I watch a lot of YouTube matches and Live Streams. I see Rodney is Playing with a Very Nice Cue.. Very Traditional..

What Does Rodney Play with?

I have also noticed that Efren almost Never has the same Cue. If I were the G.O.A.T,
I would have a Cue collection out of this World.

Anyone Have any Rumors or Facts about Efren's Cue Collection?

I may be wrong or at least not up to date
but the Efren cues are in the glenn collection
At least a dozen or so

But be of good cheerdenny glenn is working on something like the baseball hall of fame
where you can view the cue Mosconi ran 526 with
over 200 Balabushkas
including the ones played by Buddy Hall,St Louis lLouie,Eddie Taylor and lots of others

over 200 szamboti cues

The personal playing cue of untold number of great cue makers
No telling how many famous cue makers who donated a simple hoppe style titleist

Ronnie Allen's Gina,Daddy warbucks ginacue

My draw cue made by Keith Josey
The last Balabushka shipped by George balabushka to Jack potter the libra cue guru and
player of no small ability back in the day

Jack Straus cue ,Titanic Thompsons cue,Fats ginacue and others

He even has my red white and blue stars and stripes case that played "take me out to the ball game"
when the top was removed

Denny has gathered to preserve many if not most of the meaningful relics of a culture
that was once oh so different
Relics from Johnson City
The pride of New York Jersey Red has many cues, pictures, stories

He even bought Wimpy's gina after it was solen,Denny paid Wimpy for the rights of ownership if it ever shows

It can now be sold directly to Denny with no fear of the long arm
If you have any knowledge of its where abouts contact me

you might get a little JELLY(finders fee)
after it is recovered and returned to it's legal owner Denny

The collection contains many other famous filipino players
personal cues

Strange to say these are not the most valuable,in fact I know of no
other serious collector who buys them

By the way
Denny has 2 ultra fancy South west cues that he might sell or trade

In my opinion these are 2 of his very best, most desirable

Ivory ,scrimshaw,boxes etc

one is the last fancy dragon cue out of the Shop made by Jerry

these 2 were offered to me as a friend to place privately

They are not cheap!but worth the money, about the cost of a nice Ford pickup
with leather etc

I bet the cues will be worth more than a Bently in 10 years, the cars go down the cues go up
super rare South west or Szamboti cues any way

but I ramble

Rodney is one of those guys that I've seen play in person multiple times, and unless those times were within a few months of each other,I've never seen him with the same cue twice :scratchhead:.

The first time I saw him (1994-5)though,it was a Barry Szamboti. Tommy D.

yea

I watched a Rodney play over the weekend at Capone's in Springhill Fl. He is playing with a Pete Tascarella cue.

This is correct early this year watching a stream from California I think it was a set up match they said he was playing with a Tascarell cue that he had just got.

seen rodney at who open and was playing with a classy tascarella..said it reminded him of his szamboti.

I know who owns Rodney's US Open winning Gus. He's a member here and it's up to him to come foreward.

With the original shaft or LD?

Unless he has changed preferences, he has always said he likes "regular" shafts on his cues.

Whether it has lower LD characteristics than any other "regular" shaft can only be determined by him.

From what I've seen, none of his playing shafts are super thin, nor do they have the shorter ferrules.

I think he is more "old school" in his game and equipment.

I did notice his shaft didn't have a short ferrule. Do you think cutting my ferrule down to 1/4-5/16" would make a difference in deflection on my HXT shaft?....Plus removing the coating

I played with Rodney's Tascarella for a bit as I had some action but no cue when we were in Wyoming. Nice cue and regular shaft with Zan hybrid max tip.

Original shaft.
Rodney, Effren, Bustamante, Strickland, Van Boening.......all have proven you don't need an LD to get better.
There is no point in those shafts other than for an aftermarket industry to make money of you.
Falling for it is up to you.
LD's don't do anything for your game.
Just get used to your shaft and you can do the same thing with them all.

9Ballr...That is strictly your opinion, although it is denigrated by the many 1000's of expert players who are not top tier pros (whom I agree can make any cue shaft work for them), but still swear by LD shafts. Bob Jewett proved 20 years ago that the LD technology was valid. That's why today you have dozens of choices for LD technology. Some really love them...others can't stand them. They are NOT bunk, as is presupposed by your comments.

Scott, I'm "old school". I have watched many great players throughout the years, most of which didn't play with low deflection shafts. While I agree that said low deflection shafts may be valid, the companies that market them are clearly targeting league type players that are looking for something to make their game better. And they (Predator, O.B, etc.) are verrry successful at doing that. There's a lot of money to be made! That being said, I think they are highly overrated...

I'm assuming Rodney likes ivory ferrules. He had the
Szamboti mentioned, shoots with a Tasc now, and I'm
quite certain he shot with a Showman for a while. All of
those cues usually have ivory ferrules to my knowledge.
As far as deflection, ivory is said to have a lot more than
most, if not all, ferrule materials. So obviously, deflection
doesn't mean diddly poo to the Rodster :)

I heard Efren used to play with a $20 Philipino(spell check)
cue and he destroyed many a pro with it years ago. Not
sure what he plays with now, but I've seen a lot of different
cues used by him in many matches over the years(not in
person, but a time or 3).
