Ron V aiming system video and diagrams

ATTENTION EVERYONE................ i think we are at a pivotal moment here:speechless: :banghead: :slap:

What is pivotal is the fact that Spidey and Cleary have demonstrated that Spidey's cue is not using the same pivot point after the hip move. At first, even I thought Spidey might be stretching.

Now, it appears that Spidey and Cleary have clearly defined that the pivot point changes when the hip moves.

I think someone and/or some people might owe Spidey and Cleary an apology. :yeah:

Not stirrin the pot, but they did catch some heat from a few people about their perspectives and claim. I'm just sayin' their due some kudos for sticking to their perspectives and being correct about them.

Where'd PJ go? Where'd those other guys go? So Cleary posts my move and there's crickets chirping everywhere?

PJ may have been "So outta here" but I posted that the bet was still on. I want my money and I want him banned forever. Pay up. I would have not worried about it, but if I recall this morning he tried to make an ass out of me when he posted my PM with me trying to give him an out and he rammed me in public. Did I dream that?? Where's Mr. Wilson at?

i think we just hit a time warp back to the clinton 90's. we need to define what "is" is???

Stan,

As I said before, I am older than dirt, and I know for a fact that Eddie Taylor poo- poohed
the diamond system. He knew the effects of humidity, english used, and a dozen other factors, effected where the OB ended up. I know, that you know,
most of ET's shots wound up in the hole. If you want to say I don't have a clue, or I'm lying, thats certainly your prerogative. What about Willie and his disdain for aiming systems ? I know I'm in hostile territory, and I know I'm old school, but I'm going down swinging. It's been fun tweaking the "pool engineers". :)

Dick

Dick, I do not know what Eddie did. I have no desire to say you're lying. I am not sure about how Willie felt about aiming......
All I am saying is that systems exist and are used in many ways by many professionals.......Systems have their place......
Nothing wrong with the old school.......your input is as good as any

He must have been crying the whole time he was writing, "Winning Pocket Billiards"...
Well, yes, but there are a couple of things to note. As close as I can figure, Willie didn't write "Winning Pocket Billiards" and he (that is, the book) completely failed to mention either contact-induced throw, which is important on many cut shots, or squirt, which most people now feel is important for aiming shots with side spin. The book does mention swerve, but the diagram is fundamentally wrong. I think WPB is not a good place to learn how Willie actually made his shots.

Of course. What I've been saying all along is there is more to making a shot than aiming correctly.

As we all know, Willie had a gift for more than just aiming...

Ex world class straight pool player, from PA originally, and now the tournament director at Danny K's here locally ( still runs a century in his senior years ) played Mosconi in some of his exhibition matches. Wayne also played in the world straight pool championship at the Stardust. Wayne idolized Willie. He even copied his stroke-slip at the last stroke.
Wayne swears Willie used the ghost ball method and so did the other world class players then.

His masking tape on the cloth was done wrong too.
They were aiming at the contact points. Not to the middle of the ghost ball.

If you can watch those animations and not clearly see that the pivot point is moving (THE WHITE DOT ON THE CUE)... you will from now on be known as mr_dave.

I thought I was starting to understand but I went back to "confused" after seeing the video I'm not knocking your video. I don't even have a video, so obviously my video sucks. I appreciate your efforts and everyone's.

Before the video, what I thought was happening was that the bridge HAND stay fixed, but the cue rotates about some pivot point that is somewhere further from the cue ball than the bridge hand is. So, while the bridge HAND doesn't move sideways, the part of the shaft that is IN the bridge hand DOES move sideways.

Is that correct?

I thought the video was trying to demonstrate that, but I watched both videos several times; the pivot part of video 1 at least 20 times. :o

I saw the white dot moving, but I also tried staring at the blue dot labeled "bridge". I even stuck a piece of clear tape on my screen with a dot drawn on the tape. It looks like the dot labeled "bridge" doesn't move at all. I thought the bridge dot was supposed to move because it represents the piece of wood moving through the bridge (and because the bridge is not the pivot point).

Does the wording of my post make sense? If not, let me know and I will clarify. If the wording does make sense, can you correct where I went wrong in describing the system and/or where I went wrong in digesting the video? Does the blue dot move less than I am able to detect with my dot-on-clear-tape test?

I'm pretty happy with my "feel" aim, but I'm just curious to understand this. :)

Edit: At the risk of being captain obvious, this whole post is referring to Video 1, by the way, with the dot I drew on my screen overlapping the blue dot labeled "bridge". :)

I made a slight rewording to my post. The change is in red.

Com'on Spidey you seem like a good guy. Don't ban PJ. I think public apology might be good enough? Besides, if it weren't for his constant negativity, cleary would've never made that diagram, and a lot of people would still be confused here. Everybody actually got something good out of this whole debate.

Unless he says that Cleary's diagram proved nothing....then I give up on him.

Cleary and I collaborated on the animation. I was gonna make a video, but his animation is top-down--- easier to see than a webcam. Good thing he's a genius at putting it together quick.

When I woke up this morning, I posted saying I wasn't in a bad mood anymore-- and that I was on tilt-- and basically said I was sorry to PJ for doggin' him to death via PM. I told him in that PM he couldn't win the bet. I PMed him because I didn't want to make it a public flogging. I wanted him to know I was sincere. Instead, he copied/pasted my PM into a post and rammed it up my corn-hole telling me to pay the bet or else in front of the world.

I wont ban him, but I wanna get paid. If I would have lost (which I knew there was zero chance), I would have paid. A bet took place. I wasn't firing air. I said I was in and he accepted. There was no mutual agreement to walk.

He can hang, but I want my money. Else, ban him and add him to the IBA "bad action" list. Next time he comes over the top when someone asks to make a friendly wager, he should think twice without having the nuts.

EDIT: He can keep his cue. That's on me.
