May your healing be quick and painless, Marcus.FAST_N_LOOSE said:MARK, I'M TIRED AND HUNGOVER, SO I WAS BEING DEFENSIVE......THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY PEOPLE THAT TRY TO PLAY DEVILS ADVOCATE, WHEN SOMEONE MAKES A GOOD POST.
I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO GET PICKED APART BASED ON MY STATEMENT. WHAT A CUEMAKER DOES BEFORE THE CUE LEAVES THE SHOP, DOES NOT IN MY OPINION EFFECT THE RATING OF THE CUE. SO WE AGREE ON THIS.
I SEE CUES MISREPRESENTED ALL THE TIME, AND IT REALLY BOTHERS ME. IF THERE WAS WORK DONE TO A CUE, IT SHOULD BE DISCLOSED. IT SHOULD ALSO BE DISCLOSED WHO DID THE WORK. I HAVE ALREADY PASSED ON SEVERAL CUES, FROM SEVERAL DEALERS, BECAUSE OF WHO/WHAT WORK HAD BEEN DONE.
HOW'S THIS SITUATION, THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A CUE HAS IT MADE WITH THREE SHAFTS.....USES THE CUE WITH 1 OF THEM, BEATS THE CRAP OUT OF THE CUE, SENDS THE BUTT TO GET REFINISHED, AND THEN SELLS THE CUE AS NEW WITH THE 2 UNPLAYED SHAFTS!!!!!!!!!!! THIS ISN'T JUST HYPOTHETICAL EITHER, I'VE SEEN IT HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE BECOME VERY CAUTIOUS WITH WHO I BUY FROM. IT HAS BECOME VERY IMPORTANT THE LAST FEW YEARS TO HAVE ALOT OF FRIENDS IN THE BUSINESS, SO THAT YOU ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT YOU'RE BUYING.
I hear ya...and yes, we do agree. I've seen half a dozen cuemaker shops, and each one either made the tip new again....or had spare shafts lying around to try out the cues.
For me, I would almost EXPECT that the expert who built it would take it for a spin, and look/listen for any flaws. How can they know if the cue is right, until it's used in the manner for which it was created to begin with??
I'm tellin' ya, Marcus.....Advil works WONDERS!!

Be good, and thanks again for the input.
