Put simply, if someone is sent a "PM" and then posts the data contained in that private message message without the sender's OK ... is that cool, and if not what is your opinion.

Why do you think that someone can post another person's PMs and it's still cool?

That is just wrong -so wrong

Is this a Poll

not going to vote on this. my 2 cents is to be careful to whom you talk to privately !!! that is all . :boring2:

It's definitely uncool, but people do it all the time. When you write a PM, (unless it is a trusted close friend) don't expect it to remain private. Messages are secretly forwarded, published and used against people in disputes all the time.

While the Forum Admin has the power to read any PM, on a forum this size it is highly unlikely the Admin has the time or the concern to read PMs. However I have seen on other forums where PM was used to steal members to start up competitive forums. From what I have witnessed here AZBilliards has a working relationship with other pool Forums and does not try to moderate any mention of them. Hopefully a PM is Private and not made public. But 99% of the time I could care less if it is made public.

If I was able to pick more then one my choices would be.

I voted who cares but only because I agree with all of the other 9 choices. :grin-square:

I think it depends...

Like if someone told you they were going to kill another member or said they were wearing a salmon velour shirt to a tournament that night...

Then you'd kinda have to tell someone.

You right but remember, you live in a ****ed up world surrounded by ****ed up people.

depends

First off, I don't send anything in a PM that I would be terribly upset if it was made public.

PM's I receive are normally considered private information however if someone is posting something totally different in public while playing games in private because they think I am too honorable to post a private message, surprise! I don't let people play games with PM's and make absolutely no apologies for that. Several people on this very forum have been attacking me in public while apologizing in private or vice-versa. Either way, they are gonna get busted.

If you PM in the AM while listening to FM and then BM, someone will CM and you will have to speak to the GM through IM, right SM?

I'm with the "It depends" crowd. Things are often discussed in PM that are not delicate in nature. Use your judgment gene, God gave ya one.

Now if someone PM's you and says "keep this private" or the info is obviously delicate, then don't post it up nor share the content.

Good topic and I don't think there's one correct viewpoint applicable to every poster. Some posters have tighter panties than others.
