Romanian player in town looking for action

It's a long shot
But if he was to come to columbus I'll play just 10 ball if that's his game
And like you said an ahead
still not sure who he is but as long as he is not a pinyo he has action

former youth world champion, semi-finalist wpc, and has been among the top five in the eurotour many years. not sure if he has any merits in US, but he is a well known player here in europe

I played him at the U.S. open In the tourney
Prolly 07 or so

I think it is very funny that pool fans are trying to tell -

Chris , a professional player, high stakes gambler, great reputation, long history,

where he falls on the world depth chart. You would be better off asking him then telling him anything. He is an Expert at all this shit.

+1 lol...I love it when people try to tell others where a player sits in the pecking order having seen 1 live stream match, or read 1 AZ thread. Then the actual player comes in and puts them in their place with a simple one line answer "Your 300 number is way off".

It must be Friday....brings out the weekend experts on AZ!

I used to think old people were cool....

Thanks a lot Old Nine Baller now look what ya done to us old people! Not even sure if calling in Jay Helfert, Billy Incardona or John Henderson can fix this one.

Ya know Chris is kind of a throw back to a period (that I know of) in the mid 60's through the 70's where a pool player could go to a town and find someone willing to test their skills. To find out where on the food chain they sat or just maybe learn a little something to improve their status on said food chain. Having the nuts wasn't a necessity, but having the courage to step-up was. Having the smarts not to be a continual bust out was a big plus.

Chris has a history of that courage and also the smarts to go with it. For that he has my respect. Old Nine Baller if you want to call me a hugger then go for it, makes no difference to me. I will continue to praise Chris for being the warrior he has proved to be.

One last thing Old Nine Baller please stay at a Holiday Inn Express tonight.

You are talking about Vilmos Foldes right whom many people know?
Don't know how a discussion of a Romanian careened into discussion about the Hungarian Foldes
The Romanian must be one of these guys

Apparently Foldes was telling people at Hard Times he was from Romania instead of Hungary. The OP said that in a later post. Maybe trying to stay under the radar for a short time.

It was said here earlier that he won a hard times tourney under a false name.

I think that is off the radar, not under it.

Or just maybe they spend their time playing. But don't most only come by and visit for a reason ?
If we had to make a list of reasons why they don't post amateurs and anons telling them how to play would be in the top five

Well if it is Vilmos Foldes well he plays above the top Romanians. :grin-square:

It was not Vilmos. This guy was left handed and Vilmos plays right handed. His name is Babken Melkonian. He does play pretty sporty, but not like Vilmos.

You are grasping at straws, Al, I said Danny was the best one pocket coach

You are grasping at straws, Al, I said Danny was the best one pocket coach available and I'd take him and play anyone in the country on a 10' table.

There were no "weasels" involved (on this end anyway).

And "be at ease," I'll stay off your lawn from now on.....unless I need to take a "short cut". LMAO!!!

Wow, a 6 minute turnaround time.

C.J. Wiley said he'd play anyone in the country with Danny DiLiberto coaching him and then he weaseled out of it.

I do gamble and why would I stake dumping poolplayers against anyone?

You just sound foolish now. You are not even close to a top 1Pocket player but you can pretend all you want. I didn't start out to knock you but if that's the way you read it then I'm sorry.

I'm done responding to you and your fans.

Thanks
So seems that he is one of top players in Romania. Was one of 4 seeds in Darren's Dynamite Open and he won the secondary tourney. Not successful on eurotour
Played in W9B this year and was double eliminated in group stage

It still prolly won't happen
But if he comes to columbus and plays for 5 k
I'll give him 500 before we start for exp money
Like I said its a long shot
I don't expect him to pack up and head to my town
But he is welcome too
And can get action
