SBE VF 2009: Dinner @ Sullivan's 3/20

Myself and Paul Mon would like to join everyone. It sounds like a great time and I had been looking for a high end restaurant experience. See you there.

Monto,
That would be great if we could both make it to VF. I missed it last year because I was in Italy. I'll be back in Bangkok next month, if you make it down we can play again.

Dinner Plan for 3/20/09

Hayden,

I too, would very much enjoy being in the company of such a distinguished group of individuals on Friday evening at Sullivan's.
Putting screen names with faces and personalities means as much as the show itself.

Best Regards,
Hal

We'd certainly love to have you Hal. I'm hopin' we can get some of the cuemakers to come later on too after their booths are closed. I'm hoping we get some nice surprise walk-ins on word of mouth. I agree though with putting the screen names and personalities together in person. You could walk around the Expo for 4 days and walk right past one another and not even know it.

hey

I will be there with bells on.......what does that mean...LOL
Also my son and my son inlaw will be there too... so put me down for 3
Steve

Hey Guys,
I have the Highendcues booth as always.. We can't breakdown till 8pm, so 9 is probably the earliest I could get there..
I would love to see everyone.. Count me in..
Best,
Ken Kerner

I will have a rental car so if anyone wants a ride let me know. I will be able to go at around 8:30 or so. It may be a little early to plan rides just yet but the offer is there if I have room. Chris.

This might be a stupid question but I have three Army guys here in Afghanistan with me that are pool enthisiast. After telling them about the expo they now have hotel reservations. This gathering is only for AZB members I assume?

If they're friends of yours...love pool...and are decent guys....absolutely. Bring'em. I'll put you down for three more.

23 already. I'm thinking we're going to definitely require the library. I'm going to make a phone call tomorrow and see if they require any kinda deposit for reserving that kinda space on a Friday evening.

Library is booked. The special events coordinator says the space handles up to 90 people...so we have plenty of room to grow. They're looking forward to having us. She says there's no need pay a deposit...as long as we don't bail out. She's sending me a banquet menu...but I think it'll be easier if everyone just does their own thing as they come and go. Thoughts?

I think it will be best if everyone does their own thing with different folks coming at different times. Just my opinion. I've been stuck with the chow hall for the past two years and I tend to "over do it" when I come home to all the great resteraunts and such. During this gathering I know I will order at least twice. LOL

Done deal. :-) They're really looking forward to having us. I haven't been this excited about something in a long time. I'm glad I thought of this. It's sure to be one helluva time.

I don't think they will let us casually order. Groups such as this need to be organized and I'm sure they will ask us to preorder from their banquet menu. I also think they will require it to be on one bill with gratuity and tax included. At some point they are gonna ask for a solid number of guests and we will be responsible for paying on that number.
I suggest we ask for a non refundable deposit of say 25.00 per guest to ensure those who have made reservations are commited. I liked the idea of getting together with fellow AZ'rs and putting a face to an internet friend but to let others who aren't members and active posters participate could create a problem with reservations.
I own and operate a successful steakhouse and can foresee many problems with this idea. www.tillmansvillageinn.com.

Hey Tommy. I just spoke with the special events coordinator at Sullivan's. We have the library reserved with seating capacity of roughly 90. We have the library until the closing of the dining room...and then we have the bar from there. They have no problems with people ordering as they come and go. :-) I was thinking the same thing you were...since we were going to be taking up so much prime real estate on a Friday...but they didn't have an issue with it. I also think there's a chance that we get close the the capacity number...with people still wanting in, by the time March rolls around. Obviously there's enough time to iron things out...which is what I wanted. If it evolves to a banquet style setting...then I'll take the appropriate recourse....even if it means collecting costs ahead of time from those who plan to attend.

This is a perfect time to stress to everyone that if you have a casual conversation with someone about this event, that you let them know if they plan to attend....they NEED TO POST HERE IN THE FORUM so head count can be taken. Casual walk-ins will put a strain on the situation. I'm kinda tasking everyone here to help me out on this. I know its an exciting event...but if you share it with others...let them know what's expected of everyone involved. :-) An RSVP with me is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. Sullivan's asked us to be firm on this so that they can staff accordingly. We'll practically have an entire shifts worth of waitstaff just for our party. For the record...I'm going to max this out at 90 people, firm. Everyone else will have to enjoy themself at the bar. Not that that's an entirely unpleasant experience. It's wall to wall mahogany with an awesome 3-piece jazz band. I know I like to have a cigarette/cigar periodically anyway...so I'll be making jaunts to the bar anyway.

Everything will work out fine. This is going to be one helluva shindig.

The thread is getting a lot of attention already and the expo is still four months away! I'm willing to bet you get more than 90 AZB members signed up. This is going to be a good time.

If we get more we get more. I mean...we already have the library booked. I'll book the whole goddam joint if I have to. LOL I figure by the time January rolls around...everyone ought to be absolutely twitchin' for the Expo to come 'round. Coming at the end of the second day of a four day event...this is going to be like the 7th inning stretch. I'm so stoked it's retarded.
