RIP Mike Surber -- November 10, One Year Since He Was Murdered

It has been one year since the tragic murder of "Biloxi Mike" Surber.

It is often said in legal circles that the wheels of justice turn slowly, and that holds true in this case; however, the wheels are still turning. There are some brand-new developments which will be revealed within the coming weeks that are going to be very eye-opening, to say the least.

Though it is frustating that an entire year has gone by, law enforcement is, in fact, still working diligently and following every lead.

If you are a person of faith or have a higher power, please take a moment today and say a prayer for Mike Surber, that justice will be served.

RIP, Biloxi Mike. You may be gone but are not forgotten.

I hope the caring Spirit within those law enforcement folks will be guiding their thoughts and actions towards bringing justice to this affair.

Only one year. It feels like it's been forever and the rat who did this is still running free. I get pretty emotional when I see my buddy Mike's picture. He damn sure didn't deserve anything like this. If I ever see the creep who did this, the police can come and get the pieces. I'm sorry but that's how I feel.

That was thoughtful of you Jen to post this on the anniversary of this tragedy. I don't know where you have the inside line on "developments" but you make it sound very promising. My fingers are crossed some justice can be had for this fallen gentleman.

I heard there were better pictures that were going to come out. If anyone has them will they post them in this thread? He can't run forever.

Thank you JAM for the reminder. He will always be in our hearts & will pray for his peace.

Don't forget; there is no statute of limitations on murder. The case might go cold, but will ALWAYS be open. I hope they get the guy who did this.

yes mike was a nice guy.
sad story.
and mike could play some banks and 1 pocket.

I agree... It's kind of story you would only hear about on crime TV shows... The pain surges deep knowing it happened to someone who we all know and encountered AND unsolved!

I was shocked when I first saw Mike's picture post as the victim. Cause I've seen him in tourneys all over, especially at Derby...

He was always polite and greeted everyone with a very pleasant smile. I hope him knowing how much people respect, remember and loved him in our pool community will relay some peace to his soul...:frown:

ps. Thanks again to JAM for the thread. I know you're hearts genuine and your reps in back order, LOL. Apparently, I don't spread enough:grin:

I wish they would do some sketches of possible identity changes for this "person of interest".

Mike is in my prayers.

Thanks Jenny!!

Truly, some new information has come to the fore. There are some new developments, which give me hope that law enforcement has a trail to follow now and it's only a matter of time.

As soon as law enforcement discloses fully the new information, I will share it here. I would not want to do anything to interefere, though, with an ongoing investigation.

As an aside, I always thought cops were odd in how they go about things, but I need to remember that I'm looking at it from the outside. There are some things that may be on a need-to-know basis, and, of course, that excludes the public.

It is hard to be patient in matters like this when a man lost his life trying to do a good deed for another. In this case, the recipient of Mike's goodwill managed to get him alone and proceeded to murder him for personal gain. It's tragic, sad, and hard to understand people sometimes, how they can do this to their fellow man.

Hard to believe it's been a year already !

Mike is missed & it's frustrating as hell that this guy still hasn't been caught...Hopefully they are close to getting him...Would be great to know someone inside the same prison he will be in to be put money in their account to make sure his stay is a memorable one !!!!

Eezbank, there is a tech working on a 10 minute clip gleaned from an hour of surveillance video. Law enforcement finally gave the nod to putting it online and on YouTube, whenever it gets completed.

When it's finished, we'll see that it gets put everywhere. Keep in mind, though, that the surveillance video is only --I think-- 10 frames per second, so it's not going to be real smooth motion. It also may be possible to clean up the images by means of a video enhancement program. Hopefully that will be done as well.

As JAM mentioned, there are some other methods which have been suggested that may help in the suspect's apprehension. All the websites will be notified just as soon as there's something to show.
