Shouldn't Carom Have Its Own Forum Apart From Deno?

Straight pool and snooker now have their own forums in AZB's main category. How about a forum for carom in the main category?

Right now the only carom forum is "Deno Andrews on Carom Billiards" located in "Ask The Pros". The main category would be a more visible place to be and should invite more traffic than the Deno Andrews forum. Deno is long gone so all carom has is an "ask the pro" forum with no pro.

Is there any support for having a carom forum in the main category? I'm not predicting that it would get a lot of traffic, but I think carom deserves its own forum separate from the invisible Deno. The Deno forum is now pretty much used for carom in general - no one expects an answer from Deno - but it's not in a very visible location. Speaking for myself, I never look in the Ask The Pros section - the pros don't check in often enough and I've gotten out of the habit of even looking.

...
Sounds like a good idea to me, except it has the same isolation problem as the snooker group.

Rich93, I agree Carom Billiard should have it own forum. Beside, when the last time Deno answer any questions on his forum?

I like the Carom section, hope it stays.

If Deno chooses to be a non-participator, he should no longe have the honor, but we need someone to take the helm, and I suck!

Jewitt!! Maybe someone could tie one of Robert Byrnes' leg to it?!

I don't have any problem changing it to a more standard forum. My only question is whethere it will actually get conversation.

it should have it's own forum when you think about how different it is from pool. i've nothing against deno (i'm not an IPT hater) but if the man aint gonna use his forum, change it to a general one.

although i'll be honest, i personally am not likely to ever go in it unless perhaps the last active thread is titled "AMAZING SAYGINER TRICK SHOT VIDEO YOU WONT BELIEVE YOUR EYES" i'd probably venture in then lol.

I think I understand what you mean about isolation. I think you mean that lots fewer eyes will see carom posts on a carom forum than if the carom posts were made on the main forum (the forum we're on now). I'm not sure that's true. Because carom posts don't generate much conversation they quickly fall onto the later pages and aren't seen by anyone. Isolation can be a good thing - think of a carom player with a busy life who would check in only once or twice a week.

I just think carom deserves a more prominent "isolation" than its present location. Carom shouldn't be a subset of Deno. Deno should be a subset of carom.

I can't guarantee that it will get much at first, but it might grow over time. Think of a carom player investigating AzB for the first time. He's likely to think "nothing for me here" and never come back. With a dedicated forum, seeing Bob Jewett post there, he might sign up and start participating.

And, anyway, don't you think carom deserves its own forum? Such a beautiful game, with such history. I almost think it should have its own forum even if nobody visits - out of respect.

This is really a question for Bob Jewett.

I see that the snooker forum is "in association with SnookerUSA, the official website of the United States Snooker Association". Can the same be done for 3C in association with the USBA?

Is there a forum anywhere else for 3C? Perhaps there's no need to have one here if there is a successful one somewhere else. AZB would be ideal though because of the heavy traffic here.

I can't help but wonder what happened to Deno. Did he go into hiding, maybe a witness protection program?

I seriously doubt he would show his face around a pool tournament anymore. He kind of burned all his bridges.

I think a forum here is fine. In theory another could be started elsewhere, and that has been done before, but I think all the attempts have died. As for the USBA participating, I suspect that at least one officer will be monitoring the discussions closely.

Bump for AzbHousePro to see this.

Carom Section

I am new to 3 Cushion but have been looking in on the Deno section lately. A pretty good 3 cushon player has started teaching some of the 14.1 players at the Illinois Billiard Club and at least now, we are all pretty interested in it.

For my 2 cents, I would welcome a 3 cushion section.

I think it's a great idea. For non-daily browsers like me, I frequently miss interesting threads that get buried if I don't flip through several pages. Having a separate forum would make it easier to find the carom talk.

Also, Deno's inactivity suggests at least a renaming/relocation is in order, if not an entirely new separate forum.

Great idea

I also would like to see a forum in the main section dedicated to 3 cushion.
