Shut up or put up -- 28 seconds spinning cue ball

When the patrons' away, the kids will play. After closing hours I shot yet another silly "put up or shut up" video -- this one of my buddy Colin using my Longoni cue to set the world record in spinning a cue ball -- 28 seconds.

I know, it's juvenile, but at least we had a good time, (sans the pool-hall owner who you can see in the clip picking up one of the many balls that went awry).

Not even close to what Mike Massey can do. I will guarantee you he can make the cue ball spin for well over a minute. Maybe two or more! TRUE!

If U splice the vid together, U can get a much longer spin ala Assie Oyster :p :sorry:

I am glad you took the stance "I know, it's juvenile, but at least we had a good time, " So, I guess it's pretty cool. The Australian Oyster, the oh master of the illusion and taker of the Shuffett name, will be very mad. He took enough time to video himself doing the same feat.

I first thought this was gonna be one of those "hey, I can spin the ball etc, etc." threads. Kind of a challenge to all that someone can spin the ball. If it had that tone, I was gonna be the smartass that said, "Well, if it ever comes up in a tourney or an ahead set for the cash, can I call your friend?" Picture it. It's tied 8-8, and you have the eight and nine left on the table to take down the cash. Instead of drawing the ball to get on the nine, you stop the cueball and watch it spin for twenty-something seconds, pick up the cash off the light, and walk away. Huh?

Must be nice to have all of these friends that can do all of these things, the only video I have is of my friends lighting their farts. Oh wait, that's me.

When I was a sponsored player for FURY cues we had this exact contest before. I shot a 47 second spinning ball first and last try. It held out the whole time I worked with them. Mike didn't get there, he could spin it like that with his hands but not with a cue...If you beat my time fury gave you a cue. They never gave one away for that contest.

Since this is part of my "Shut up or Put up" (TM) you better follow the rules, which are very simple; put up or shut up ;^)

Until then, my buddy Colin is the world champion of spinning the cue-ball. Period.

Already eclipsed by a 43-second "2-cue, ball-assisted" try last night, the video of which Peer may get from Colin's cell phone.

But without specifying the surface the shot is played on, the record doesn't mean much. New Simonis 300 is going to give a much different result than fuzzy snooker cloth. Even on one table, the rate of slowing seems to vary a lot depending on where the cue ball stops.

I tell you what... I'm not sure you could pay me enough to stand or hold my camera that close to the pocket while a buddy of mine is trying to hit a ball as hard as possible and as far off center as possible in my direction.

so, I guess this is what Peer was really thinking about last night while I was beating him at 8ball... ;->

Well actually, I think I prefer my friends -- although they'll occasionally hit you in the face with flying balls.

How come the video is only 26 seconds long

I don't know what you're talking about -- the video is 2:03 long and the spinning ball last for 28 seconds and two frames.

I guess your the winner!

So we won't see any video of your self proclaimed 47 seconds spinning ball anytime soon then..?

"2-cue ball-assisted" -- yet another hoaxer hack by Bobby.

Perhaps it was -- but remember you're the reigning 14.1 champion (two seasons in a row)... but yet, as we went hill-hill I was a bit distracted by the thought of the imminent filming of Colin, that he would probably hit those balls at my face like there was no tomorrow, (whatever sad excuse that is ;^)
