Ripped off by a guy named Rocinante on the forum (please read)

My message that I sent to ADMIN:I bought or tried to buy a Tim Scruggs Sneaky Pete from user Rocinante for a decent amount during mid-late June. I sent a personal check to him and he received it and said would let me know when it clears. Couple of weeks later when I know the check cleared he said it didn't clear. A week after that he said it cleared and the cue will be on it's way and he will be on vacation. I paid 27 dollars for UPS shipping and I got no tracking number from him. I sent him a message everyday because of the decent sum of money involved and when I told him I'm going to call the Better Business Bureau he finally responded after 3 weeks of everyday messages (while I was on vacation) he said he sent the cue but I still did not receive a shipping number. If you want to verify all this it is all in my messages history. I have about 40 totally messages. I just want a tracking number for the cue. Could you help me contact the user through email? I've done some business on this forum but it has never taken over a
month to get a cue to Hawaii. Thanks!

My final note to Rocinante: If you do not respond to me within the next two days because I know you have been online I am going to notify the administrators of this forum as well as the better business bureau or another organization to handle your bad business. It has been over 1 month where we made a legal contract on the forum that I would pay you 375 bucks plus shipping for a used straight Tim Scruggs Sneaky Pete. It has been over 2 weeks where the check cleared (I have the information in my bank statement) and I have yet to hear from you since 2 weeks ago. I came to you for an item and I did not receive it so respond to me soon. Thanks.

Oh and I even got my check back that he cashed. It has his bank stamped in the back.

1. The thing I find most amusing/pissed off about is how he claims he sent the cue but who sends a cue worth 400 dollars and not have a tracking number? I mean isnt 400 dollars suppose to be a lot of money? He sent it. What did he send it as UPS 50 day air? Bushwhacker shipped a cue to me for 20 bucks shipping it came in 1 day. I paid 27 bucks for shipping to Hawaii. Anyways I am going to the cops about this one and get the guy busted.

2. How can someone just disappear after receiving the money and claim they dont check the board anymore? The funny thing is after a week I was watching his profile and it said he was online that day. I did this for more then 3 days and he was online all three days. If a transaction is made shouldnt one stay until the person confirms it is received? Why else would they have a feedback system on ebay?

3. I notified ADMIN right and admin talked to him. Still no tracking number. He in fact gave a rude note not to bother him anymore cuz I was selling the cue to someone else already. Well I am selling a Scruggs I have and own from an honest seller on ebay from UCLA (Got his phone number if you wanna verify).

4. I am writing this to get some input. I am a very honest guy probably too honest ask stix4sale bushwhacker or Jazz. In fact I even gave Jazz a discount on the shipping when I sold him my Steven Klein cue that I bought earlier on ebay for the same price (didnt like the stiff hit). He sent me an amount I actually sent him half his shipping money on ebay (paypal). I just want my cue or my money back. I dunno what this guy is trying to pull. I dunno why there are so much scum guys on this earth. Now I thank you all for reading this. If anyone can help please do help. No one likes being ripped off.

I can say that I did overpay this guy on Paypal ... didn't worry about the amount since it wasn't that much and I figured this guy for a fellow cue buff and perhaps a student (???). Did not request and di not expect the money back, but he did refund my PayPal account on his accord.

My experience with this gentleman is very positive.
 
Pardon me for say IF YOUR STORY is TRUE.

Forget the BBB, as they are a BULLS**T Organization with little power to do anything.

The U.S. Postal Service has Postal Inspectors who are Law Enforcement Officer, (with Guns & HandCuffs) as you apparently sent your $$ in the Mail they have Jurisdiction on your Problem.

Also I would try and find out who or what LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY has JURISDICTION where the Seller Receives his or her mail.

Call that agency (City Police or Sheriff’s Dept) and ask them for help with your case.

Good luck in getting your $’s back or the Cue you apparently paid for.
 
Its members like him that scare me when selling/buying cues through here. There are some trustworthy members on here but sometimes one bad apple can spoil the bunch. It really just sucks for the good guys.
 
Hope you catch that scum bag.. Ive got ripped of like that before.. $1100 worth.. Cops cant do nothing, US Postal Inspectors did nothing and the State Attorney did nothing... But my case is alittle different.. Good Luck!
 
It's definitely this kind of crap that makes our cue deals uncomfortable. I had a situation with a guy that posts in this forum (and still does to this day) that goes by "midwikkid". I bought his line about being a starving college student and bought a Gilbert J/B cue off him. He hadn't mentioned anything about shipping, so I even offered to send an extra ten bucks so it wouldn't come out of his pocket. You can guess the rest of the story, I never received anything. Bad thing is ever so often this jerk still tries to sell something on AZ! I generally post the history of my transaction with him so everyone can see who they're dealing with. I also email him ever so often to let him know I have a real good memory... I don't let these people affect my trading, though. There are still a lot of great people in our game. I'm just a little more careful! Caveat emptor...

We must remember the Bad People are only 5%, when I worked in south Central 955 of our call for service were because of the 5%. Too bad we could not have made them DISAPPEAR, as with that 95% of the Problems would have also DISAPPEARED..... ;)
 
I have done business with Rocinante, bought a cue off him. Cue was exactly as described, even threw in a set of JP's. Very pleasurable experience.

Simply Amazing. I didn't think a person of that caliber could do pleasurable experience. Maybe I will have the same pleasure when I actually see a cue. I was actually pretty damn close to his house and with a bunch of big guys on vacation in madison wisconsin which is only three hrs away from this guys house. In fact my friends even knew where he lived (right by and D&Bs in chicago). It's a shame now that I looked back we shoulda went to his house. I hate shit people. You see i've way past the salty part I'm just downright pissed. I've had 2 bad reviews and one could have been bad review. This guy is even rude to the Azadmin which Id also like to thank personally for helping me after this guy stop responding to my PM's. Thanks all you guys for your input. I will try my best to keep these idiots out of selling things in here. I agree there are a lot of good sellers here. I think most of the people here are awesome. Plus i'm addicted to looking at cues and cases.

You can contact the state attorney general office in the state he lives in and state you case. There is a law reguarding mail fraud that may help you.
You will need to send them all of the info you have about this event.

Think you got fucked I got screwed by a guy on here my second day I did not no any one I got screwed by that mastercueartist guy on here $2200 in custom cues now .I will always use a escrow service but I have delt with zeeder and he is a awsome guy But I learned now I ask around now or I use a escrow 50 bucks is worth it I would give 50 bucks to get my $2,200 in costom cues back if ya have not delt with a guy spend a few buck son escrow to cover your ass or pay buy paypal so you can get your money back..

I hope you noticed the guy who posted that has exactly 3 posts here. If you read the link I posted Roscoe had problems with the same guy you are having problems with. If I remember correctly Roscoe never got the money for a cue he sold him, the guy claimed he mailed it. Finally Roscoe sold the cue to someone else and the guy threatened to call the states attorney (I'm sure he never did because he probably never sent the money).

You need to call the Postal Inspectors NOW. I would call in the daytime Monday thru Friday, after hours their phones roll over to a national control center.

You won't get your money back from paypal unless you buy the paypal buyer protection insurance. The only acception would be if he never sent you a cue. If he sends you a junk cue and you didn't buy the extra insurance you are out of luck. Only thing paypal cares about is did you receive the item.

I just wrote a complaint to POstal Inspectors website through their online thing and if that does not work I will contact attorney general of his county in Illinois. Thanks for the help.

What's Rocinate's real name? That would be more useful than a screen name -he can change those at will.
