Seaglass505 shafted me. Buyer's beware! - Advised by ToomnyQs to re-post it here

Disregard, I thought the sticky for Transaction Report would be good for this thread but didn't read it's purpose.

That looks like a very beautiful cue. I have no idea who made it, but it looks like a good quality custom cue with a G10 pin (and hopefully worth enough money to make up for the items that were not received by the OP, and the everything else that the OP was not happy with about what he received). I know what Seaglass did to the OP was very wrong, but it looks like he is trying to make things right, so that he can continue doing business on here in the future. Hopefully after this experience, he will know to be completely honest in any of his future trade deals, or sells that he makes on here. There is a big lesson to be learned here for AZ members to use an esrow service on trade deals (if you do not know the AZ member that you are wanting to trade with). I know that one of the moderaters here offers a good escrow service for a fair price.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=115543

I think that the value of this trade deal (which was at least $500 I am guessing) was pricey enough for the escrow fee (of only $20 per person plus shipping) to be worth it, and that keeps the trade deal very safe, and that keeps everyone honest.

Going forward if I do any more trading on here I will def use escrow. I was unaware of this option when we made the deal. That is/was my fault for being ignorant. When this cue comes in, I will look it over and post some more pictures of it. If it is in as good a shape as it looks in the pics, I'm sure I will be more than happy on here. If there is no name on it, I will reach out to you all for assistance if possible to figure out the make of it. After this is done, is there a way I can take this thread down due to this being satisfied or will it stay up?

Seaglass' offer to send a free case to a deserving player a few days back was commendable....the handling of this matter, not so much so.

You just can't sell an item before the receiving customer has had a chance to see what you sent him (or her), and that both of you confirm that you are happy with the deal. Sure, you might make up for what went on by offering a little gravy, but it won't replace the deal gone wrong, and the fact that one side did not stand up to their end of the bargain.

Or you can choose to deal with people who gave a longstanding, sterling rep on here with a litany of satisfied customers (there are a lot of them). If they don't advertise a satisfaction guarantee or return policy, always ask them beforehand. Another thing you can do on trades....check their itrader feedback for ratings on 'Trade' transactions. You can proactively contact some of their past customers/trading partners. If they don't have much feedback, ask for references who are well-known in the industry. There are a lot of tools at one's disposal to research sellers. It's a shame more buyers don't do that before entering into a deal.

GamblingCLothing......Thanks for the link. That is what it looks like. I have played with one in the past and liked the way they hit. I look forward to receiving it and will post pics of it when I get it.

Cueaddicts.....I appreciate your advice. I have been trading and selling cues for a long time in Indianapolis for the last 10 years and selling on Ebay, but haven't done much on here. I found there isn't the same pool friendly environment here in Minnesota now that I have moved back and decided to try on here. The overwhelming support on this forum has more than erased the bad taste I have in my mouth from this transaction. I will continue using this site going forward. Thanks again.

Nice to hear that the good ppl on here have restored your confidence in this forum. It's a shame that some less than ethical ppl hurt all the good folks.Good luck on your future deals.

something has to change

So when are we going to get serious about who can buy/sell on this forum. Bad deals continue to happen because it is so easy to stiff someone. So someone rips someone off, gets a bad rep  gets harassed by all the good guys on here. He then kills his profile and can come on with a new one and starts all over again. I for one have reconsidered purchases if the the seller is not a regular. I know, I know, ........... escrow. But escrow adds time and cost to a deal. If it is a high priced item it does make sense. What if it is not. Who wants headaches buying a small item.

So can't we register and approve anyone who wants to buy and sell here. Anyone who wants to deal here has to give up some info like , Drivers license, a credit card, bank account or a SSN. I am not sure of the particulars but if someone gets caught dealing dirty there is something on file that can be pursued.

Again, I don't have the particulars but imagine if everyone who wants to deal here has been approved some how. I think transactions would increase.

Ok now you are free to tear my idea apart.

Some of the burden needs to be on the prospective buyer to do a little homework, and not rely solely on iTrader ratings, which can change at the drop of a hat. The smart scammers get around iTrader by doing some good deals to establish the iTrader, and then they go for the 'mark' on a higher dollar sale. Asking established members via PM can be very helpful. I would also avoid anyone from Watkins Glen, NY without doing some very serious research...as this member, Jeff Forney, is a very prolific scammer here, who is constantly being banned, masking his IP addy often, and has a myriad of user names. Odds are very high he is here now...looking for his next 'mark'.

I am new here, been on eBay for a long long time. I was scared to buy here, but made the deal last week and I got my cue yesterday. The whole time Im reading this link and thinking to myself this could be a place I don't want to buy from. BUT with all you folks pulling the wagons around this bad deal has make me feel more comfortable. I have only had dealings with cues max price of $600. I about fell over seeing what you all have. If I sell something I want who ever buys it to be 100% happy or its a no deal. I failed. I am shooting with a broom stick now and can not wait to find me a new shooter on here. I WILL be buying one soon, but this is a new world and I thank you all for letting me peek in. The knowledge and brotherhood that you all show is amazing. The bad apples always fall from the tree, lets just hope they don't bruise any good ones when they fall. The one bad thing that I can honestly complain about is the soars on my chin from where it keeps hitting the ground from looking at all the wonderful cues on here.

Tracking shows it was delivered today.

I'm pretty curious if he sent what he was supposed to this time. Hopefully the OP will post pictures. If I were the OP, I would probably video everything when I open it. From what I've read of the situation, and seaglass' response, I don't think I'd put anymore trust into it and would certainly never conduct business with seaglass anymore.

It was delivered. My wife opened it and sent me a couple pics with her phone. It is what he showed on here. When I get home from work, I will inspect it to see what kind of condition it is in and post pics.

After this is finalized, I'd also request seaglass to remove that tracking information picture unless you'd like your address to be public.

Rat

I used the cue last night. It is a RAT. The same RAT a member was kind enough to post the link to on here. It plays very well. It is perfectly straight and rolls true. I tried to upload a second picture of it but having issues. It was packaged very well. Seglass505, I thank you for making this right. I do appreciate it. If you could remove the tracking info with my address, I will be grateful. It looks brand new and was only test hit.

thread change

Be happy to delete the picture but honestly I'm not quite sure how. Be nice to know. . Btw. I'm licenced in delaware to buy and sell cues, cases etc. Also insured. All net profits I claim. Therefore my information is public record. Just saying.
So any advice on how to do so would be much appreciated .. your cue from Ryan is 18.5
He it is my genuine belief that he makes the best cue for that price range on the planet. His work is absolutely second to none. And the hit is fantastic.

Seaglass505,

At the bottom of the post that contains the picture with shipping and other information, you have an EDIT button for only the poster of that post (you).
Click on EDIT, then click at the end of the post. Now hold your backspace key on your keyboard down, and it will march backward wiping out everything in your post.
When erased, type in a dozen or so periods so you have enough typed in the erased post for the system to recognize, and click SAVE at the bottom of your post. Done!

RAT = Ryan Theewen, who makes a great cue. Also a magician at repairs; being the resident tech at Mueller's, he get's lots of practice. :o)

Good job Seaglass505 for making this right, kudos.

Sorry Lisa. It took a bad thread in order for him to do the right thing, something that should have been done, no questions asked in the first place.

Just a little less forgiving in my old age I guess. Not that my opinion matters all that much but it would have to be much more than that before I start handing out pats on the back.
