Santos has moved to chicago area and is giving lessons out of Chris' II in Des Plaines, IL. I had some lessons and took a pic with him... He is a real nice guy and very unassuming... He taught me a lot and he loved my 9 ball break, which made a hack like me feel good.

I am not going to give out his personal info on here, but if you go to Chris' II he has a flyer with his contact info.

Here is a pic of me with him.

Pound for pound, the biggest break in pool!

Santos is a great guy, I had the chance to travel with him in Northern California for a few weeks. He used to call his family every night to tell them goodnight and doesn't have a mean bone in his body.

And yes he has a huge break for his body weight, probably the title for longest bridge too.

I can't believe I got beat by this guy at DCC!!!! Absolutely unbelievable.... Seriously though, He's a great player, with a great stroke. It was a pleasure just to get a chance to play pool with him.

Everytime I think about this, It makes me laugh!

I have a little story about Santos. I used to run tourneys at a room in WA. state. About 13 years ago, I ran a week end open 9 ball tourney.(2k added) I didnt know all the players back then like I do now. This little guy walks in the pool room with a buddy while I was doing the draw, and asks when the tournament will start etc. When I told them in about 30 minutes, they said they were going to get some breakfast and would be right back. Before they left, santos buddy asks where he was on the board. I looked on the board with them and saw santos played a local guy first round (the local guy was one of the best in town) As Santos and his buddy walked out the door, I remember thinking to myself, Awe, that poor little guy has to play john.(not his real name) LOL. I HAD NO IDEA WHO SANTOS WAS, LOL. He ended up winning the tournament. Boy, did I feel like a dumb nit. LOL
Santos played amazing pool. I had really never seen anything like it before. Truly very talented. I am so glad to see him doing well in big pro tourneys. Very nice man!!!

What's Santos' tournament record? I wish there were more videos of him playing on youtube....

So, what did you learn here????

I found out a long time ago, you can never, ever, look at someone and tell whether they can play pool or not.

good things do happen to nice guys

One of the best pool videos I have ever seen was Santos winning a huge "skins" pot (was it about $78K?) in some ring game with world class pros....He has been overshadowed by the names of Jose, Efren, Francisco, and others, but that was his moment in the sun, and it was good to see.....

yeah i saw that final rack. santos looked nervous, but pulled off the out like any professional would.

i know he's from the philiphines, and doesn't really legally live here, is his english good enough to give lessons without having troubles understanding him?

i'd love to have a chance to pick the brains of one the philipino contengent's top players.

From my observation only, he gets pretty nervous in tough situations and that may be the only thing holding him back from greatness.

Yes, definately Sam

Yes, it did teach me you cant look at a person and just by his/her stature, ect, be able to tell if they can play or not. I am a very good example. LOL (5'1")

So, now I know

You were trying to hustle me. You're short like Santo's and play like him too. Ahh, the world is full of pool hustlers, always trying to get an edge. LOL

Santos vs ??? in chicago

Playing onepocket -- Santos vs Chris Gentile -- The winner is ???????

Yeah, Santos can definitely play and can break too...

I was playing Santos at the 2006 swannee and he was a little monster. He broke and ran the first two racks, then broke too hard and a little off and let the CB fly off the table. I ran and then broke and ran, then I broke and missed the four ball. After a couple of safety battles, I didn't get another shot that match.

I don't know Santos' one-pocket game (it's Chris's specialty), but Chris is a shortstop, not a pro.

Santos (or Sonny) is very dear to Mike and me. I have great memories of practicing 8-ball with him in the IPT and I actually led 6-5. I was playing good and he was making mistakes. He got disgusted with himself and went to another table. But it was all hugs later.

Here's a picture with Santos and a couple other guys that I think can play a little. :p

Seen Santos beat top players in SacTown Hard TImes in one pocket tournament.;) I think he beats Gentile.

Just remembered he won a big UPA tournament in NY City.

LOL Sir, I am definately not a hustler!!!!!

NOOOOO!!!! Not a hustler, but I like to play. And when something is on the line you work harder. Dont you agree?

And no, I definately dont play like Santos. LOL

Just teasing you

You made that comment about being small like him, and not looking like you could play, so I figured I would tease you a little. Chances are, if you played close to his speed, I would have heard of you.
Have a GREAT day......
