eddie. I think that he undervalues his cues but that is his business. Since he and I exchanged many posts in this thread and he mentioned no names in this last one I wanted to clarify that I had no bones to pick with Eddie other than what realistic pricing is for the average cue maker and we thrashed that out and came to understand each other.

Introducing New Custom Wrap Designs !!!

Just thought I would share this with my fellow AZ'rs.... I would like your opinion and feedback on these type of specialty wraps.... basically the designs are colors are unlimited.....

I sent out these two handles to be wrapped and now I'm attaching them to thier respective forearms and finishing them up... the process is impressive and is time consuming but the man who does this, professionally builds fishing poles and does custom wraps out of Maine....

I was fortunate enough to be able to talk with him about this application due to a mutual friends interest in doing something unique as far as a wrap was concerened and this was the first time he ever applied his technique to a billiard cue and was quite pleased... the wraps will be sealed to prevent damage and discoloration....

So I will be offering custom wraps like these for those who are interested... once again, the colors and designs are pretty limitless, and it does take a some time becasue each strand is hand turned not machine and some are 6-7 levels deep.... His work is very impressive !

Let me know what you think !

That's pretty neat !!!

I wasn't aware that brunswick used the same thread that Lou uses on his fishing pole wraps....

It's definitley different and not for everyone !

Regarding the quilted maple cue

Thanks for the compliments regarding the quilted maple cues !!!

By the way... "poolhall maven" I'm currently building your son Kevin a B/J cue with a quilted maple forearm... he's pretty excited about the quality of the woods !

Regarding Jessi Barne's cues... I'm really glad to see her game jumped with my custom cue formula... it shows that it works on a pro-level too !

We also discussed going back and do some inlay work on her playing cue in the near future, just to jazz it up !!!

If you make it down this way; give me a shout and we can go play a round of golf somewhere.

Is Quilted Maple Broadleaf maple?

I once purchased a stock 2x2 of some Quilted maple that was as vivid as the one you have in your cue. When I took it to another cuemaker in Florida, he told me it was a waste because it was Broadleaf maple and would be too soft for a playing cue. This cue maker is well respected in his domain and had made copies of very fancy Szambotis for a couple Szamobti owners I know that are long time professional players who say he knows wht he is talking about. I was very disheartened because I was excited and ready to pay to have the cue made to my specs with that beautiful wood, but he completely put it down and did not want to work with it saying I would not be happy with the hit and he did not want to make a cue that wasn't made out of a true hardwood.

================

From another board that discusses soft vs hard maple:
source: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=37186

one Poster :
Yeah they're different species, but as Chris said they all fit into the Acer family. My understanding is that most hard or rock maple is from the Sugar Maple (A. saccharum), but other eastern hard varieties can fall into that loose catagory. Out where I live soft maple is almost always Western Bigleaf Maple (A. macrophyllum). On the East coast I'm not sure what they market as soft maple.

second Poster:
As far as figure goes, out here the big leaf variety (A. Macrophyllum) is where you get most "quilted" maple. "Birds eye" and "fiddleback" are mostly out of sugar (hard) maple. I believe that while most people call maple either hard or soft there is quite a difference in hardness between eastern soft maples and big leaf maple.
==============

Is this why you don't see a lot of quilted maple cues out there, or was he totally full of it??

BTW, you do nice work and those wraps are very cool.
