So far I'm really happy with the new location for the super Billiards expo but the pro arena is terrible. It's wide open and noisy. Assholes answering cell phones and talking loud. I would rather go back to paying for it. Our best deserve better then this for a major tournament. The world won't treat our game seriously and with respect if we don't.

I heard they removed the bleacher seating as well. How do they expect spectators to view the table when seated at floor level? You would think with all the experience this show has that they would have all of the bugs worked out, guess not.

I won't be there until Saturday this year. Hope it is worth the extra 1-1/2 hour drive.

They still have bleacher seating but it's all like the VIP side used to be. Folding chairs and tables

I'm really surprised to hear that. When it was at Valley Forge you could hear a pin drop, that and Earl complaining. But you could hear everything he said. "I'll be in the soup line soon"! One of my favorite Earl lines.....

is there a tournament director making these player introductions?

My "pet peeve" at Pro Tournaments lately is not announcing the matches and who's playing, is there a tournament director making these player introductions?

8K added cant be a major-no way

20 yrs ago we had 5K added tournies held in pool rooms. Never attracted anyone from more than 100 miles.

Knew

When I read there was no admission to get in I knew it would turn in to a rest stop for the weary and bored. It is a shame that a expo featuring Pool treats it's Professionals like third class citizens.Provide a food court area for the uninterested cell ph. Talkers.

Post some pics please.

Better yet, download the Photosynth app from the app store and take a few panoramic pictures.

The Game's going to need a clean slate, it's just a matter of time.

Yes, this seems to be the trend. The last Pro tournament I played in was in Las Vegas and I played Shane the third round and they didn't announce any of the matches, no towels, no water, no powder, and I was pleasantly surprised they had chalk without sand mixed in it. ;) The prize money was about a third of what I expected, which was tolerable, however, the lack of respect for the players wasn't {tolerable}.

"Action speaks louder than words".....the Pros need a new avenue to showcase their skills, regular tournaments will keep getting worse because that's where the momentum is directed, it's no one's fault at this point - the Game's under the equivalent of a "negative gravitational pull".

Everything in life is about momentum, and once health, business, or trends start moving in a negative direction, they rarely turn around, without something drastic happening. There must be a "cleansing," or a "rebirth".

It's time for the cycle to complete and the Birth of a new age of professional pool. The Game will need a clean slate, it's now just a matter of time. 'The Game is the Teacher'

Just one time I would like to see players do something to improve their own situation instead of come up with lists of shit for other people to do for them.

As long as the majority of players just want to show up, get the added money and leave then they are going to be playing under whatever conditions the promoter decides he can afford. Go get some money, make your events the way you think they should be. Constantly talking about how things should be sounds like a teenager complaining to his parents that they bought him a used car instead of a new one.

I have a case, I can put a towel , powder, chalk in it and buy a bottle of water in most cases. I also hear voices in my head so I don'tneed an announcement of my name.

I was there Thursday from about noon till 3.

Watched a match with John Archer, and another with Derek Appleton. Not exactly sure of the exact names since I'm a newbie to this.

Pro arena is about 8 tables with really crappy folding chairs on a 3 or 4 tier 'bleacher' with tables on each level. I had nothing to compare it to so I didn't know what to expect. Archer didn't miss a shot the entire match, just run after run. Very impressive to see for my first time.

On the show overall, primarily higher-end cue vendors and lots of repair shops. Only really about 2-3 general pool merchandise shops, so I was disappointed in that. Prices pretty much just what you can get from Ozone or Muellers on general pool merchandise online.

It was nice to go to see a few matches .... But would I go again ? Nah, I don't think I would. Not really much there unless you're really into very high end cues, or want to watch the matches. Kind of an overall low class basement type environment to be honest .... But I didn't really know what to expect. No announcement of matches of any kind, no signs, nothing, so if you don't actually know who somebody is by sight ... You're just watching guys shoot pool. A guy sitting near me pointed out who Archer and Appleton were. Players all racked their own balls.

Concrete floors, and lots of people and players in dirty jeans, flannel shirts, and ripped t-shirts. Pretty much exactly like your local neighborhood bar.

Not trying to bust on the show .... Just sayin what I saw. If I were a world class player .... I wouldn't even want to go in the building after having seen it inside.

"Chalk without sand in it." :lmao::rotflmao::rotflmao1::killingme:

Pro players get very little respect in America. It seems like the industry members support other industry members -- think BCA organization -- and the American pro players are scrambling for any crumbs they might throw their way. :embarrassed2:

Back in the '80s, "Machine Gun" Lou Butera said that Brunswick, Simonis, Aramith, Diamond, Olhausen, and all the others big industry members should be putting on their own tournaments for professional pool players. We should be having a Brunswick International, Simonis Championship, an Aramith Challenge, et cetera, et cetera.

Not much has changed, Mr. Butera, sad to say. :frown:
