did anyone else realize they are also having another event the same weekend as the expo....some log and timber home show....i wonder if this will shut down the expo early due to having other venders....and how much of the EXTRA space will they be taking away from the 200000 sq ft that they have been bosting about? and all that extra parking they have been talking about it having,will it really be more with the extra show? i am assuming there will be walls between the two shows? i really like the old place as it was all pool...i will still go this year but if its not better than the years before i might just have to wait till june for my vacation and hit up little kennys great northeast show...hoping this is a move for the better but we will all have to see...
 
I'm really not sure how they're gonna set it up, Mickey. Maybe 'How It's Made' is also coming in to show how it got from a log to a pool cue.
 
Nope this is the 1st time hearing that, and its b.s. ,I only hope it doesnt take up to much space......
 
hmmm this is interesting. I really hope it doesnt cause problems, I was really excited for this move

that is correct is has double the space however i thought was one of the BONUS to moving for more space...what good does more space have if someone else is using it? o yea more parking but another show user is using it...plus there is still no hotel on site...i am not sure this is going to be a good thing...

Check out the dates on the actual log and timber home show. They differ from the SBE dates......... one of them is wrong..

I just hope there isn't an issue with the gambling tables and the venue. Also hope they keep the tables open nearly all night like before.
 
We don't know all the details. The closing of VFC probably caught SBE by surprised, as they usually have their dates planned out years in advance.
How do we know The Timber and Lumber show didn't book Oaks center first?

Having twice as much space available as VFC means there is more room for future expansion. From a renter point of view it means paying more to rent the whole space. I'm guessing the square footage price at Oaks comparable to VFC as both are in the same area. As a business expense, higher rent may get passed to the consumer as higher entry prices.

You are free vote with your wallet. SBE has a successful track record. So, before we past judgement, let's give SBE a chance to put on 2012.

i wasnt passing judgement yet...just the reasons i have heard for the new venue and all the positive things about the move just dont seem as good to me when i thought there was going to be another show there....someone posted that the dates might be incorrect....plus i vote with my wallet i support the vendors with my cash and buy a weekend pass for the show...if they raise the price i still dont care as this is my one vacation a year away from work...however i dont have to go and i can promise you this my money wont break anyone at the expo...but i really do enjoy going to this show and look forward to it the day after i leave for the next year....:D

If you look at the picture it has an area for "practice tables" and from what I have heard they will be used for gambling. Also I'm pretty sure it will be open all night as well.

I don't think it's that big of a deal.

If you look at the picture, i put the SBE picture on top of the blueprint picture of the Expo Center.
SBE will only be using halls A and B. You still have a huge hall C and a smaller hall D that can also be used.

Historically speaking, before the expo became really really big, there were always other things going on simultaneously. Computer shows, crystal/jewelery shows, gun shows. (depending on which expo) and they were on different floors or partitioned off where security would be stationed to keep people from sneaking in.

I would think that if the dates aren't a typo, there is probably still more then enough room for both shows to go on at the same time, given the size of the new place.
The SBE festivities will probably be unimpaired IMO.

I am looking forward to the SBE,,as i do every year,,it is hard to get and event off this big,,best of luck,, lets give it a chance,, ,,i will be there,,

Thanks for the map. Hall D will be the Pro Arena, I think.

As for the Timber people, they have a map on their site. The area they are going to use is Hall C, so even if they are there at the same time there is no conflict. But some of the dates on their site says they won't be there until a week later (and some say they will overlap).
