Sales / Wanted rules Update

Sounds like a smart plan to me. acedonkey ace still posts his 1/2 piece of used chalk 7 times a week along with 123354128576 other items and I'll sell Bushkas and Szams and Ginas and Tads in secret on eBay and you guys won't have to look at them (I received one negative comment regarding my eBay auctions from one member in 5 years and now the mods have just banned my activity as what? Disruptive to their for sale forum? Oh yeah that will fix things).

Nice job mods. Ever since I joined here (after sellng a Szam on eBay for $55,100 which created quite a stir her on AZ and I'm guessing that really great thread watching that auction would now be banned in favor of some cross-referenced broken overpriced production cue thread) people have been getting ripped off by utilizing unsafe on-line buying practices here at the AZ For Sale Forum. I have been seriously trying to educate people on how to buy safely online, all of which has gone unnoticed by the mods and now this? Are "I was scammed" threads still allowed in the For Sale section or do they go in the Main Forum?

I think this is pretty easy to understand......why do people keep trying to bend the rules to suite there own personal needs. Thank You Mr. Wilson
 
These are great updates to the rules. :thumbup:

I hope that Mr. Wilson includes the "Must post a price" rule in the future. Another forum I frequent has this rule in place and surprisingly the members police it pretty well. If you don't know the value of an item we have a section to figure it out, and after 3-4 opinions people generally have a good idea of value. That site also has a "5 bump max" rule in place and no more than one bump in a 24hr period. It keeps the newly listed items near the top for a longer amount of time. I don't think it would work here though......too many people are friends with each other and would give bumps to friends using b.s. questions to do it.

I also hate the "all PM's replied" bumps. It's a crock. There's a box at the top of the page to tell me if I have a PM and trust me, if I'm interested in what your selling and expecting a PM back.... I'm watching that box!

There are over 18,000 cues now on ebay. If we had the option of searching ebay by only AZ sellers that I am familiar with, then yes, no separate section would be needed.

It would be nice to be able to browse fellow AZer's ebay auctions in a separate section. If you don't want to go there, don't click on it.

Yeah that "must post a price" rule would only exclude about 1/2 the buyers and sellers of the truly collectible cues. I think we should just keep making rules until all this forum is is a bunch of guys scamming each other on warped production cues.

Kevin,

I think you're over reacting a little here. We all know you sell nice cues and I do think we should be able to "find" them using this forum. However, as I suggested, maybe a seperate area for them is needed.
No offense to VonRhett, but desmocourtney said it better than I....

The majority of "big cue" buyers DON'T, for a # of reasons, want the cost of their acquistions common knowledge, so, lets consider an over $X price level.

If "X" ='s 5K, for example, the price listed would be $5K+.

It's simple, just have another section of the site dedicated to those who wish to link to outside ebay sales. It would be easy. In fact, we already have a section that isn't being used anymore. The raffle section. Just post those links there.
 
Mr. Wilson, I hope you also moved the people wanting charity posts somewhere else, this is not the area....forsale/wanted is what this section is.....

That's not the AZ plan. That's your plan. The new rule is I no longer post cues I have for sale on eBay here in the AZ For Sale section. That's the ACTUAL rule. Wilson wasn't floating an idea or asking for member's feedback, he was setting the new AZ For Sale section rule.

Why? If you want 200.00 for a cue it's o.k. to let everybody know, but if you want 20k it should be kept a secret???? That makes no sense to me. This is AZ's wanted/for sale section not AZ's put your eBay link here section. All your ads state you don't end auctions early so once it's on eBay it's no longer for sale here.......I think that's what Mr. Wilson is addressing here. There's no reason you can't put nice pictures (like you always supply) in the gallery and a header saying "Gus Szam now on eBay". The fact is once you start an auction it's no longer for sale here unless your going to start pulling auctions early.
 
I will ask Mike about the raffle section.

However, posting eBay links in the sales area doesn't help us here.
 
I'm not sure if this is a rule already or not but... I would like to see a rule put in affect where if you post something for sale/trade you are required to post pics of the actual cue, case, shaft etc. you are trying to sell. Not a catalog pic. And if you fail to do so the thread gets deleted. I've viewed some threads on here lately where someone is selling something and doesn't post pics or says that they will and never does.


I also have an idea for new sellers or sellers with low itrader. In a picture of what your selling simply write your screen name, azbilliards.com and the date on a sheet of white paper and place it next to what your selling. This will eliminate any doubt that the person actual has the item there selling. One example is a thread I saw around a year or so ago where a NEW seller posted a tascarella cue for sale and luckily someone on here discovered the pictures were from a cue book. I am posting a pic for example of my idea.

P.S. cue in pic is NOT for sale.....it's my Baby!!:thumbup:

You would think it would be about being exposed to what's available. Right now there's a camera listed on page one in trade for a cue, by the new rules that's allowed. Really in the first 5 pages right now how many for sale threads are pointing to an eBay auction? Is that REALLY what's clogging up the For Sale section?

I agree with this. A subsection for links to ebay auctions would be great.

I rarely go to ebay but I follow most links that are posted here. It would be nice to browse those links in a dedicated subsection.

Some collectors would rather not have the prices they paid for their items plastered all over the internet. Sellers that try to please those collectors and attract their business try to do business in a way that works for their buyers. Are you saying that in your opinion its OK for me to post by eBay auctions is the gallery section? Have you checked with Wilson on that?
