Hi,

I need help in identifying my cue.. It has a mark "sL" on the bottom. After searching the web, I came across the Schon SL-24 cue. Is mine an old Schon SL-24 or just a copy? Does anyone know what "sL" cue maker is? Appreciate the help.. I have attached pics of the Schon SL-24 and my cue for comparison.

I am no expert, but I do not think that is a SCHON (by just seeing the 1 pic that you added).

You should add more pictures of the cue, and include a picture of the joint pin, on both the butt and shaft parts of the joint. The joint on SCHON cues looks very unique, due to how large and fat the pilot it on the 5/16x14 joint pin. Please add more pictures.

Show us a picture of the rest of the cue. It would say Schon on the butt cap, not like yours. Also the rings aren't there on your cue. I'd say it's a chinese knockoff. How does it play?

The yellow (Micarta?) ferrule does look interesting. The butt appears to be cheap though. Maybe overlays (not inlays)? I do not know. The pin is always the 1st thing that I look at on a cue. If the joint is a flat faced 5/16x18, then that is usually an indicator that it is cheaply made (unless it is from a well known cue maker that is known for that type of joint, or unless it is very clearly a good quality cue, made with nice woods). A lot of cues coming from China look pretty nice these days though.

It's about as real as a $200 bill, sorry but everything is wrong on that cue. Joint collar, joint pin, all of the ringwork, bumper, wood selection, logo, inlay size...which are probably stickers. Not even close.

Indeed a "fake". And the "sL" was clearly intentional. Most likely Asian.

And I think those are clearly overlays, not inlays.

If it plays fine and you like it, no big deal, unless you paid too much based on thinking it might be a Schon.

What I don't like is that it has "sL" on it, clearly an attempt at perpetrating a fraud. That I have a problem with.

Unfortunately, it's fake. Even if the butt was cracked and replaced, it still should have had the Schon logo or close on it.

It could be but why would someone fake it and not put Schon on the butt? Was it advertised as a Schon?

I have a Schon SL-5 with two shafts I no longer use but I refuse to sell it here because it is an old cue and I've seen too many drama queen epic meltdowns on this forum from buyer's remorse. I'd rather sell it in person.

Not even a good imitation!

Avoiding trademark lawsuits and other lawsuits, even potential criminal charges.

The "sL" is not a trademark. The Schon logo is.
