Rule update

I agree with you that these should be the forums available. I primarily look at cases

Exactly Jim. Now you're talking cases. why would a case be for sale in the
Machinery/Ask the Cue Maker forum. When you do see something for sale in either of the two forums, its cue making related items, (wood, blanks, pins, shafts, machinery, or links to deals at Harbor freight, etc.)

Now, if you make a separate For Sale sub section, it won't be long before someone slips in a case, a cue, and then comic books, glass jars and mountain bikes. In no time at all, these two forums will be a little EBay just like the existing For Sale forum.
If it isn't broken, no need to fix it. If you really think about it, theres never any items for sale in any great quantity that would warrant a separate sale sub section. Once that happens, whos going to moderate it?

A couple of observations
#1) that the mod who made the rule change has been strangley quiet as to how this change came about, Another words, who was the complaintant, and what will they do about the feedback because of it?
#2) So far quite a few have violated the new rules/sticky in this one thread, that most responding to, asked for, but still here we are, bickering......................................
#3) What does that say about this section and the people that populate it....
it's interesting to watch from the sidelines as to how the 'important members' will act all on their own when left to themselves.......

This country was founded by rebels who were not happy with the rules & those making such rules. What does it say about this land & those that populate it? Same principle, different stakes. Would be hypocracy if the answer differed, wouldn't it? Right is right & wrong is wrong, no matter what aspect of life you want to address.

Guys, it doesn't matter who complained, asked, demanded...etc....we have established sections for sales.

The board does not need more sections because some don't want to visit the sales are that is too busy for them or because they don't want to be bothered with a private reply to direct questions.

We are also not going to create more areas just because a few insist it makes the few happy either.

How much happier would everyone be if we needed to charge subscription fees etc to offset all these demands?

Is it just too much to ask that you be happy and cooperate with us while you use a FREE service?

That would kill the AZ Billiards forums, imo. But give it a try if you don't believe me.

Yes, just as it has always been. You apparently don't know that you cannot please all of the people all of the time.

It may be close to the same principle but not the same. The difference was when this country was founded it was done so for the betterment of the population. Not just a few wanting self service.

~~~>not trying to be a rebel.........just saying...
Is it also too much to ask for the machinery forum to be renamed?
That's not adding any more areas, but would go a long ways towards freeing up the cuemaker forum from the for sale stuff.
No soup for you!!!
I agree, simply name change = no further bickering, unhappiness, etc. If you want to look for cuemaker supplies, no searching for hours in the F/S section.
Cue Machinery/Components
No new forums. Just add a single word.
To be honest, I always thought that was what that section was for anyway.
Buying/selling machinery and cue parts. :smile: :cool: :smile:
Looking at the list of forums, scrolling down to Cue Machinery, below that it says:
All about cue machinery. Buy, sell and trade machinery as well as how to make those machines do all that work.
And Behind Door #3
Seems to me that one of the main issues here revolves around keeping information on cue making techniques, suppliers and products within the community and not making them so easily available to the general public. In working towards solutions, is the value of an open forum being gradually dwindled away?
I for one, value the opportunity to have access to the experience and knowledge of the forum members here. Being new to cue making(and these forums), and having everything to learn, access to the information presented, including the different opinions and solutions, products available, etc, is a valuable resource to me.
Although some may not agree, I am willing to pay for the right to have access to and be a part of a community of cue makers willing to share. Requiring a paid subscription would go along way to weeding out the general public, possibly leaving a “safe” place to share information, post products, suppliers, show off work in progress, etc. There should be a place for cue makers to connect with each other and not to correspond with end users.
Maybe “Ask the Cuemaker” should be just that, a forum for the public to ask questions of the Cue Makers “group”, but not have access to subscription forums.
As for the idea of paying for something that is now free, I’ve always believed that nothing is ever “Free”. I ‘m sure that most members here can relate to information or products they have found here that have saved them time or money and gone towards increasing their workmanship. It would be up to you to decide what that is worth.
Development and maintenance of a forum is going to take someones time and expertise. If a reasonable subscription fee is what is needed to make this happen, sign me up!!
We have private forums, and do group buys of materials. What you are talking about exists. The ICA is not the only such organization.
I would agree with you on the name change. I would think that unless you are selling the item yourself the PM rule should still apply about sources and prices. If you are selling the item yourself then the price should be allowed.
Great name change suggestion.
