Unfortunately you are correct, they hire the Asians and especially the females because they have absolutely no balls whatsoever and will do whatever management says whenever they say it and wont do anything to make a dime off a player especially if they think it will get them into any trouble at all.

This aint opinion, its fact and i see it every single day.

Having experience and knowing what youre doing and knowing how to talk to players is a thing of the past, ya heard it here first.
 
It is sad yet not surprising that he has to retire. So many strong players I know have decided to call it quits as it was not worth wasting years of their life away with little to no money out there. While they could probably make some decent cash gambling, it is not worth it trying to go from place to place for scores.

It is sad. Someone came around and gave guys some "hope." It didn't pan out and now they are stuck with the same stuff they've had for years.
Had those guys not came around and gave people hope, the players would never feel like they've lost anything.
Those silly players should have just stuck with the same old promoters, and they wouldn't feel like they've lost anything, since the same old promoters seem to make sure they don't offer anything more.
 
This is the best move for Scott Frost at this time in his life while he's still got time to build a career. I personally realized in 2006 that it was impossible to earn a living in profesional pool. Even when you win a tournament, you're still stuck from the others. One must win, place, or show to break even. Nobody and keep that pace up, not even Shane.

There are a lot of good jobs out there for men if they apply themselves.

In particular, working on ships seem to pay big bucks. Friend of mine works on a tugboat or a barge. He works 180 days a year and makes $180,000, plus gets benefits.

Not many people want to get into this industry because you are away from home so much.

There's a shortage of maritime workers on all levels -- engineers, first mates, assistants, captains, et cetera -- and they cannot fill the job openings.

If I was a man, this would be the direction I'd go in. It would be kind of cool working 180 days out of the year and making that kind of dough. :)
 
Scott live in the P.I. For one year rather than dealing. You' ll get all the action make money both ways playing and teaching. They might even put you on Movies if you can act because you're a Big American - No BS. This happened to two people I know. That country loves us. The other neighboring countries like China, Taiwan and the likes might even pay you to pick your 1P World Champ Brain... Lots of possibilities with the right attitude!

If you're single I doubt you'll ever wanna leave there but if you're married it could be trouble. A friend of mine who was married to a beautiful Filipina here went to the P.I. With her friends Filipino husbands for a golfing trip. They wanted to show him a good time and out of 6 guys he was the only American the rest were flippers. Long story short. He never was able to play golf with his flipper buddies never set foot on a golf course and when he came back home to San Fran the first words out of his mouth when his 38yr old wife opened the door was "Get the F*** out of my house!!" The girl he met then was 25 he's 51. He's been going back ever since. The 25yo fling is no more, now he is with another 25yo that works in a Call Center I guess the others got older. True Story.

PS. He's not rich either he's worked for the power company for 28yrs he is waiting for his pension and moving down there. I've never seen him this happy, determined and focused in the 23yrs I've known him. He even looks younger :)

Football players used to have to work in the off season wherever they could find work.
Baseball players used to do the same.
And on and on and on.

Until their sport got the fan base, marketing, and TV deals.

Maybe it's me, but I don't think there are 5 American pro players that don't do something for a living besides pool. Am I wrong? Here's who I can come up with. Who can add to the list?

I also don't know their personal finances. If someone is independently wealthy for a non pool playing reason and don't work, that shouldn't count. I'm asking for a list of pros that make their money from shooting pool and pool related ventures (sponsorship/lessons, etc).
 
After all is said and done, the only thing left is to respect Scott's decision and to wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavors. He had the work ethic to become exceptional at pool, and if he applies himself similarly in his future pursuits, a bright future may lie ahead.

What sense does this make. If he wants to play fewer tournaments just do it, what is with the announcement? Who cares, he has to do what he has to do in his life like all of us. Is he looking for some kind of sympathy because he can't make a living playing a game? I bet a lot of people would like to get paid to fish all day but life is not like that. Has he done anything to try to better his situation? Does he run a tour like Tommy Kennedy, or teach like Scott Lee?

The way professional tournaments are stuctured 75% of the players lose an average of $1000. a tournament (entry fee plus expenses). Out of the 25% that actually "get in the money" only about half of them make a profit over and beyond entry fee and expenses.

That leaves approximately 12.5% that finish "in the black" and make enough to support their life styles for the next week/month/3months.......this is an impossible situation.

People are talking about how bad Bonus Ball was for paying ALL the players for many weeks, then not paying them for 4 weeks, however the regular tournaments are much worse than that......how can you possibly like "those apples".....they're pretty sour.

In the 90s we were on ESPN and Prime Sports so we could get sponsors, but these days, with "free" streaming broadcasts (that are only seen by "hard core" fans) there's no chance for Pros to get sponsorship that actually pays more than $500. per month.....this is down 90% overall, so the sport/game of pool has effectively "painted its self in a corner".

The entire industry is down almost 50% and I believe it's from not supporting a TV show featuring pro players. I saw this coming at the turn of the century, but there was nothing I (or any other player) could do about it.

The players, as a result have no chance to succeed, except a select few that have ALL the available sponsors. It's a sad reality, and the only way out of it is through consistent TV exposure, probably through a "Reality Show" emphasizing the pool life style, travel, food and "pool room characters".

Well it's a sad but positive day... I just enrolled into the best dealing school here in Arizona. Since bonus balls demise it has turned my life upside down... There are not enough big tournaments for me a year to make a living and my long journey of big money games and beating the best are over. I've accomplished everything plus some I've set out to do like champion of "legends of 1pocket, derby city, us open, music city, 7time AZ state champ, and I truly believe I've been ranked #1 on earth playing 1pocket for several years now. that in itself is a dream come true! It's my time to put the cue down and officially say I'm retiring from pro pool. I will still play a few events like derby a year for fun, but as for a living it's nearly impossible unless I was a world champion 10-ball player with no life or family... It's a terrible shame that pro Billiards never got big enough to motivate me to be a top rotation player, "wich I know I could of been" just not enough gold at the end of the rainbow for me. So it's official I Scott Frost captain of the 1st place team the Phoenix fire is retired as of now. Wow! What great ideas. Scott could get a job working on a tug boat in the Philippines and during his off time could play, instruct, and be a movie star. Send Scott an e-mail as soon as possible and tell him the good news.

Some people live in the dark ages of the interwebz. They have no Idea what kinda stuff they are missing. You don't need pros to come on here to keep up with them. The post enough by themselves.
 
Am I the only one who thinks that Scott may not find the success he is looking for in the future by attending dealer school?
 
The Casino for the most part allow smoking, so I can imigine at shift end all the second hand smoke you are exposed too. NO Thanks.
