Rodney announces Bonus Ball's return on FB

But what if BB has struck a deal with a major television sports network that will fund the project and air it as new entertainment to an audience that would reach far beyond what is to be found here on AZB? Programs that get ratings attract big advertisers, along with their big bucks. And that always means more money to the players.

If that was to happen, it wouldn't matter to the BB players what anyone here thinks, or what other tournaments they might not be able to play. They would be happy to be playing for Bonus Ball. And if the other tournaments were to somehow be negatively affected by the absence of those few top players, then pro pool was on the skids anyway because Bonus Ball being on TV should do nothing but help the entire industry.

I know I'm dreaming publicly here, but it never hurts to dream.

The official media contact number for BB is 1 (800) 951-9250
Has anyone tried calling it?

Beam me up Scotty there seems to be no intelligent life forms here
I can't hardly imagine anybody who is the position to strike such a deal willing to take a risk on something that has already failed they look for something established with a following not a prayer and a whim at a chance for success ,
If they are coming back the only time it makes any reasonable sense to attempt a come back would be after march madness not during football season ,it would surly be another fatal mistake

Not necessarily. I was watching a "professional" team dodge ball match on TV the other day. They were playing in a big padded arena on top of what looked like a big inflated mattress. The players were jumping, bouncing, and rolling everywhere. It was the goofiest thing I've ever seen, and yet it was right there on national TV. I seriously doubt that this was something that had an established following prior to being picked up by a TV network.

Just having TV broadcast something seems to give that something credibility. For example, look what it's done for poker.

I assume you see how that shirt thing is working out for Cleary....

They're not in the business of starting professional sports or games,

TV stations sell air time, they don't pick the commercials and they don't pick the shows, they simply supply the air time and charge the promoter of the show or commercial (though an ad agency). There are exceptions, but the "TV Station" has very little to do with NFL, NBA, PGA, MMA, or any other sport/game.

They're not in the business of starting professional sports or games, so they don't have anything to do with if it's televised or not. They charge for commercials and air time, that's the nature of their business. Their only priority is making money, just like any other business and they have it down to a science working with marketing and advertising agency's primarily.

I doubt if the owners of ESPN even watch their own station's shows. They wouldn't know what's on at any given moment, and frankly don't care, it's all about their "bottom line" and making profit. I would bet a fair percentage of them like pool, but that doesn't change a thing, if there's no pool promoters knocking at their door they're not answering....why should they when they have dodge ball and sand volleyball knocking?

CJ,

Are you saying the networks don't pay the sports organizations for exclusive rights? They don't compete and pay big$'s for sports programming so that they can make their $'s from subscription rates and advertising?

I know the major sports organizations are charging the networks premium prices for the exclusive rights to air their events. Nfl charges billions and the next nba deal is expected to be billions also.baseball hockey even soccer all charge mega $'s. From what I understand even the poker programs are bringing in the $'s. beach volleyball, darts they are all paid to be on TV and between the TV money and corporate sponsors, that is why a professional dart player makes more than a professional pool player.

I read an article the other day about how little league baseball players who make it to ESPN should be getting paid to play on TV. The author gave out exact figures for what the "non profit" organization brings in and the numbers from the TV deal with ESPN and the corporate sponsors would allow the organization to pay for a college scholorship or trust fund for every player on every team who made it on ESPN and the league still would not spend one tenth of the revenue generated from the post season series. ESPN alone paid millions to be able to exusivy air a certain number of games.

To me it seems like if bonusball had a sufficient leader managing the organization then a TV deal could be made that would more than generate enough revenue to sustain the operational costs and make plenty of profit. This does not even include the sponsorship $'s. if they were able to get bonusball on the board in Vegas then forget about it, the TV deal would be worth megabucks. The game is structured perfectly for that also.

Am I wrong in my thinking? I think you have experience in this field right? Please explain your thinking so that I understand better.

Thanks.
