Has anyone here taken lessons from Sigel? I've heard he charges like $500/hour. Is this true?

Mike shooting RH!!

Jennie, Thanks for he update and link. Kind of odd the picture shows him using a bridge and right handed! Sardo is spelled correctly so I guess the negative isn't flipped over.

regards....Paul

I was going to be in Orlando a few years ago on business and had some time and was going to try and hook up with Mike. I called him and he told me it was $500 an hour. Now if I was younger and had the potential to be a professional player, I may have considered it, but being in my 40s with an established career, I am just looking to have more fun potting balls. Too much for me.

Mike is right handed, but shoots pool left handed. He uses the bridge with his right though.

He is a dandy.

A legend in his own mind...

How are those cues doing for you Mike?

Ken

The place I play at usually gets the big players in when they're around, somehow missed out on Strickland, so I'll see if there are any plans for Sigel showing up.

It was probably right after the Loree Jon match when Mike thought he'd be rolling in dough for years to come. I mean who is gonna beat HIM on Slow nap cloth without jump sticks.

wow, thats amazing. I would rather play him a $500 set. I bet I would learn 10x more.

Mike is one of the greats people to touch a cue but I don't know if $500/hour is worth getting a basketball lesson from Jordan.

Hell, he charges $25 each for autographs!

just more hot air!

I got his autograph for free a couple times. And he was a very friendly and approachable guy (unlike some others who I won't mention). I don't think the IPT "Mike the Mouth" persona has helped his image any. He'll always be "Captain Hook" to me.

If Mike was on one of the pool school tours and came through town I would be the first in line. I heard he worked with Dennis Hatch when he was young and it didn't seem to hurt his game any.

a little more hot air! :D

Mike Sigel may have one of the biggest egos in professional pool, but most players do have large egos.

I agree that Sigel is talkative about himself when you engage in a conversation with him -- :grin-square: -- but, one thing for sure, nobody can dispute the fact that he's one of the best American pocket billiard players ever. For that reason, he is worthy of a wee bit of respect in pool circles.

Today, in the words of Rodney Dangerfield, the pro players don't get no respect. Reading about pro players on this forum at times seems as if the pro players are sitting in virtual dunk tanks. :o

Nice post. Mike has always been nice to me. I own two of his cues that I love. Not sure why people have an issue with his custom cues...

He will always be Captain Hook to me as well.

I've never met Mike Sigel but I wish he would get back into tournaments. I saw him beat John Schmidt at 14.1 on an IPT stream and he can still play.

There may be personal reasons why he doesn't do it but I would like to see it.

Some people dont even think he ever made a cue. Just lent his name to them. anyone else hear this? Its probably BS i suppose.

No need to qualify that in my opinion. Sigel is one of the greatest all around players in the history of the game, American or otherwise.

So true, but, as an American, I'm proud to call him that!

Last week I watched him run 280 balls and rack after rack of 10 ball. He is playing stronger than ever and he will be the first to tell you so .
