Rhea vs OMGWTF

guess she's ignoring me

too bad, try to learn, etc.....

I still support her rights, equality and shemale rights

Smash mouth are you trying to say that possibly she he is a transgender?

" she " is a very lose term nowadays. If you are speaking of a specific person whom I'm guessing you are then you are 100% correct - hse is in fact a transgender type. But you already knew that right and just stirring the old pot of genetics?- Not that there's anything wrong with that lol....
.

I was on the road for nearly 9 months, between sep 6th 2013 to May 30th 2014. I was on the road with 5 people at different times as well as solo between all 5 for differing lengths.

To me it doesnt matter that Rhea is transgender, it wasnt her choice that her brain was born into a male body so I wouldnt bring that fact to the table again and again as some people here tend to do, I am just happy for her that she is now satisfied with her present identity. On the other hand I am basically shocked that Rhea has survived on the road for whole 9 months with such low quality of her game (not speaking about the match itself but about her fundamentals). Either she had quite substantional savings prior to that road trip or she became extremely street-wise/great match-maker (Gene Albrecht influenced Rhea I guess) or the road is not as tough as I though it is. Anyway Rhea had courage (and naivity as well) to go out and try herself and thats more than 95% of people here can say about themselves. This says a lot about Rhea as a human being.
Rhea - find a good instructor (not a good player, good INSTRUCTOR) and work for 6 months exclusively on your fundamentals without playing any tournaments, money matches or friendly games. Do this and your games will jump up several levels. And then you may try the road again if you wish to, you may actually more than survive then. ;)

Well said marek. I also think geno did the best he could.
It takes discipline to match up correctly and work on your game the right way. It seems rhea couldnt follow the rules.

She did well to get third. And handles the flax around here as good as anyone. Kudos to her.

Well as for Rhea getting the third place I guess it says more about her opponents than about her own game to be honest. And with her level of play it had to be really tough to match up the way she would end up in black numbers on the road  But as I said - she had the courage to go for it so yeah, kudos to her ;)

To me it doesnt matter that Rhea is transgender
To me, ultimately, it doesn't matter either. I am a nobody in the pool world and the real world but I do think it is great and admirable that she is brave enough and also able to be the person she wants to be...

However...

If a sport/activity/hobby has a Women's division then doesn't that mean that the activity would have a sex based handicap, whether it be a positive or a negative for a woman? If women are able to compete evenly in any activity that there are women's only events, then why bother having women's only events at all?

Would it make it 100 percent fair for transgender people to compete in the activity as the opposite of how they were born specifically if the gender they now identify as is traditionally the underdog?

Personally, I don't care either way as I will never be good enough to compete at a level where this matters. These do seem to be questions for the ages that will never truly be answered I think.

Edit to add. Congrats to Mel on snapping this event off!!!!

Here in the Western BCA the idea of going genderless and playing strictly on Fargorate is being tossed around and will be voted on this month.

I can't think of a legitimate 550 fargo dude that Rhea will ever defeat with play like that video.

Maybe this will be a good thing if we do it? That remains to be seen.

The only opposition seems to be from the Bluehairs who are wise enough to know that once that happens you won't see many if any women on the podium again in any division.

Also get rid of the "$50 entry fee, $40 for women" thing if there is any. Just because you are a woman, or someone under 18 does not mean you are automatically special. Base it on skill level. Otherwise every tournament that offers a discount to women just because, is actually promoting sexism.

I agree .... 99% couldn't last one state over or 1 week ! I do flooring during the week and 1 weekend a month I'll drive or fly to a big tournament somewhere and play strangers and it's TOUGH but fun !!! Try it sometime or PM me I'll come to you .....Im your Huckleberry ....Hang in there and do whatever makes you happy Rhea !

Congrats to both players. I have been friends with Melinda for years and know how hard she works, as well as how serious she is about her game. I have rarely seen another person rival her work ethic.

Well I didn't watch it all, but I watched a big part of it. It's nice to see you both play, after reading your posts for years. I actually enjoy watching amateurs more than pros. IDK why, but I actually got really into it. I shouted at the screen.... I'll finish watching the rest tomorrow.

I'm not going to give you suggestions or pointers on your game because you didn't ask for them, and I know there are plenty more qualified than myself to do so that probably will.

Nice post.

I feel both players acquitted themselves well.

I also believe most out there haven't experienced being put on camera with commentary, in the knowledge that their performance will be shipped into cyberspace in perpetuity for present and future generations to watch and kibitz. On the TV table all the shots you would normally fly in abandon you. Simple position plays go from getting on the next shot to getting on the right half of the table.

Pool is wicked tough and what that link shows is what two amateur players look like. We all get so spoiled watching pros that we expect to see runs and every shot whiz in. That's not the way it is in real life and if you are a nonbeliever all you have to do is wander on down to your local pool room and take a gander.

I would also have to say that as much as we all, as men, revel in our neanderthalness, in today's day and age we should all be able to accept transgender folks without making it a big deal or referring to a "condition." And if we accept that, then we should be courteous enough to not take a shot at a woman's weight.

Lou Figueroa
and that's all
I have to say
about that

Didn`t you go on the road with a pro a few years ago Rhea?
I`m no expert, but there are some obvious flaws in your fundamentals.
The shot at 1:02 is a good example. Hand, stance, grip (although we can`t see it, it`s clear you are holding the cue hard and at the wrong place) the stroke in itself isn't smooth at all, you don`t stand still and you get up before the shot is over.
Do you ever play straight pool?

At 1:02 the balls have just been racked for the first game. was the 1:02 a typo? I was curious to see the shot.

I think there are certain, ahem, qualities that make all women special compared to men. I think what you are describing here promotes the idea that pool is mostly guys, and guys like girls, and many feel it would be cool if there were more of them around. That's how I see it.

i was recently corrected and reminded that the term I used is not considered politically correct

who knew, lol

Well this might be harsh but life if harsh ,, it's not the ability of the brain that separates men and woman in sports is thier physical ability and that's where men have a distinct advantage,,
Only one person is affected by the choice of making them play as their birth gender while many can be affected the other way around
