worriedbeef said:so somebody who smokes all his life, gets lung cancer because the smoking dramatically increased his chances of getting it, but smoking DOESN'T cause cancer? to argue that is merely arguing with semantics. it's a tube full of shite that's on fire being sucked into your body. even if the smoking/cancer connection wasn't already well documented, it surely stands to reason.
btw why is this thread seperate from drugs? is tobacco not a drug? this is one of my problems with the whole issue. why is tobacco legal and cocaine not? what's the difference? legalise everything or ban tocacco. the current half-way house doesn't make any sense. it just stays as it is because we're used to it for so many years. in the case of cigarettes in society, time breeds moral apathy. we just don't care about it any more because it's become so ingrained in us.
But you're forgetting that drugs like marijuana are GATEWAY DRUGS! It's not like these kids were smoking and drinking before they moved onto harder drugs... it's obviously the reefer madness that lead to it.
Like I've said before... I don't let our countries laws or politics have any effect on my moral compass. I judge for myself what is right and what is wrong. I don't need any politicians agenda, the big companies agenda funding him, telling me how I should be leading my life. If marijuana were illegal... I'd bet that the sales of alcohol & cigarettes would decrease dramatically. Politicians have never accepted money from the alcohol & tabacoo industry have they?

Think for yourselves people. Please!
