i think these designs are for show only. i don't expect to see anyone "playing" with them. there comes a point when design is for design's sake and is not necessarily related to the form with which it follows.
so when i parnethesized "playing", what i meant was that these designs have little to do with cues.they can be used anywhere,,,tapestry, doilies, textiles, silverware. to me, that means they become something more like affectations.
these curly que, fleur de lis styles bother me because they're just fancy emblems stuck on the butt of a cue. they are disparate from the integrity of the cue. contrast these with a mcworter or that fancy gina that mottey copied.....those two get fancy , but the designs has evolved from your basic cue. they integrate with the cue and pay homage to them.
these curly designs are like stickers that were pasted onto a cue butt, the genesis of them being "well, all i have to do to make a fancy cue is put something fancy on the butt"
it is the price cuemaking has payed with advanced cnc/computers....like movies' overdependence on cgi instead of storyline.

the cue show was wondering how he did it? and he would not even tell me, so dont ask.he is a true artist and his design are his own!he has set the bar very high ! and he keeps comming up with things that are new and fresh!
jim, I do not have one of the sidded veneer.and in my opinnion. what makes a cue maker is (consistancy in hit) and ricks cues all play consistant! because rick will not let one out of his shop unless it played great! and every once in a while there is that cue that just plays JAM UP, over and above a great playing cue!! and this is one of them! when i was talking to rick about choosing a cue for my site even rick said that this cue plays incredable! and the gentleman, collector, strong player luan ngyun call me todayJimBo said:I also love that design, and if you ask Bill and he has one for sale I'm sure he'll tell you they hit a ton, O wait they hit Jam Up!
