Rick Howard cues

Just wanted to start a thread on Rick's cues. He doesn't get the exposure he deserves for his quality craftsmanship and outstanding playability.

One of the very best hitting cues I have ever tried was George Breedlove's RH cue. The same cue he used on the first ever live US Open match shown on ESPN. George against Hopkins. He sold the cue to a local shooter.
Alex the owner of Stix bought it and sold it since for a good amount.

Not to mention that Rick is a great guy to deal with, and I am talking from experience. I have bought and resold a number of Ricks Mace Jump Break Cues through my pool hall over the last Three Years. My customers love them, and all I can say is buy one or get beat by one!!!!!;) This is not a statement that I make lightly!!!!

These are great cues made by a great guy!!!!!!

When I had a Howard, I was very happy with it. It was a fantastic cue. Nice workmanship, great woods, a Southwest style cue for 1/2-1/3 of the price.

Unfortunately for me, some piece of garbage broke into my car and stole my Howard and also my Mace. Granted, I have recently found my replacement, for now anyways, and it's a fine replacement (Josey sneaky). But really, all I want is my Howard back.

It's too bad more people don't know about these fantastic hitting (and beautiful) cues.

I have only had 5 RH's so far (1 being a Mace) but compared to other big name cue makers that cost alot more $$$, Rick's cues consistently play just as good if not better and they are quality made.

I still miss the one that was made for Josh Hilliard.(nine ball)
That cue played unbelievably good! I had to go and bend the pin.

I had to go and bend the pin. That would be an easy fix, you should have kept the cue.

Yeah, i realize that now, but I was scared I did damage to the wood inside... Outside and around the joint looked fine, but you know how wood can hide it's little imperfections

Rick sold me his personal MACE, directly from his case when I was stationed at Hurlburt Field, back in 1998. I told him I needed a cue(we were just chatting, I wasn't soliciting him). He saw that I was renting one of the cues when I played (they were a bit better than the average house cue). Anyhow, he pulled out his MACE (which other players around there used to play with as well) and gave me a ridiculous price that I couldn't pass up.

Mr. Howard is a really nice guy. I remember he invited me out just to hang one day at his shop. He had a huge Rottweiler (that was actually pretty friendly if Rick was there) chained up outside of it. Rick also always drove this cool older BMW convertible that I thought was the nuts. Rick is just a super nice guy.

Anyhow, I played with my MACE for years. I actually got some friend's in Nashville in touch with him to buy some break/jump cues when I was home on leave one time showing mine off.

After years of using mine, a friend in D.C. loved it and offered me about 4 times what I paid for it one day, so I knew he would appreciate it and sold out. I need to get me another MACE and one of Rick's custom cues now that I'm thinking about it.

Great cuemaker, pool-player, and person.

I have been waiting for a while for a great cue by Rick. I cannot wait to get it, as it will be awesome. Stay tuned for pics and specs when it arrives. I have never owned one of his customs, but I bought it on his reputation.

Just got my first Rick Howard, and I must say I am absolutely pleased. The cue plays perfectly. I love the hit and feel of the joint.

Agreed. I've shot with this cue and love it. Has a very nice hit to it and was well worth the money you paid for it IMO.

Hmmm where have I seen that before??!!!!

Seems I've heard something like that before too...I believe its very similar to another cuemakers slogan.;)
As for Rick Howard...he's a fine gentleman to deal with and his cues very nice indeed.
